Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Nice ! Congrats to you as well . I booked on 18th too as it was my birthday that day but because of some issue I had to take delivery today ... Love the bike ...haven't exceeded 4k rpm till now since morning ...Originally posted by faysal_khan View PostCongrats. I just got mine at 18th of july in same colour.
For run in perios just stay below 5k rpm. And keep your rpm varying and try to run in other gears as well. In new bikea the rpm limit is set to 5500 rpm till 2000 kms. I tried mine for once or two. Doesn't do any harm for seconds. And don't rev motor while idling. I know it sounds sweet.
Thanks for your advice [emoji4]

I believe this has to do with the paint problems faced in the black and silver rims. A lot of users have reported (including me) paint wearing off the center stalks, and the newer single color golden alloys seem like a workaround till they can sort out the issues with the original black and silver rims. As of writing this, the black paint is chipping off my rear rims. My front rims are in better shape though. I have only ridden 4000 kms till date. But my paint problems started appearing within the first 100 km or so after purchase.

Hi All,
I just wanted to share an update on my motorcycle after 1.5 years of ownership.
Dominar 400 ABS
Colour : Midnight Blue (Lovely color indeed). Even more special since we are now in limited edition category and these are no longer an option.
Km done : 4,100 Km (too low i know)
ECU Version : 117 ( latest )
Services done : 3 free services
Oil Status : Still running on the first service oil change. Will probably consider changing after 5k or more km.
Mileage : Never checked. This thing is thirsty.
Issues faced
1. Left fork oil seal leakage. Changed it once, and it is leaking again after just 50 odd km. Will visit SVC for the same. Covered free in warranty, but had to pay 130 Rupees for fork oil. I have seen a lot of photos online of other dominars with the distinct signs of oil leaking from front forks.
2. Front brake light switch replaced. I take care now not to get much water over the handlebars and electricals while washing it. This part is just underneath the handle switches on the right.
3.Other issues (cosmetic )
Paint peeling off the rear wheel rims.
Observations - The engine is not free revving yet, i believe it would get smoother over time. Rear brakes dont have positive feel, braking effort is fine, but iam never sure how much i need to stomp on them to get them to work. It works differently each time.
Thats it folks!Last edited by Indivar; 07-23-2018, 01:52 PM.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
An issue which is unidentified even By Bajaj India
Bike Age: 1.5 Yrs
ODO: 26000+ Kms
Issues:
1) 5th or 6th Gear 90Km/hr + Bikes suddenly stop responding to throttle as if I have no fuel left in the tank.
2) Radiator reservoir requires to top up after every 400-500 Kms. Topup qty 350ml approx.
Resolution
1) Bajaj Mechanics unable to identify the issues since 3 Days, changes all Spark plugs, Air Filter, FI Sensor, Throttle Body cleaned, Fuel filter, fuel pump, ECU Update, still same issues. God knows what else they going to change the next.
2) No solution found yet, instead have started filling up on my own :-(

1.For the first issue, i want to ask - Do you face this issue after heavy acceleration through the gears? This could be because the engine is starving for fuel. Iam presuming that you have tried filling from different fuel stations? Also, are you by any chance adding any additives to the tank?
2. This should not happen, there are some cases reported here where the coolant is leaking into the engine being a cause. Did your SVC check it?

1 first which ecu map u are running, do u also face erratic idle rpm or just the throttle lag at 90kmph.Originally posted by Parththebeast View PostAn issue which is unidentified even By Bajaj India

If the bike is on latest or the previous to latest ecu map then ask them to reflash it and clean the throttle body, and maf sensor ,map sensor would be auto cleaned with throttle body cleaner and if this doesn't resolve the issue then try a different charcoal canister which is the part of evap system and do get all evap pipes and other overflow pipes cleaned up.
Now if you face erratic idle rpm then the stepper motor located on the throttle body is needs to be changed stepper motor is something which controls the final injection cycle and thus the rpm at idle, while in the process of all this do get the injector cleaned up.
My diagnosis says changing the charcoal unit would do the job or else the throttle body cleaning.
2 for coolant issue, is there any leakage found means is the coolant dropping somewhere or mixing with oil, if it is mixing with oil then u need new head gasket, heat seal and water pump seal/new water pump. And also need new oil. To check if coolant mixing with oil or not just inspect the oil window , the level of oil would be increased and it would look like coffee with some froth on top layer.
Now if there is no leakage or no coolant mixing with engine oil then just simply change the radiator cap and inspect the reservoir cap and see it will resolve the issue.Last edited by Ijs; 07-23-2018, 05:33 PM.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Apollo has launched a set of tyres that suit Dominar specs. Someone here has used it, I think it was Ijs bhai. He's got some good feedback about them.Originally posted by aditya10dulkar View PostMy friend just completed around 16k kilometres on his dominar and the MRF tires are in bad shape .. can anyone suggest me some good tires for our dominar ( expecting long life and grip in rain , because it rains almost 7 months in Goa )
Else if the stock MRF ran good then you can get MRFs again.Regards,

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Guys what s the stock ECU mapping version the 2018 model of dominar has. I got the red beast on 31st March 2018 I have a minor lag in 2nd and 3rd gear engine seems to have a lot of vibes around 2k to 3k rpm. 4th 5th and 6th gear works pretty well no complains.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hello Dominar owners,
The issue has been identified by me today in the morning i had my friend's dominar same model with same ECU Upgrade. I have got the exact same issues faced in his bike too. Have called up my dealer manager and he is updating bajaj with the same.
Until then
PLEASE DO NOT UPGRADE YOU DOMINAR (FIRST BATCH)
NOTE: In case post update you are not facing the issues then please let me know with you batch and year of manufacture.

Sorry to read about your ordeal. My Dominar is from the first batch in January 2017. I have not updated to the latest ECU update which I think came out a couple of months ago. Are you in the DOC Ahmedabad group? If so, kindly put this information up there too. I think some members are running on the latest update and there are people there with the first batch of bikes as well.
I am from Vadodara and if you want, I can put this issue up there as well. Let me know. You can inbox me your number if needed so we can connect.
Hope things get better buddy.Blood, Sweat and Gears - Enough Said.
