    Hello guys,

Posting after a long time on xBhp. I used to own a Pulsar 180 UG4, sold it in 2012 and got myself a car. After so many years
of car driving, the bike bug caught me again. I was looking to buy a 650 Interceptor, but after reading so many reviews penning down
the ergonomics and comfort of the bike, decided to look elsewhere. Searched the used market and found a 2017 Dominar selling for 1,00,000 Rs.
It has done 25000 kms and the owner is 2nd. I will check out the bike today or tomorrow I have a few questions for you guys, please answer if you can :

    1) Any specific issues I should look for in the bike while test riding ?

    2) How reliable will be the bike considering it has already covered 25K kms?

    3) Has Bajaj released any mechanical update in the bike for vibrations @4K rpm or anywhere in the rev range.

    Thanks,
    Abhi

P.S- It's not like I always do 65 kph @ 6th, I try to keep it at 70 kph or above.
I too weigh just about 50 kgs, so the bike does not even feel any weight.
If i'm just cursing leisurely, I often do it at 60 kmph on 6th gear, there is no engine lugging and the rpm is at about 3k, its all fine.

Make sure that the engine is not lugging, its safe to do 60-65 in 6th.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Crossed 11k kms in 9 months, soon the time to change chain sprocket will arrive..

Need to know whether brass chain sprocket kit are good like the regular ones? Not coz I'm a Bappi Lahiri fan but I wish to install a x-ring one and LRLMotors have only x-ring brass ones (I hate that golden look there, RIMs are good enough golden )..

Need to know the reliability and strength of those brass ones, if I have no regular option.. Also if any link for regular is available, kindly share..

Thanks a lot guys.. Happy HyperRiding...

This is the price quoted -
          Ex Showroom New Delhi 174125
          RTO - 14260
          Smart RC - 200
          Std accessories - 1940
          Insurance - 19858
          Something random - 685

I feel the insurance is high. Looking online at a few policies (policybazaar) am getting zero dep. insurance for 14-15K (IDV of 1,61,901). Can anyone shed some light on these figures so i can cross verify.
Showrooms always quote the insurance on the higher side, get it done from outside and get nill depreciation for 5 years as well, you will save a lot of money. Keep the idv as high as possible. And don't opt for the accessories

Instead of tightening the screws, disassemble the headlight assembly and put two sided tape wherever two parts are put on each other and then put it back together. This is what bajaj mechanics do at the service centers

              2) I'm not sure regarding the comparison to the r15, but once I hit the crank switch, the engine fires up. It takes like a second. Get your battery checked if you feel it takes longer.
Thanks for the reply. Got those things checked and everything fine now.

Since the bike has already covered 25k kilometers it would be requiring new front and rear tyres, chain set, disc brake pads, spark plugs and maybe a new battery. All these things apply if the owner has not already replaced them. Ask about any past accidents, look at the service records, test ride the bike and check the straight line stability of the bike. And if you can get the bike checked by a reliable bajaj mechanic that would be the best thing.
Look at the continental gt, i have booked one myself after riding 180 ug4 for 9 years

Did my first service on last friday at 950 kms. Getting vibrations exactly at 4500rpm and smoothens post that. Bike is getting better and better. Did 1650 kms till now. Loving each and every bit of the bike.
Did one 250kms ride right after the delivery but ridden at various speeds to bed in the engine. Also did Chennai-coimbatore-Chennai round trip and the bike is really a mile muncher. First impressions are good touring machine and a hooligan too. Wind blasts is high post 110kmph and seats are not comfy for really long rides.

Planning on some modifications like windshield, gel seats, ceramic coating/ppf and GPS tracker. Pls suggest any place that I can procure it locally here in chennai.

Also please add me in whatsapp in chennai dominar club.

Will post a detailed long time after 5000kms soon.

                  Ride safe. Cheers.

Go with TVS Allen bolts. Also if the crash guards are interconnected then the in between straight piece should be fastened after completing the main frames.
All after market crash guards have some misalignment, check the same.

                      Answer to your 1st point:
Signs of accident, Self start should not give you any issue, bike is pulling to one side etc. are the normal things to be checked. Also, ask him about the service center from where he has got the bike serviced. as that service station will have all the record of the work done on the bike.

                      Answer to your 2nd point:
I live in NCR & know few riders who have 50,000 Km ~ 60,000 Km on odo. They have never faced any issue. The bike is running smoothly, apart from Tyre, sprocket change & service it didn't required anything. These are single hand ridden bikes.

Personally, I have done 31,000 Km in past one & half year no issues till now.

                      Answer to your 3rd point:
No mechanical update, they released a anti vibrations kit which included few rubbers padding for area below tank. Though, it didn't changed anything as per users. A clamp was also released to hold the chain rubber in place.

Thanks fellows. I went to see the bike, took a test ride. The coolant, oil levels were fine. The owner told me that he had got the front fork replaced as it was bent (no accident). I took the bike at speeds upto 80 kmph, the engine was relaxed but there were hell lot of vibrations from lower tank area, below the front seat, handlebars. The vibrations were very pronounced, I was very disappointed with that. Also, the acceleration was so linear that I was surprised as to where did all those 30 plus horses went. Did never felt that I was riding a 34 Bhp bike. The owner had got the bike serviced just 500 kms ago. Overall, both my heart and mind rejected the bike. Will take the test ride of new Dominar now as the old one did'nt excite me. Smoothness level in terms of vibrations were a lot worse.

There are a lot of options one can go for apart from the 1 year comprehensive and 5 years 3rd party which the showrooms normally offer. The best option is to go for 5 years comprehensive + 5 years 3rd party + 5 years nill depp. I don't know what combination the showroom guys offered you
