Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
I am 5'5. Yes took a test ride before buying it. The ride was a short one and the bike felt comfortable with the turns and acceleration. I only realized the problem much later after purchasing the bike and riding it for more than 30 mins. Initially riding 30 mins is pure bliss but post that my back aches a lot. Especially riding through bangalore traffic involves a lot of slow riding at 5-10 kms on my travel route which is when the bike seems to really tire me out. Today I gave the bike for service and mentioned that I am having backaches. They said they will work on the suspension see if it can be improved. I will post pics of suspension setting once I get the bike from service. Maybe some more experienced riders can tell me if that is the softest setting.Originally posted by xearoum View Post

FYI. Softer suspension with increase the seat height. When looking from the coolant window side, it will be set to 3rd notch. Which is ideal for typical riding conditions. Making it soft would bring it to 2nd or 1st notch.Originally posted by ultimodgr8 View PostI am 5'5. Yes took a test ride before buying it. Guys, does anyone have idea of the Grade of oil used in the front fork for Dominar? The Inception - https://www.xbhp.com/talkies/tourer/...inception.html

Yes I find the front and rear suspension too stiff. Especially on rough roads the bike feels uncomfortable. I have adjusted the rear down from default setting 4 to 3 during my second free service today. let me see how it feels. Also the grade of oil is not mentioned in the manual.Originally posted by AV8TOR View PostHi Guys,
Is it just me or anyone else shares the feeling that the ride quality on the Dominar is on quite harsh
? I wonder how every review video skipped mentioning it.
The rear is adjustable so no worries there , has anyone tried a different fork oil in the front forks to make the ride quality better ?

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Yes absolutely correct. Softest setting on suspension will be problem on Bangalore's unscientific tall speed breakers. It will also have problems tacking with sudden pot holes at the bottom of fly overs.Originally posted by xearoum View PostFYI. Softer suspension with increase the seat height. Same here. I adjusted it one notch softer. It feels better than before but I need it to be softer. I might take it to 1.Originally posted by Leslie Pinto View PostYes I find the front and rear suspension too stiff. Especially on rough roads the bike feels uncomfortable. I found out Bajaj uses a standard fork oil supplied by HP. I think shifting to a 5W might help. The Inception - https://www.xbhp.com/talkies/tourer/...inception.html

I am again saying and would keep saying it playing with front suspension would spoil the handling and composer of bike.Originally posted by AV8TOR View PostSame here. I adjusted it one notch softer. It feels better than before but I need it to be softer. I might take it to 1.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Then why would high end forks have adjustment for preload, compression damping and rebound damping? All Independently. Basically to get the bike to handle and behave according to your likes. So changing oil or spring stiffness is the only adjustments that can be done on a low end fork like Dominar's. A google search would throw up a lot of discussion on this. AV8TOR let us know the result of the lighter oil.Originally posted by Ijs View PostI am again saying and would keep saying it playing with front suspension would spoil the handling and composer of bike.

Those forks are designed to be working like that, so that there can be scope for adjustments and load settings. But if you lower the grade of fork oil in the oe forks of a front heavy bike you would only achieve increased amount of nose dive and nervous handling in corners.Originally posted by Leslie Pinto View PostThen why would high end forks have adjustment for preload, compression damping and rebound damping? You need to change springs also and employe other means like dampers etc to make it adjustable.
On the high end forks both forks works independently and have different functions.

Liking the discussion so far. Just my bit. I think it's the thickness and angle of the front forks that is not right for dominar on bumpy roads.Originally posted by Ijs View PostThose forks are designed to be working like that, so that there can be scope for adjustments and load settings. I have observed that rumble strips are especially jarring as compared to other bikes. I have had other owners mention the same.
I also noticed that I to slow down much more that other non dominar bikers for speed brakers. This again due to the a jarring impact when the wheel hits the bump.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hi guys I went to test ride the dominar yesterday test bike had Done around 2500 Kms when I tried to achieve speed in 4th gear after hitting 80 85 kmph the revs just suddenly lowered .I was trying to overtake but the revs just lowered. think it was the rev limiter but then if I want to overtake in 4th or third at a particular speed does it mean I can't do it on this bike or will the rev limiter come off automatically .I'm planning to buy the bike next month upgrading from a pulsar 200 ug3 .kindly help guysLast edited by shaik4023; 01-11-2018, 08:27 AM.

Check this guys.. Bajaj dominar 400 complete engine dismantling video from Argentina..
Dominar valve clerance cannot be adjusted. Bajaj uses shims for the tappet. Not adjustable screws..

Mostly test ride bikes are ill treated, that could be the case.Originally posted by shaik4023 View PostHi guys I went to test ride the dominar yesterday test bike had Done around 2500 Kms when I tried to achieve speed in 4th gear after hitting 80 85 kmph the revs just suddenly lowered .I was trying to overtake but the revs just lowered. think it was the rev limiter but then if I want to overtake in 4th or third at a particular speed does it mean I can't do it on this bike or will the rev limiter come off automatically .I'm planning to buy the bike next month upgrading from a pulsar 200 ug3 .kindly help guys

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
This is the throttle lag which is present in early batch bikes but now it is resolved with fresh ecu update. Could be possible that the td bike is from the first lot and the ecu is still not updated. U don't worry, have few more test rides at different dealerships then decide.Originally posted by shaik4023 View PostBro I can understand I'll treated bikes but y would the bike lose acceleration suddenly like that you think bro?
