Re: Dominar 400 rpm issue
There is no limiter that stops your bike from revving past 4k rpm, an xbhp member faced the same issue which was diagnosed as a faulty radiator fan, ecu restricts the engine to 4k to prevent it from overheating. Could be the fan or a loose connector could also be a faulty temp sensor.Originally posted by somenath1061 View PostMost motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
I messed up on that question during my viva many years ago. But it seems everything expands when heated. Even metal expands. Incompressibility means volume cannot be changed by applying pressure. Oil becomes thinner or less viscous or flows faster when heated. That part is printed on the box. The change is volume or density is not printed. Change in density implies a change in volume. But don't take my word for it.Originally posted by somenath1061 View PostI am sorry but oil does not expand for sure (incompressible medium). It's viscosity and density changes with temperature not the volume. After running the oil is spread across the engine and that is why the level is low.
Check levels after 30 min ride, the level will be higher. I checked myself. Or i could have been high that day. Do let me know.

What you said is the same. Electronic sensors limiting the revs.Originally posted by BikerKid View PostThere is no limiter that stops your bike from revving past 4k rpm, an xbhp member faced the same issue which was diagnosed as a faulty radiator fan, ecu restricts the engine to 4k to prevent it from overheating. Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
You should really test your theory using an experiment and see how much more volume you get. Hint: heat the oil in a bowl and check volume. Compare with volume when it was at room temperature condition.Originally posted by deepDmnr View PostI messed up on that question during my viva many years ago. Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hi guys . This is my first question on this post . I own dominar and already clocked 3000 kms on it . In bumper to bumper traffic . I notice the engine heats up a lot and radiator fan starts . Is it safe to continue riding once the fan starts .? Did someone experience over heating issue in dominar ??

D400 is a bigger engine, it is obvious engine heats up in traffic. Nothing to worry about (except for mileage 😉). Keep riding...Originally posted by Sheikhsi View PostHi guys . Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Have ridden the bike continuously for over 100kms which included 15 kms stretch of terrible bumper to bumper traffic. Never once felt uncomfortable due to the heating issue. Yes the radiator fan does kick in regularly after riding at least 5 kms and it stays on for a good 3 minutes at least, also the fan speed may increase or decrease automatically based on how hot the ECU reads the coolant temperature that's continuously circulating.Originally posted by Sheikhsi View PostHi guys . To be very honest if this is the first liquid cooled bike that your riding then please don't get worried each time the radiator comes on. The heat that is blown from the front whenever the fan comes on is similar to that of a warm sea breeze and its definitely not going to harm you, nor the engine. I can say this after my legs literally got burnt cause I wore shorts and rode less than 12kms on an RC390 and that to well below 80Kmph throughout. The heat that comes out of an RC/Duke 200/390 is similar to that of the burning hot steam that is released from a pressure cooker, worst part is just like steam, it doesn't warn you when it begins to burn you! 😢
But, if you have had past experience with a liquid cooled bike and you feel it's getting much warmer than it should, please check the Coolant level on the RHS in the coolant level gauge and make sure its much above the Minimum level mark just before you start the engine in the morning (basically before a cold start). Also since you are noticing the radiator fan is coming on, we can rule out any issue with your fan. One other issue that's possible is the coolant liquid isn't circulating as it's supposed to but that would generally happen after many kilometers or years unless the fuse or sensor of the radiator water pump has blown. If that's the case then yes, your bike will continuously heat up even if the radiator fan kicks in regularly.
Hope this helps in troubleshooting your issue! ☺️

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Ok, i am done discussing this. Sorry if it hurt your head. All I said was based on empirical knowledge. Before heading out to office, the oil level was barely at min level. After reaching out was higher, close to mid level. Theory tested. No need to test on 200 ml of cooking oil in a bowl when i can use a 373 cc engine.Originally posted by somenath1061 View PostYou should really test your theory using an experiment and see how much more volume you get. But then I am good at googling.
So i found there is approx 5% volumetric thermal expansion of engine motor oil at 80 deg celcius as compared to ambient.
This increase in level should be visible thru the oil level glass or as measured by dip stick in a car. I am not making this up. Try it tomorrow to prove me wrong.

somenath1061 Sir, matter expands when heated. The difference is between mass and volume. Mass doesnt change but volume does. The same reason why solid converts to liquid and liquid converts to gas. No need to Google it up. Just take my word for it.
Talking about the engine oil, there are various compartments in an engine. It takes a while to settle down and may not even show up at all. If engine goes very low on oil, ecu will tell you about it.

Tried this, and the mirror is alright! Thanks for the solution!
