Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hello guys,
Ever since the begining of this year, started to look out for options to upgrade my current 8 year old fzs. I delayed my decision but my bike decided that its time. Service center made it clear its due for an engine over haul and it would empty my pocket upto 16,000 . And thus decided to switch.
Now i have few concerns that already experienced can clear head off.
1. How does the bike perform in city? I would be doing 2000+ km in a month and is it a pain to ride this in traffic ? I dont think anyone would use all the six gears in the city and constant swtich is expected. Please throw some light on this.
2. How is the after sale service? I live in chennai, does the owners of chennai have good experience with service center?
Please advise and thanks in advance.

1 Bike is very easy to handle in city and is very nimble on its feet. I am only 60kgs and 5.4fts and never faced any issues while riding in traffic. Once it starts moving it gets weight less and i have taken this to impossible gaps and rode over broken pavements to avoid traffic a thing i never did on my earlier bikes.Originally posted by Harrisoncool View PostHello guys,

Fuel efficiency in city is 26 to 28kmpl once i got 30kmpl but that is only once. On highway i get 32 to 36kMpl depending upon how i use my right hand. Chain maintenance is the only thing which have to be taken care of it starts drying after 300kms.
There is a vibration zone at 4.5 to 5k rpm range which u can feel at pegs and handle but it gets milder with usage and service. After 5k rpm it gets smoother.
Sixth gear can be used after 63kmph as per manual i use it at 65kMph or post 70kMph in the city. 3.5k to 4k rpm is the sweet zone and glide mode in the city.
There is also some buzz present in tank.
2 service experience here in delhi is satisfactory can't say about other cities.
I am a happy customer.

Engine oil , oil filter, filter oring, any issues u have, chain adjustment if needed. Get every bolt tightened specially the disk rotor and exhaust heat shield.Originally posted by jagaddjag View PostThanks,. Cluth and throttle play adjustment.
Try to be present there and make sure they put 10w50 full synthetic oil and do not opt for engine oil additive it is a waste of money. New ecu update if ur bike is already not update.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Thanks a lot bhai.. my bike got v2 sticker on dashboard, so it should be the latest version of ecu. No heat issue or power lag in my bike. My only concern is vibrations and the handle bar wobble. Let me hope for the best. Seriously bajaj should hire you as a service manager 😋. Your care shows how much you love dominar.Originally posted by Ijs View PostEngine oil , oil filter, filter oring, any issues u have, chain adjustment if needed. Thank you Ijs .I dont think i would be able to do 70+ consistently in city. Which means i will hardly use 6th gear in city and should be constantly shifting between 3 -5. I dont know how much of that is good for the clutch plates and engine in longer run.Originally posted by Ijs View Post1 Bike is very easy to handle in city and is very nimble on its feet. Thank you Ijs. I see that you are one of the most active members here helping everyone with their questions. That's an admirable quality.Originally posted by Ijs View PostCheck front shock for any leakage from seal area , same for rear and also check shocks mounting bolts. Feel the disk rotors with hand to check for uneven surface or any nicks or dents.
Check tyres and hand grip and footpegs to see and feel if there is any wear.
I am slotted to take delivery on 23rd. But, the thing that bothers me is that the dealer is saying that some professional riders will ride my motorcycle from the stock yard to their dealership (a distance of some 15 KMs). I am not too happy about this. I had even written to Bajaj. They wrote back saying that if I wished, I could pay for the tempo transport!! I am not sure if this is par for the course.
Other than that, I would appreciate being pointed to a parked PDI list somewhere on this forum. I searched and searched and could not find one.

That professional rider would be a local mechanic nothing more ask them to tag you along for the same purpose go with that guy to the stock yard and bring it in front of ur own eyes.Originally posted by bkb View PostThank you Ijs. As for pdi list that topic is pinned in the motorcycle section of xbhp if i am not wrong. And the list is basically same for every bike with small difference. There is a YouTube video by vikas ramachall on pdi of dominar.

Yes, I plan on seeing Vikas's video. That guy's vlog has always struck me as one of the more informative ones.Originally posted by Ijs View PostThat professional rider would be a local mechanic nothing more ask them to tag you along for the same purpose go with that guy to the stock yard and bring it in front of ur own eyes.

By the way, I too have chosen a Twilight Plum color. That is in no small part due to your pictures.
Can you please give me a link to that pinned PDI list? I can't seem to find it. I guess, I am hitting new highs on the idiot scale today.
