Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
yes you are right. The front sprocket cover needs to be opened for thorough cleaning.Originally posted by Ijs View PostHe needs to open the front sprocket cover and clean it. And brother prefer diesel over kerosene for cleaning, svc also use diesel. Kerosene should be second choice.
regarding use of diesel for chain cleaning speacilly o / x ring type chain, i did extensive search in internet and most people are telling diesel fuel eats up normal rubber and it may damage the rubber O/x rings of the chain. Thats why i am using kerosene.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
I just got my 3rd service done and I can see that the engine oil is bright red. I do not recollect the Bajaj oil being red in colour. Previously I was using Motul 7100, which was red in colour, after second service. I'm confused as to what has been put. When I gave it for service the engine oil was dark in colour.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
It cost me 1100₹ for engine oil only. I specifically asked them to use Total oil. Could it be that the older oil colour might have mixed giving this oil a red colour. I'm worried that I was charged without any oil change.Originally posted by Ijs View PostHow much did they charge for oil, motul is red in colour and cost 1180 mrp for 1.5ltr pack here in delhi at bajaj/ktm workshop.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
I have personally not used diesel on my chain, but yes the service center uses it to clean the chain. Also i have few friends who are using diesel from a very long time without any ill effects on chain rings. Only tarpin oil and thiners should be avoided at all costs.Originally posted by DJD View Postyes you are right. The front sprocket cover needs to be opened for thorough cleaning.

I am personally using wd40 from many years now. Will use diesel next time.

Total oil mrp ia 1010, in the bill of my last service it says 1009.99. And if the oil is drained properly then it can never mix with the new oil. But i think you should check with them which oil they have used as 20w50 dtsi 10000 is red in colour as I remember. Plz confirm with ur svcOriginally posted by nikhn View PostIt cost me 1100₹ for engine oil only. I specifically asked them to use Total oil. Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Thanks Ijs. I checked the bill now. It says the same. My earlier oil was still quite dark. I felt it could be used for another 2000-3000kms. Could it be possible they mixed it with the existing oil? I'm just worried since I couldn't see when taking the bike back from service. I came home and did a thorough inspection. Then could see that the engine oil looks red. Also it flows much easier than earlier. It looks less viscous now.Originally posted by Ijs View PostTotal oil mrp ia 1010, in the bill of my last service it says 1009.99. Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hi followed this thread but posting for the first time... Have a question... I had booked dominar matte black somewhere in oct paying the advance amount but could not proceed further due to some personal commitments... Now they are offering me 2018 edition woth golden alloys.. I loved both the colors 2017 and 2018 matte black but prefered 2017 over the latter... I asked the dealer for a 2017 version but he says the stock has exhausted and only 2018 is available post jan.. Is it possible???.. Or should i check with other dealers...secondly is the new version better over earleir as some youtube reviews suggest i am ok with the color if the bike is hasle free with ecu upated ..kindly express ur views

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hello Everyone.
I have been silent follower of this Thread for the Past 4 months. I have got lot of valuable information from this Thread and I would really like to thank everyone for their valuable contribution on this thread which helped to make a purchase decision.
Booked Dominar on Monday 13-1-18 @ Sai Service, near Balgandharva, Pune. They were having Rock Matte Black Color on display. Matte Black & Golden Wheels were looking Awesome.
I have decided to wait and see new Red & Blue colors in Flesh.
On Wednesday 4 Red Dominars were unloaded & I have got the call from Mr. Parag Desai from Sai Service Bajaj. I rushed to showroom & Man It was love at first sight.
This new Canyon Red with Golden Alloys looks really awesome in person. Photo & videos don't do justice.
I immediately choose one from 3 Red Packed Dominars, made payment & started RTO process. Did the PDI myself at the time of choosing. There was 1km on Odo on all the bikes. RTO process was done in 2 days & I got the good number
. No Smart RC still in 2018 from Pune RTO which is very disappointing. I would like to Thank Mr. Parag Desai form Sai Service Balgandharva Showroom for his valuable support while choosing bike, Doing PDI & Very Fast RTO Process. If anyone is looking to buy Dominar from Pune he is the Guy you need to contact.
Finally, took the Delivery on Friday
Did the Pooja @ Showroom & Home. I really don't have any words to express my feelings after riding it home, I was just Astounded !!
I have decided to do Ceramic Coating immediately while the bike is in brand new condition & there were not any scratches. I did make Few calls to some well know Detailing Studios @ Pune & ''Detailing Devils Pune'' got me Good Deal compared to others. I have booked appointment for Saturday & took the bike to their workshop situated @ Wakadewadi, Pune. I would like to Thank Mr. Tejas & Mr. Abhishek form Detailing Devils Pune, who did wonderful job on my Dominar. Mr. Tejas answered all my queries patiently & also gave me basic training for how to clean the bike after Ceramic Coating.
Got the Ceramic Coating done for 5000+18% GST with 3 Years of Gloss Warranty. You have 2 other options like 1 & 5 Years of warranty which costs 3k & 7k plus GST.
Bike looks Astonishing in Person after coating!! Amazing Gloss!! It takes 3-4 Hours for the whole Process & 12 Hours after application of Ceramic Solutions to bond with the clear coat of the paint. The Red Color is not the Ferrari Red, it's more like Cherry Red with just little bit of darker shed.
While taking the Bike home today a Guy standing next to me @ signal asked curiously ""Is it Ducati??"" After I explained @ Dominar he said Red color looks Great! I had a big smile on my face
. Red color does attract lot of Attention. Some people will like it some will hate it. If you want to be Discrete then go for Rock Matte Black which is also good looking Sparkly color. Matte Black looks like Batman's Ride & Red one resembles to some Transformer. I haven't checked Blue one yet but soon will do.
I have attached few images of the my Dominar After Ceramic Coating, also Detailing Devils Ceramic Coating Solution Bottles.
