One issue I see with the new version is that it may take time to sort out the niggles that might be introduced due to all the updates. Current version is kind-off sorted IMO.

So which one should I go for?
I would suggest you to wait for new version.

I'm using current generation dominar but it's not mine but I'm also planning to get it in March or April.

The updates are worth waiting for.
I'm not referring to fancy exhaust or USD forks but better radiator performance, better instrument cluster which I personally prefer.
    And other small improvements.

So it's up to you how you prefer.

It might possible to get discount on old version Dominar when next version get launched to clear up the stock.

Some how I feel next update is atleast a year far off. Because now they have to prepare for BS stage VI emission norms. I read somewhere that for 2 wheeler BS VI technology is not available and it has to be developed, in price sensitive market like India, I am sure they all must be trying to find technology which can be cost effective. I think they should learn some thing from WV and germans.

Guys i can hear tapping sound from engine.
The sound comes only in 5tg gear and at specific condition.
If I've pillion and I'm on 5th gear at 3k to 3.5k rpm, if I twist the throttle at that rpm I can hear a big tak-tak sound for atleast 2-4 seconds continuously. Once I'm about 4.5k rpm the sound will stop. (Sound is almost like engine tapping sound which was coming from my RX135) Intensity of sound increases if I'm driving on lil bit upward elevated road or ghat section.
Should I go to service centre ?

Thats sound is totally expected dude.
3k rpm is not a range to be when you're in 5th gear.
It's the same sound when you ride Splendor in top gear at low speed. Dominar somehow manage to get you beyond its power band I.e. 4.5k rpm range and then you're good to go.

Avoid low rpm runs in higher gear. It develops stress on crank and gears.
Gear down to 3rd or pull a clutch a little (not recommended everytime) to get the job done.

Considering that knocking sound which would sound like "khatatata" and goes away with increase in RPM would mean you're lugging the engine which in turn is load knocking the engine, not a good way to ride the motorcycle. Extremely low RPM, coupled with a higher gear and high load would easily knock any engine for that matter. Keep the rpms up when climbing steeps say above 4.5 and see if this sound comes. If it doesn't, it's your riding style that has to be adjusted accordingly. Try shifting at upper RPM band, it should solve your issue.

              Cheers!

There could be multiple sources of vibration, the headlamp cover assembly (fairing as some call it), the number plate, the tank cover, etc. In my case, it was the tank cover, but its an easy fix from the service center.

Shift down... Learn to get your speed and gear right, engine won't knock...

                    Dear Friends,

An important note on engine oil :

It is a known fact that manufacturers revise the recommended brand of engine oil from time to time. It was TOTAL (and I believe it still is?) for Dominar, but I have heard of SVCs running out of recommended oil, be it engine oil, brake oil, or even chain oil.

Please insist on filling with only 10w50 grade oil from your favourite brand, or carry the oil yourself in case they don't have it. Don't blindly believe they will fill it with TOTAL every time.

Yeah. When it comes to bajaj. I can't trust their mechanic. Just because they're not very well informed n educated about dominar service. They take it for granted. That's why few days ago I had a 2nd free service of my dominar at 5k kms. I got the oil changed. And he filed with total from 1.5 litre container. At the place i get it serviced they're indeed very well informed and done very well job. They even tightened up my mirrors which I never complained about. And they took the engine cowl off before removing oil. Which is neat. I heard some SVC doesn't do it.

Rear cowl is removed to access the magnetic filter which is located at the bottom center of the engine. If they don't remove rear cowl it means they are not cleaning that filter which is not a good thing to do.

Its the body part just below the engine which protects the engine from small rocks and mud(to some extent) and which covers the exhaust a bit.

Cowls are like hoods, the front small fairing on the headlamp is also a cowl, and the rear black part above the taillight is also a cowl the bottom plastic part in front of the engine is the bottom cowl and it the part we are talking about.
