Thanks for quick reply mate, What's the service interval ? Is it same as mentioned in Manual or changed ? Cuz when i took delivery of bike, the Popular Bajaj Corp, Mandya, Karnataka say the service interval has been reduced to 120 instead of 240 days and third free service at 240 instead of 360 days.. Is it true or are they trying to make a fool of me ?
I've got mine delivered yesterday. From Hunk (Sold) to Unicorn 160 ( still present ) and got Dominar 2019 edition.
I'd like to jot down some points that would describe my views purely personal on these bikes after some experience.
1) Hunk (2012)- was most comfortable among these 3 bikes, lack of power but utterly reliable, never breakdown or needed to change anything at 40k kms, I ride very sedately. On highways above 70 kmph it felt strained and i was not happy with it. Gave 45-47 kmpl.
2) Unicorn 160 (2015) - Much better performer than Hunk, can sustain highway speeds at 80-90 kmph with pillion. Very Reliable bike. Suspension Comfort was BAD, really BAD for both rider and pillion. But quick enough in traffic and shortest U-turn among these 3 bikes. Very decent bike other than comfort. Gave me 42-45 kmpl. Kms ridden 21k.
3) Dominar 400 (2019) - I'm on Running in period, done 56 kms only. VIBES ARE THERE on handlebar and footpegs. Bajaj has done a bad job at placing Odometer, Time on Secondary display. Still too early to comment on this bike , but initial impressions are good. Feels good. Much better fit and finish. Refinement is somewhat it can't match with Honda/hero. I think i might live with that, only time will tell. Still I'm very happy with my purchase. Upgrading from 160 to 390 cc is huge lol.

I have booked my dominar on Monday and when I asked sales guys about warranty on battery then he said there is one year warranty on battery.
After showing him manual he said then whatever manual says is right.
So I would say go with Manual which you have received because they will end up saying the same.
And I will receive my bike on Thursday then I can give you further update.

This is a paint defect, and they are covered under warranty. Do not ignore them, because bubbles in paint get worse over time, till you need a new paint job.Originally posted by Abhii97 View PostHi guys , New Updates
Bike has run 800 kms
Oil leaking from the left side . Will show it to svc tomorrow
Paint scratches and tiny bubbles . Dont know what caused them . Any ideas how to get rid of them
Otherwise running pretty good . Getting an avg of 25 in the city and vibes have reduced and gears are smooth

Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Thanks for the reply , I will ask the dealership from where i bought the bike next week since im not in town. Will try attaching better pics tomorrow .
On the oil leak , Svc applied araldite near the oil pressure sensor ( im not sure if im right) and now the leak seems to have stopped. Were they supposed to do this? And now i have araldite stains on a brand new engine. Svc said it would go after some days . Fingers crossed
I read that some other member also had the same issue where the svc changed the oil pressure sensor. I had asked my svc to check for that and report to me but instead did this. Im going back to them if the stains dont goLast edited by Abhii97; 06-26-2019, 02:32 AM.

No, i don think thats the right thing to do. In future while removing the left side engine cover, its going to be a hard time for the mechanic and there might be breakage.Originally posted by Abhii97 View PostThanks for the reply , I will ask the dealership from where i bought the bike next week since im not in town. Also, That is not the oil pressure sensor. Oil never flows on the left side of engine. Its probably the wires coming out of your dynamo and hall sensor.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hello friends , I am confused between Duke 250 and dominar 400. I have 100 km running daily. Will the duke 250 give better mileage than dominar 400 at speeds 70 to 90. ? What is the comparison between their city mileages? I don't drive rash usually except when I want to have some fun.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hello ppl. Took this beauty on June 21.coming from an R15v2, I just want to say one word on this " mind blowing". Here are some pictures to feast upon.
And also I am having an issue with the bike.
1.The engine warning light always comes on whenever I switch off the ignition and turning on after some run,say for example in a traffic.(third picture) 2.Also does the push starter takes some time to crank the engine comparing to r15?
Pls help me in this.if this is a serious one, I will get it checked it to svc today itself. Also suggest me a good svc in chennai as I am in madipakkam area.
Thanks a ton.
Ride safe.

So what do you think i should do now?. Should i show it to another svc. The problem i find with svc is that new problems are created when they unnecesarily fiddle with the bikeOriginally posted by neeljinwala View PostNo, i don think thats the right thing to do. Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hi Guys,
I am writing a detailed explanation of my issue. Kindly help.
I have been owning my Dominar 400 non abs for less that 2 years and got problem with throttle for the past 2-3 months. I got my bike serviced at 9900 KM on 15th June 2019 (4th service). There is minor loss of power for 1 - 3 sec which seems to be randomly happening. Thought it was with the ECU and got it updated to the latest, 116/117 and also got my filter replaced. This eliminated most of the problem but still there is a slight throttle missing.
Also this issue is slightly reduced when the bike runs for 2- 3 KM as the engine gets to temperature. And my fuel is 3/4.
I am guessing it is an issue with fuel system? is the throttle body or sensor causing this?
Also the coolant level is a bit more than the max. Does it cause any problem? should I remove it ASAP?
Thanks

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
If looking for bajaj authorized SC then Khivraj, Kasturba Rd is the best among all SCs. (still cannot guarantee that bike will exit trouble free)Originally posted by ashislakra1989 View PostWhere in Bangalore the Bajaj SVC is best ? The bike once entered in SVC should be trouble free and not free trouble with it.
If looking for un-authorized SCs then Xtorque, Highlander, Torq92, Top Pro Bikes (Ajmal's Garage) are the ones who have the best reputation to solve issues in your bike. They are indeed costlier than bajaj SCs.

Not sure what you can do now given that its already glued. Let it be. If need (because of breakage) be in future, you can get the entire left side casing replaced. It shouldn't cost you a bomb! But take a note that bajaj engines are famous for these small leaks. Pulsar series would have quite a good amount of engine oil leak near cylinder head (i had this one), near gearbox, bottom of engine. If the oil leak is too much then always go for oil seal replacement rather than such hacks.Originally posted by Abhii97 View PostSo what do you think i should do now?. Generally if there is an oil leak, sometimes because of the sludge/metal shavings in the oil, it kind of packs the leak area and it stops leaking after a month or so. But when it doesn't you should ideally replace the seals/gaskets.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Thanks for the reply . Ill check for any more such oil leaks in the future and replace the gasket if required and one more update like many owners even my crash guard main nut broke because it had a slow fall . The crash guard is pretty good but now will have to find a way to remove the broken nut.
Im posting a lot of issues here recently . But I can assure any prospective buyers that this is one amazing bike except for a few negligible niggles which are part n parcel of any vehicle ownership
