He or she will get what is entitled under warranty. There is no such thing as a replacement bike when the same issue can be solved with a replacement part. That is a waste of time for either party.Originally posted by xTorque View PostDealers will not budge and that's the reason mentioned to take it up over social media. Crack in the engine is no joke, you have all the rights to DEMAND a replacement bike. Hope you have followed the instructions of running in religiously.
He might be eligible for a replacement engine, but not a replacement bike. You are getting over emotional and unrealistic about this. Think about this. What if the replacement bike he receives has some other defect? Then he should get another new bike? Yes, if he is the King of Brunei. Not otherwise.
A crack in the engine or crankcase can happen during manufacturing, and this seems to have slipped QC. But considering this is the first time i have heard of this here or anywhere else, the Bajaj QC is pretty fine i would say.
And jagad, have you been given any timeframe for the replacement part? Any document you received confirming the replacement?

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hey everyone,
I booked The Dominar 400 ABS Graphite Matt Black today at Amba bajaj,Bangalore by making full payment through DD. if it get's cleared by Thursday will take the bike delivery on Friday.
I sold my 2012 Pulsar 220F sometime in august as it's engine was seized, and the repair cost estimate was more than the market value for the bike.
I was totally hooked onto buy the 2017 Duke 390, after 3 visits to the electronic city showroom with parents, very poor sales efforts by salesman over there and so called "cautionary word of advice" by family and friends about the KTM bikes and the accidents, my dad cancelled the Duke 390 booking.
My other options were the new Yamaha FZ 25 and the Dominar 400, even though the FZ 25 is attractive, quicker to 100 and hell lot of fun in city rides, I really did not feel like it was an upgrade from 220, hence the Dominar 400.
I have no doubt that the Dominar is a great bike, but I am a tall skinny dude(5'11 and 60 kgs) and dominar is thrice my weight
, how will this bike feel compared to the 220 especially in heavy Traffic, as i have to cross the silkboard signal everyday( Bangalore residents will know the pain).
But hey, the bike is THICC and elegant.FuN StArTs At ReDLiNeS......

Thank you for talking some time to address my issue. Incident happend yesterday and initially I went there as a coolant pump leakage issue after analysing my bike they found crack in engine case and confirmed it as an engine oil leak.Originally posted by Indivar View PostHe or she will get what is entitled under warranty. i lodged a complaint in bajaj website (sunday)about this leakage in first place . Luckily showroom manager recieved email (monday ) from bajaj when they are working on this issue. Mohteej bajaj showroom manager Mr kumar address this whole incident and tried to get that spare with other dealers in chennai, but there is no spare in chennai.
They ordered for a new one and asked me to wait until it get reached there. I will go to svc tomorrow to get some update. Please advise me if i can take any other action to get it sorted, I am novice at this...[emoji29]

Indivar but he didn't give any documents. He just mentioned that he placed the order and it may take 20 days for the replacement parts to get delivered and in the mean time he will try other dealers in chennai to get that spare part.Originally posted by Indivar View PostHe or she will get what is entitled under warranty. Initially he tried to close bajaj complaint ticket by giving a feed back form and asked me to write as issue addressed and the replacement part orderd by the dealer. But I condemn his act and insist him to fix it and let the ticket be pending until i get the replacement part.

