Yesterday had a test ride again, don't understand what's the advantage sleeper clutch gives. Clutch feel soft nothing more, jerking in sudden pick up is there as in regular clutch. Felt vibe only near 5+ RPM. Rest great bike for a 14 years Enfield owner.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Slipper clutch is just to mitigate the risk of rear wheel locking under sudden and aggressive downshifting. If you practice engine braking, you must have once encountered such a situation when the rear wheel gets locked as if you had hit the brakes. Since the brakes have not been applied so ABS may not come to the rescue in this case. Hence the slipper clutch avoids rear wheel locking by matching the revs of the engine. This I feel is more useful on the track than in day to day use.Originally posted by sumitro_d View PostYesterday had a test ride again, don't understand what's the advantage sleeper clutch gives. The vibe as you correctly noticed is there in the 4.5 - 5 K range but beyond that the bike becomes smoother.Blood, Sweat and Gears - Enough Said.

I added about 300 ml oil and now the level is about halfway in the window. So my conclusion is that the service chaps did not fill the required amountOriginally posted by Ijs View Post1.8 ltrs is the capacity mentioned for engine rebuild and piston works, and for regular service the oil should be 1.5ltrs the bajaj dsti 10000 comes in a 1.5ltr pack .
Do recheck with ur svc and get the oil drained and refilled with total 1.5ltrs.

This is the new tank pad. Design is same, but quality is better.
PS: They don't have the Non-ABS version with that tank pad available, as of now. So, I had to book the one with older one.
Happy riding.

Oil in Window is only visible in warm engine it wont show any oil in cold engine. Idle the engine for few minutes or have a small ride then wait for few minutes for thing to settle down. Now hold the bike upright and wait for 2 3 minutes now check the oil level.Originally posted by Leslie Pinto View PostI added about 300 ml oil and now the level is about halfway in the window. Can you post a pic taken from behind and away from the bike? Just to know how it looks as whole after the removal.Originally posted by Leslie Pinto View PostI removed the tail piece of my bike. I find it looks better, only riding on wet roads will tell me if it flings mud on my pillion's back.

Meet Karia, a.k.a. Nandi, my Twilight Plum Bajaj Dominar 400
Teaser:
Prelude:
Earlier this year, I had been to Bajaj showroom (Kalyani Bajaj, Mekhri Circle, Bangalore) for the delivery of a friend’s Avenger 220 street, and that was the first time when I saw Dominar 400 in person (P.S. I had been following the Dominar since its pre- launch days), and boy, I was sold on its looks! Few minutes later, I found myself taking a test ride, and that ride was pure bliss.
Of late, my trusted and beloved workhorse, the Red Monster (2014 Honda CB Trigger) had been giving signs of trouble, and thus the thought of getting a new ride kept hovering my mind! Amidst all this, the itch to have a big bike set in, and the test ride played a catalyst. But then, convincing my parents for a bike this big was a task. Somehow, pieces started setting in their place and I was headed to Kalyani Bajaj on Saturday, the 1st of July to book Karia and set things in motion.
The booking and delivery process:
Once in the showroom, I was in haste to get the bike on the same day itself. There was no doubt about the colour, Twilight Plum it would be. Upon inquiring with the SA, I was told that they have a Dominar in the colour of my choice, and can deliver to me immediately, something that brought an ear-to-ear grin on my face; though this grin was short-lived as the SA clarified that by immediate delivery he meant delivery by Tuesday at the earliest if I paid the booking amount right away and made the rest of the payment by Tuesday. I knew those 3 days would feel as 3 years to me, but then, as if I had option. I agreed and made the payment. Thus began the long wait (3 days long
) for my Karia to be home.
Upon reaching office on Monday, the first thing was to convince boss for a leave on Tuesday, and I was quite successful at it!
Monday passed with loads of work owing to the leave next day, and so the day passed pretty soon! (though the night seemed to be long and un-ending!) Got the copies of all the required documents, i.e. Id proof and address proof done on Monday itself, to avoid any confusions and lapses on the day of delivery.
Come Tuesday morning, and the first thing I do is to call the SA at Kalyani Bajaj to get the bike ready for delivery, but that call became a disappointment as the SA informed that they can deliver the vehicle minimum 3 days after the full payment! (I had transferred the remaining amount on Tuesday morning.) I try to convince him in the best way possible and in turn get an assurance that he will try his best to figure some way out and arrange for the delivery on the same day! Suddenly, at 10:30 am, I receive a call from Sharath (the SA at Kalyani Bajaj) and he asks me to come to showroom at my convenience, and that the bike is ready for delivery!
Headed to showroom without any delay with my elder brother and I see Karia ready for delivery. My joy knew no bounds, and I was having a hard time convincing myself that this beast is going to be mine in next few minutes! Some paper work and the keys are handed over! A customary pic with the SA and off I head to home with my new ride!
Ownership experience:
It’s been 15 days and Karia has already munched 650 kms. The experience so far has been pretty awesome and almost trouble-free, except for the RHS wing mirror which is loose and keeps changing its position due to wind drag and vibrations. It is fun to ride and responds immediately to commands. Have taken it to Tumkur highway (Doon Dhaba) and Mysuru highway (CCD Madduru) for late night rides, keeping it well under the prescribed run-in limits! It was just flawless and stable on highways. The LED headlamps are a boon; they light up a good distance, making night rides blissful!
Owing to its huge shape and size, I have christened it as ‘Nandi’, the famous hunk of Lord Shiva!
I will let the pictures do the talking now!
After delivery, with my brother
