Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Would second what Ijs said. The honeymoon period with Motul is short. The first 100 kms are the best and the magic starts to wear off after 3 weeks.Originally posted by aniD400 View Postguys.. does warranty get void if we use motul oil... coz today I gave my bike for service at rv bajaj Bangalore and they were dead against me using it even though I'd bought it myself and gave it to them...so I thought I'll ask here and then change the oil...
My bike runs much better warm i. e after 20 min of riding.
I still go for Motul 15w-50 and it works great. My SC initially resisted but more they are cool with me providing the oil.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Update on the Michelin pilot street radial : the tyre did make noise as Ijs and lifestealer warned.
If you can put up with the noise then it's a great tyre. More control, easier to flick and the tyre soaks up the bumps so much better.
I would rather have a nimble D400 that is easier on my back so a good option if you commute on bad roads with the hard suspension.
Would love to hear about the pirelli diablo rosso 2 if you have tried them.
Ceat zoom rad also an option
Please note the stock revz are no slouch, i did 17000 on the stock mrf with zero punctures.

With the amount of grip offered by Michelin the nosie/sound can easily be ignored.Originally posted by deepDmnr View PostUpdate on the Michelin pilot street radial : the tyre did make noise as Ijs and lifestealer warned.

Grip level of rosso 2 is on a different plane all together, u can literally lay down the bike and kiss the road and pick it back up, but the compound is very soft so not meant for very rough road and a frnd has it on his bike, front sprots demon and rear rosso 2 and his dominar felt like a different animal. But sadly a not so big nail made a irreparable damage due to very soft compound and he is back to mrf at rear now and now he miss the grip badly, but the best part is that frnd is our bajaj's ride coordinator so he doesn't had to pay from his pocket.
The only major issue faced by owners with mrf is side wall cracking but it is covered under warranty amd many has already claimed it.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
So during warranty you have to stick with company recommend oil, if motul is available on Bajaj show room, yes you can or not. I am also having same issue with my Cbr, so what I am doing is, I will use Honda and will chabge to motul after some usage( I mean once I understood the quality went down). Again motul won't do any magic to all motorcycle. For example, if you go through Cbr forums, the shell synthetic giving best performance for cbrs. So basically you need to undertake from people which one gone good and have to stick with that. Again if you are looking for bike warranty, this is a big risky area.Originally posted by deepDmnr View PostWould second what Ijs said. The honeymoon period with Motul is short. I recently changed my bike's tyres with Metzelers M5 110/70-R17 at front and Tourance 150/70-R17 at rear...Originally posted by deepDmnr View PostUpdate on the Michelin pilot street radial : the tyre did make noise as Ijs and lifestealer warned.

as rear being 150/70 and stock was 150/60 results in increase in ride height by half or a inch.. so shorties who aren't able to touch the ground with stock do not go for it... or else if you still choose the 150/70 .. then you have to lower the rear monoshock by one step (softer side) this will lower the seat height as you sit on the bike.
About the tyres.. Tourance and M5 are the massive on highways and lil offroad. though M5 being street tyre looses grip on off-tarmac which made me worry sometimes. Bike is too heavy to handle if front looses the line in gravel. M5 is way lighter than stock MRFs so after swapping you immediately feel the reduced weight at handlebar and you'll find its way more easy to flick the bike with M5.

Tourance is way better than I expected... best tyre I've ever and it's worth every penny..
Being Off-roaderer cum tourer, I normally prefer knobby tyres as I own Hero Impulse and now Dominar."The Answer, My Friend,

Is there any issue in gear box & head light
I'm 6.4 and i find this bike way more comfortable than other bikes...
All you need to do is to raise the handle bar up by either using aftermarket handlebar or the adjustable pivot style risers with stock handlebar as shown below.
Seat is not comfy enough for long rides, can make it comfy from any local seat maker and also suspension duties are lil stiffer side. So need lil adjustments in this area and you'll be the happiest Domi owner ever..

As I said I'm more of a adventure lover
I love to ride on knobby tyres on gravel as well as on tarmac. so if Apollo is M7 competitor then it's no for me..
I swapped front stock MRF with Ralco Speed blaster 110/80 which is knobby and huge in comparison with M5 ... so it need some tweaks in front mud guard as it rubs against the mudguard from the inside. The seller from whom I bought and installed the tyres knew few Dominar owners who fitted Speed blaster with some jugaad.
It was closing time so made quick decision to go with M5s.

Fego float is around 2k. I was thinking to modify my seat for touring purpose same as on the Dominar which was participated in Trans Siberian road tripTrans Siberian odyssey. see the pic below for reference. I dont know how much this seat mod will cost but I feel it will be permanent solution for sore saddleOriginally posted by Ijs View PostTry fego float for seat comfort, many owners are living happily with it now. No more sore bum.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Deal with Rosso 2 is it's too soft. Some say it's even softer than the Metz M5. So yes, grip level will be at least 20% better than Pilot streets so more prone to puncture. I have clocked around 5K on pilot street and I can tell you the the noise is almost non-existent. Perhaps usage fixes it. And about the grip level, it just has more grip while cornering and hard rubber in straight lines. I keep it really really steady in rainy condition so can't comment but I don't find it difficult to lean into a corner at 40. Plus.. abs trigger is extremely rare.Originally posted by deepDmnr View PostUpdate on the Michelin pilot street radial : the tyre did make noise as Ijs and lifestealer warned.

If you want to buy KTM ones then you have to get them wrapped or painted. Depends on your budget. I bought the White ones and got them wrapped for 450.Originally posted by getkishore92 View PostHey guys, any idea where we can get the black knuckle guards for the dominar?
I could only find KTM's orange/white knuckle guards at the KTM showroom, is painting or sticker the only way?