Dont give him satisfaction note, and try to put burdain on him for replacement for Bike,Because bro you have paid for that bike So why to use Defect product..? Tell him if you dont give replacement for bike then you will sue him and Bajaj in Consumer forum.Originally posted by jagaddjag View PostIndivar but he didn't give any documents. Ideally, you should get an engine replacement, iam not sure who and how the service center will replace the crankcase of the engine without making a mess out of it.Originally posted by jagaddjag View Post@Indivar but he didn't give any documents. 1st attempt- issues mentioned tank vibration, coolant pump seepage, handle bar vibration.
Great bajaj svc just changed oil and oil filter. Nothing fixed
2nd attempt- tightened bolds in coolant pump and engine mount .. Still issue
3rd attempt - I personally tried to reach mechanic who works on dominar. Informed all my issues. Luckily he was helpful and asked me to leave a bike for a day.
Effort made- tightened all the bolds, Taps under tank to damp vibs, rubbed metal in foot pegs to damp vibration.
Gasket to stop coolant pump seepage.
Bajaj Spare is not available so paid for ktm coolant pump o ring
Only down side after riding my bike in heavy traffic approx 40 km in chennai.
I noticed the seepage in coolant pump again. Why god why???
I am going to take my bike to svc tomorrow.
Any advise/ suggestion regarding this seepage issue..Two things from what I noticed from your post. "tightened bolds in coolant pump" this specific line caught my attention. Since you've completed your first service and certain things have been undertaken from the SVC side, I wonder how how a simple overtorquing of the bolt could have caused a crack in the thread housing, post which you are observing leak, after a spirited ride in Chennai climate. However, keep in mind, if you're under warranty try to push it for warranty. And no, they won't replace the entire engine, unless it's a seizure or severe mechanical defects. You can definitely though, push your luck through warranty.Originally posted by jagaddjag View PostThanks man, actually I posted here for your suggestions [emoji13] [emoji13].. i am damn sure it was from the seal and not from that bolt. Seepage was from left middle of coolant pump. Fixing bond should help for sure.. it was very mild leak..
Let see how it helps...
Cheers!

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Try pushing for it but it is a hard task, as B7ALCKTHORN said i also think it is a simple case of over torque if it is near a bolt.Originally posted by jagaddjag View PostJust one question. Am i eligible to claim full engine replacement instead of that defective inner case alone?
Try every possible channel available , shoot a mail, Twitter, face book and you local area engineer.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
This issue was not caused by the consumer and the KMs driven is very meager and hence suggested to get a replacement bike rather than a engine/crank case.Originally posted by Indivar View PostHe or she will get what is entitled under warranty. Not emotional, but being optimistic. One or the other issues do persist in any mechanical/electrical devices but not to the heart of the machine (engine). There are scores of people complaining about vibration from the tank and it was a test error by R&D and the fix is simple, but if this is for the engine, I cant budge. I/we are not kings (not sure about you though), but 2lacs is not easy money dude.Originally posted by Indivar View PostHe might be eligible for a replacement engine, but not a replacement bike. Glad the vehicle you have (if from Bajaj) is QC perfect. But a defect in Engine, not a joke to laugh and keep shut.Originally posted by Indivar View PostA crack in the engine or crankcase can happen during manufacturing, and this seems to have slipped QC. Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hello All,
It's 2800 kms for my Domi now. The distance covered is a mix of short highway rides of about 200kms round trips and my office commute which is approx 100 kms round trip. Yesterday, on my way to home, I was cruising at around 80-85 kmph on the Mumbai - Nashik highway and suddenly a pothole came and I went through it.
As I went further, I came accross a lone road where there are hardly any vehicles and you can listen every beat of you engine. There I heard slight screeching sound coming from my Domi. The sound was similar to the dry chain sound. However, I lubricate my chain before every ride with Motul C2 chain lubricator.
Also, I discovered that this sound was only occurring whenever I used to go beyond 35-40 kmph. I called up my friend and asked him to follow me and tell me if he hears the sound too. He said that the sound was coming from rear wheel and we are suspecting that the rear wheel liner is making that sound, as it came almost everytime I tried to stop the bike using rear brakes.
Have anyone of you came across same issue? As far as I know, changing the Liner will take at or around 6-7k kms.
Planning to visit the SVC - Ulhasnagar this weekend. It doesn't matter what you ride. What matters is, You Ride.

I hear the same sounds from my rear wheel while riding above 40 kph. Just noticed that yesterday. I didn't run into any poth holes, but there was some severe rain here for where I ran my bike into some deep water patches. Need to take a closer look at thisOriginally posted by nishiparate View PostHello All,

I can feel your pain bro. Spending big and then dealing with this tragedy is really troubling. Not just for you, but fellow riders like me.Originally posted by jagaddjag View PostThank you for talking some time to address my issue. You need to reach out to the top level because this replacement will probably not come easy.
I would have raised my voice at every forum, every site I can find.
So Bajaj would not just deal with your troubles, but look into QA.
I hope you find a fix soon.
