Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Oh, KTMs too! Anyway, any idea from where one can source the hardened (stainless steel?) bolts? I wonder if this is a standard size/form bolt at all.Originally posted by kiran2508 View Post
I am not sure if I would have agreed to weld something there. Sounds risky to me.Originally posted by #bpk View Post
Try a different service centre. Or try calling the Bajaj PoC on Dominar to escalate it. As for other leg guards, I am guessing they would be fitting right into the chassis, and not on top of this bolt. And I would expect their bolts or fastener to be manufactured with better material.Originally posted by rookster View Post
I had a fleeting thought on that line too. But then realised it can't be by design. If it were, then the broken off part should have been easily removable and replaceable. You can't expect people (owners or mechanics) to sit down for couple of hours with drills and extractors every time they have a minor fall.Originally posted by ashwanth.r View Post
These are the ones I have - Stanley 94-171 5 Pc. Screw Extractor Set. They have served the purpose so far. I have found tools from Stanleys to be generally well made.Originally posted by ashwanth.r View PostLast edited by ghatotkatch; 06-16-2019, 12:38 AM.

Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hi guys , Got delivery of my dominar today. Drove 40 kms in mixed city traffic . An amazing bike i must say and vibes are minimal and not at all an irritation to me .

One thing i found is that when u engage the first gear there is a huge thud and the chain pulls . Is it common across the new dominars and do i have to report it to svc ?
Also Found that the bike pulls towards the right excessively when you leave the handle as reported by some owners
Other than these two issues the bike is amazing . Hats off to Bajaj for creating such a wonderful machine

I've sourced replacement bolts from Hardware shops which mainly sells stuff for carpentry or construction equipment, the same 8mm/10mm/12mm bolts purchased from there are found to be far superior in quality and harder than compared to the same size purchased from Automobiles shops,Originally posted by ghatotkatch View PostAnyway, any idea from where one can source the hardened (stainless steel?) bolts? The thread size and pitch will remain same of these bolts for 8/10/12mm bolts, only that the bolts sourced from Automobile shops have Allen heads where as most of the ones sourced from Hardware shops will have normal Hex heads or Philips heads(+ heads).Bajaj SuperFE 150 - Forever in my heart

The new Dominar has lot of things changed and the RVMs are a killer one .
*The bike pulling to the left or right will happen if the tyres has high pressure!! (Always maintain the recommended psi)Last edited by Aswinlogi; 06-16-2019, 05:47 AM.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
The thud sound is normal & happens with all of us in old Dominar as well as new one. I also got it checked on my bikes first service, nothing happened.

Will ask the svc to check the slack today when i go for serviceOriginally posted by ginzon View PostTo all...
If you face thud noise when shifting your gears up on 2nd and 3rd gear, go get your chain slack adjusted.. tighten up, you are good to go..
Did that yesterday and smooth as before..

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Guys, I face one weird issue with the front brake lever on my new 2019 dominar. The lever gets stuck for a nano second or so before it gets pulled in. This happens once or twice a day at-least. Should I be worried or is it normal?. Any insights on this would be helpful.

In a jugaadu country like ours, it doesn't even need a jugaad to take that number-plate off. The plate is riveted to the holder, which is BOLTED to the headlamp assembly! All you need is a spanner, and a new number-plate holder. Take the riveted one off, put the new one in, and voila! You have a new number plate. In a rare case that such a holder is not available off the shelf, I don't think it would cost more than 50-100 bucks to custom fabricate one.
I agree that 'High Security' Registration plates(HSRPs) aren't 100% tamper proof and also they can easily distort as the metal sheet used is very thin. I have seen many vehicles on road where the HSRPs are bent/twisted/distorted out of shape because of its poor quality. But there are other hidden features on the HSRPs, the most considerable one being the readability of number from a distance. If you observe the white part of plate closely, you can see that it is actually coated with reflective paint, so the number embossed in black would be clearly visible during night time. Also the numbers are easily recognizable on CCTV cameras.
MoRTH rules for High Security Registration Plates to be made mandatory on vehicles sold after April 1, 2019.
Also I read from the above links that starting April 1, 2019, all new vehicles are to be pre-fitted with HSRP by dealers(HSRPs being supplied by manufacturers). So I wonder that even before the permanent registration number is allotted to the vehicle how the dealers can pre-fit it.
