    Hello guys..

    I reside in Pune..
Took my delivery in the month of September and now I've completed 2000Km..
Rides till now were Ladghar and Lavasa...

I have a problem, not sure how minor/major is it..
I noticed since yesterday that when I cross 45kmph I get a very particular noise, sounds like sparrow chirping..
It's very annoying.. Anyone any idea about it..

    *kindly help*

      Below are my observations:
      a. Stock Horn sucks - any suggestion for dual horn - Apache / Pulsar 150, etc. Not trumpet horns please.
      b. When on move and pull cluck for slowing down, RMP is around 2-2.5K - is it normal? Comes down slowly and is steady on 1.5K when standing still.
      c. Gear shift makes THUD sound (specially 1st gear and sometimes when shifting down) - is it normal?
      d. Smooth engine specially when coming from TB 350.
      e. Please let me know the does and don't.
      A. Don't know. You can try the KTM horn though. Its louder than the Dominar horn.
      B. It is normal. Please give it time till first service. That's the ECU preventing the engine from stalling. You will get used to it.
      C. Yes. It's normal again. High power bikes have this trait. When on the move, try to rev match before shifting. Helps to shift the gear a lot smoother.
      E. Don't lug the engine. RPM band in the RPM limit is wide. Use it generously. Avoid running at constant RPM for long times
Don't use DRL mode even though it's present. It blinds oncoming traffic unnecessarily.
Do use good quality fuel and fill up the tank at least when the last bar starts blinking. Fuel pump should not run dry.
Use both brakes in a 60:40 ratio F:B so that you can brake faster since ABS is present.

Finally, Congratulations, welcome to the group and enjoy the bike.

I will check out, still I prefer Apache horns.

        Acknowledged! I will take care.

Don't use DRL mode even though it's present. It blinds oncoming traffic unnecessarily.

Thanks, I will this in mind.

Do use good quality fuel and fill up the tank at least when the last bar starts blinking. Fuel pump should not run dry.

I refill once the petrol symbol starts blinking and not wait for the last bar to blink.

I do it for all my life, still thanks!!

Congratulations on your new purchase. Matte Black is a looker.

Stock horn does not 'suck'. It is in keeping with newer pollution control regulations which should eventually lead to a much quieter environment we live in. The negative effects of noise are well documented, i would suggest spending some time reading about them. And no, a horn with a higher sound does not in anyway whatsoever help avoid accidents or bumping into people. It just irritates and confuses people into making more mistakes.

            Hi Dude,

The chirping sound comes from the loose chain/lack of lubrication
Take it to a service station to get your chain tightened and lubed
I get this sound whenever my vehicle covers 500+ kms after chain tightening
            Cheers!

              a. Use dual-horn with REALY from Pulsar 220/180/150, these are best suited, I use the same in my KTM.
              b. Normal, since it's an Fi system, ECU doesn't want to the engine stall when you downshift hard, so ECU keeps it at 2-2.5K when bike is in running state
              c. Perfectly normal
              d. Welcome to the club of RE ex-owners, enjoy the refinement(not as much as Yamaha/Honda though).
              e. I repeat, I repeat, change and replace the oil fully at 4000kms. Don't listen to what stupid manual or SVC says about using Bajaj oil, use Motul only either 5100/7100/300v, and don't top-up or wait till 5000-7500kms.

                a. Is the realy available in Bajaj showroom? Or I need to get it from aftermarket? Yes my thoughts are I will either fix the Pulsar /Apache set of horns.
                b. OK.
                c. OK.
                d. Yup thanks and totally agree with you.
                e. Sure I will change the Oil every 3.5 K KMS, irrespective what Bajaj service guys say. Should I change it from 1st service or wait for few KMs(say 2k/5k KMs). Are you referring to Motul 300v² Ester Core Organic Base 10W-50 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil?

Totally agree with your thoughts but still, Horn is too low for my liking. Just wanted to upgrade to decent sounding horn like in Pulsar or Apache.

                    Hi,

I believe its mainly due to up and down motion of the chain at that speed , as upwards of certain speeds, the chain movement becomes more.
In my case the sound comes at around 50+ stays there untill you slow down.
Make sure that you tighten the chain also
                    Hope this helps!

ask for one of these part number for low and high tone, they belong to Pulsar 220F/180/150 respectively
                      e. 300v is not recommenced for city commute use which is an overkill, best option is to use 7100 20-50. Yes for 1st and 2nd service you can use whatever the showroom uses, from 3rd service on after 5K kms you can shift to this.

I bought a Matching horn, and fixed it. I know relay is the best, but fixed the horn without any relay. Wiring is simple. Connected from the other horn only, will send a pic later

Couldn't help but ask, any particular reason why you decided not to wait till the MY2019 Dominar is launched. I mean the rumoured launch is in Diwali which is hardly less than a month away

price hike and features that will be enhanced didn't attract me, at that point in time.

Moreover, rumors of launching the bike in Diwali was not out when I bought the bike on 10th Oct'18 or else I might have given a thought.

Ok the wire the in box means, I'll will assume it's single wire from stock horn to dual horn wire conversion.

Stock single horn circuit is designed for 2A, Roots Smartone each horn is 1.5A making it 3A in total.

So if you use the the Roots horn with stock wire without relay, it will work no issues but since both LT and HT horns will only get 2A in total , because of this the horn will not sound or reach it's maximum rated dB rating(means the horn will not output maximum possible sound) as it's getting 2A in place of required 3A.

You can try it out without relay, if you are satisfied the sound output no issues, there will be no impact of wiring/battery as horn circuit already comes with a built-in fuse.

No offence man, but you didnt give any valid reason as to why, except using a lot of adjectives in your statement. And of course, repetition . But yeah, i think even iam not comfortable with the 10k change interval. Btw, Bajaj official oil is made by TOTAL. Its quite clear on the bottle.
