regarding the video i came through this video today while surfing the you tube. i was also shocked to see this video and thought of sharing in this forum. peace
The guy is riding on 38psi of air in rear what do u expect to be his pov on the tyre. Important thing about this tyre is the amount of grip it provides.
Good news is that now we are soon going to have more tyres in economical bracket. As what i heard after ceat rad x1, Apollo and tvs are also set to launch tyre in this size. I had a very good experience with Apollo on my scoot , it had osm like grip on muck and kichad.

        Hello all!

I got my Dominar on Road (after the cumbersome registration follow ups) last week. My previous bike was Suzuki GS-150R. As I had been used to the super smoothness of Suzuki, ride on Dominar I found too rough as expected. That's not been a concern though. The issues that actually bothering are these under:

        1) There are jerks I am getting whenever I accelerate and leave the throttle. I am forced to keep the machine running on higher gears to avoid such jerks (those I used to experience while running my previous bike on Reserve Mode).

        2) Further, on higher gears, I am also finding, once in a while, a lack of response from the engine when I try to accelerate suddenly. I have read about the ECU update that Bajaj offered. Kindly anyone share, how one can check whether the ECU update is already applied on their dominar.

        3) Further, the front break liver is very vibrating (so much that I felt it might break down), especially on 2-3 occassions when I had to apply sudden break.

Finally, I bought my bike from Autoden Showroom in Mahim, Mumbai. I have to give my bike for service by the end of this month (even though I have got to ride this only for 2 weeks now for some 300 kms). Please advise me which service centre in Mumbai I can rely on since the first service is quite crucial.

Really hoping to get some valuable advise and suggestions from the experienced riders over here

Hi. Congrats on the new bike. Regarding your issues:

            1. It's a higher powered engine as compared to the Suzuki and is fuel injected, hence you might find the throttle to be sensitive. Nothing to work about. If it's severe jerks then try to change the fuel station. It could be due to impure fuel. Also try to be easy on the throttle for the first 1000kms. Do not go above 5000rpm always.

            2. Since you recieved your bike last week, I all positive that the ECU is already running the latest update. Still if you are not satisfied, you can get it reflashed at the SC. I would suggest you wait till first service (if it is not complete) to let the engine fully settle in. The bike is running mineral oil from the factory and the engine will be a bit rough till your first service.

            3. The brake lever vibration is the ABS acting. Please do not let go of the lever if there is sudden pulsation. When you perform an emergency brake maneuver, you are required to apply as much brake as necessary. It may take a while to get used to it but that's how the ABS system acts.

Hope that answers all your queries.

It is due to engine braking which is a bit more on this bike. You have to learn to engage the clutch partially or fully when you close the throttle at higher rpms. You can also do upshifting at lower rpms while city commuting.

So today I took my dominar for a ride of 120kms. 80kms into the ride and something felt odd. I had to pin the throttle to overtake an average moving vehicle. After reaching, when I did an acceleration test the bike took 6.9 seconds for reaching 60kmph and and a whole 12.4 seconds for it to reach 100kmph (on speedo). I did it like 5-6 times and the result where the same. (Petrol tank half filled, my weight 70kgs). I feel as if the engine has lost its power. The bike struggles in 6th gear a lot after 100kmph. I've never faced this issue earlier.

Also my engine oil level seems to be nonexistent. Could it be due to low engine oil? I replaced it during my first service at 500kms.
                UPDATE:
So today I went to SVC and told them about the problems I face i.e reduced performance, poor mileage (18-22 in highway @ 90kmph!) And low engine oil level.
First the technician said the bike cannot be serviced now as it had only 2700 on odo and needs to be done only at 4500kms. Then later I told him that I will pay for it, I do not need free service as of now, and I will get it at 4500kms. He agree and asked me what needs to be done. I told to top up engine oil, clean air filter, clean throttle body and check any other stuffs that draws back the performance and mileage. For which he said "Engine oil needs no topup, air filter can't be cleaned and can only be replaced at 20,000 kms, for mileage nothing can be done as this bike is FI". I then argued with him. He took the bike for test ride and didn't say anything. I said if you're not going to fix it I am shooting a mail to bajaj after which he agreed to do whatever I say.

These svc people are really annoying, I mean how can he be so irresponsibly for a bike which I paid 1.7L? It's no small amount.
If my bike doesn't get fixed I am planning to mail bajaj about it. What do you guys think?

Oops! I was in real dilemma between Dominar and TNT 300. Was almost closing it on Dominar, but this makes me think again. I read few reviews about TNT ASS, but if this is the case with Bajaj as well, I would rather go with TNT 300. Really love that bike

Beneli rear disk pads cost around 3.5k. For that amount you can get dominar serviced and have some change in pocket. Beneli is a different game altogether. Exorbitant service costs. Expensive spares and no resale value in market. Dominar is the exact opposite.

If you like beneli, why are you in dominar thread?
Any product, there will be service issues. But only few face them. The happiest won’t come and write reviews. But they carry on with their life. But those who get bad service shout in forums and on net.

                            1. Engine oil needs no topup - If the level is maintained and there is no drop, there seems no reason to top up.
2/ Air filters are usually not cleaned but replaced , only oil filters can be cleaned. He is right about it.
                            3. FI bikes are programmed for certain performance and fuel economy numbers, they cannot be altered without a custom ECU map.

I suggest doing a few more mileage tests using the recommended methods here and trying a different fuel pump when filling up petrol.
Also, a light hand on the throttle goes a long way in improving mileage, if that is what you desire from a 400 cc motorcycle.
Also, attend one of the official Bajaj Dominar camps if they are happening in your city, you can clear all your doubts with the Bajaj team, they are bunch of good guys, you can learn a lot from them in general.

Dominar is a very good and potent bike. And my friend every bike has its shortcomings. The issues u see here are particular to one bike or the bikes facing it. Regarding Ass or svc whatever we call it , are more or less same every where one needs to be patient and friendly with them to get the things done.
I have owned many different bikes from different makes this is my seventh bike and 10 two wheeler. I had the worst service experience at honda. Bajaj in comparison to others is better here in delhi.
For benneli yes the 4k kms service interval is too less and the cost and availability of parts is a big issue. If u are looking for a twin then wait for bit more there might be new launches soon. And interesting singles are also on the way.
To me Dominar is very good and i can vouch for it confidently.

                                1. My engine oil level is below minimum. I couldn't even see while putting the bike straight for a long time.
                                2. Didn't know about that, sorry.
                                3. I know. But I filled my tank fully (Usual bunk, regular customer, fuel indicator showing full fuel level), for a 180kms ride and after I reached my destination I was left with just 2 steps in the fuel level indicator. Most of the time I was cruising at 90kmph in 6th gear, unless I decide to overtake a few times. Last time I did that I was left with 5 steps in the fuel level indicator (same riding style).

Moreover, after my first service they overfilled the radiator coolant, and didn't clean the chain before lubrication which I had to do later. Not only that, that guy was so irresponsible that his responses were mostly of "That's normal, or nothing can be done about that".

I would love to attend such camps but there are none in my city
