Pulled this image from xbhp itself. That's the affected area. Although I'd try thorough cleaning and observe it for some days and revert, I wanted to know if anyone else has observed something like this. I did bring this to the attention of the service center guys but they had brushed it off saying oil change karte vakt gira hoga. I am aware of a youtube video which highlights similar situation, although I'd have to check my YouTube watch history to find it.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Are you observing any oil seepage and accumulation near the oil filter cover? Or above it? The engine is mostly clean but that part seems to be oily.Originally posted by Ijs View Post

No never faced it z but it happens when the oring is not replaced with the oil filter, it costs only 10 or 15 bucks get the new oring seal or get some bond applied to the existing one.Originally posted by jani-boy View PostAre you observing any oil seepage and accumulation near the oil filter cover? Can you elaborate on the tank padding part? Has it made a noticeable difference? Where did you get it done from?Originally posted by jani-boy View PostFlashing the 118 ECU on the ABS model was not advised by the service center manager, and I still went with it. Here's how the bike responded to the 118 ECU flash:
I'd left for Nasik from Thane, and on the highway, I was doing a pretty conservative 80km/hr to keep up with a friend on his Avenger 220. The air had a thick layer of fog so visibility was an issue. As soon as the fog cleared, I tried going upwards of 90 km/hr. This is where the bike started jerking violently. The throttle response was gone and the bike was resisting going above 90. It was as if the fuel supply was cut off and the throttle was closed no matter what I did.
I missed out on doing a 100 km/hr speeds that the bike can comfortably pull off otherwise on the beautiful tarmac. I was scared as hell but in the back of my mind, I knew the ECU flash was the culprit. Didn't find an svc in Nasik, nor a dealer and knowing the ECU updates aren't possible on a Saturday since they request for the HEX from Pune, I didn't bother on visiting the service center. Kept doing an 80-89 km/hr, being very careful of not going past 91.
Nasik Pune highway is one heck of a road and I was very disappointed in myself about not have had flashed 117 files. Was pretty much restricted to 89-90, 95 at best and then the violent throttle lag/cut off kept happening. This went on till Mahabaleshwar. Took the bike to Kolhapur on a Tuesday and got the 117 ECU files flashed. The service center guy first blamed low fuel but then acknowledged the ECU to be the culprit.
In any case, the bike is solid, very happy with the product, save the minor niggles that are there. I'd also opened the tank cover and added padding to reduce the tank vibrations. Got a very decent fuel economy of 32 km/hr almost every time, loved how the bike handled in the rain at Kolhapur. I do regret not having tested the ECU flash properly as I'd flashed 118 almost a week prior to my trip. If I'd rolled back to 117, I'd have had a different experience altogether.

I'm using the bolt charger. I've connected the wires to the terminal and routed the charger toward the rear seat. The phone charger cable comes out of the small cavity between the front and the rear seat.Originally posted by TheQuarterMile View PostPlanning to install a mobile holder with charger.. Did it by myself. Used protective foam from the spare dell laptop battery I'd ordered some months ago. Any thick foam will do. I'd used a double sided tape but that totally depends on you. The sound from the tank is not audible now. I've also stuffed in some foam between the small flap like thing below the handlebar. The headlamp cowl also vibrates at times and can get bothersome on long rides.Originally posted by TheQuarterMile View PostCan you elaborate on the tank padding part? Isn't wiring directly to the battery terminal bad?Originally posted by jani-boy View PostI'm using the bolt charger. I've connected the wires to the terminal and routed the charger toward the rear seat. The phone charger cable comes out of the small cavity between the front and the rear seat.

I'm not sure about that. Bad in what way? I didn't really face any issues with the electronics due to this.Originally posted by TheQuarterMile View PostIsn't wiring directly to the battery terminal bad?

Bad in terms of current leakage.. If it's indirectly connected it would work only when the ignition is on.Originally posted by jani-boy View PostI'm not sure about that. Bad in what way? I didn't really face any issues with the electronics due to this.

I dont have the current update but I do remember that when I had the first update done last year, the bike did stall a few times but after a couple of days it was back to normal, so the mechanic is probably right.
I distinctly remember there was no charge levied on doing the ECU update. In essence the update was to remove the throttle lag which was a manufacturing defect from Bajaj and they dare not charge the customer for it. I am not certain why they have charged for this update. I have not had it done so cant comment conclusively, however I dont think they should charge for ECU updates.Blood, Sweat and Gears - Enough Said.

Re: Ecu updated
Sometimes new update takes a little time and kms to get normal, stalling immediately after the update is normal. Give it a day otherwise get it done again.Originally posted by rprathin View PostGuys i need some help

And this process is not chargeable if they have taken money for it then you should complaint regarding it, to their manager or head and also mail it to bajaj auto and also register complaint on their toll free number.
Similar case has been reported once before and the owner complained it to bajaj so they paid him full refund.
And for non abs 118 file is working well.
