I procured the Fancy number from the RTO on my own...But once I gave the go-ahead to the dealer to start the process - I didn't take more than 6 -7 working days

I must say, bike feels HEAVY. Its not as flickable as the other bikes.
I can confirm the buzz at 3.5-4 k rpm. Its nothing major, it just reminds you that you are actually riding a bigger engine [emoji12]
Also, I felt the rear breaks to be very good. I'm coming from an RTR180 and I've also been riding P220 since a couple of days.
yes bike is huge can be compared with other 500cc up naked sport bike in category (In diameter and width) i can say as i came from duke 200 and when i took a test ride the handles where ahead and kind of a lean in the body and a big tank in the middle a huge presence. happy riding and congratulations.

Today I had the first fall on Dominar. Speed was near zero. I was turning it U. Heavy bike with my heavy pillion (she doesn't read this thread) with my not so heavy frame caused it. However luckily no damage caused to any of us. Will take it once a year wake up call

              • Main Stand Puncture Repair?

As we all know dominar does not have a main stand. Today I found a nail in my rear tyre of my dominar 400!
luckily the tyre wasn't punctured as the nail was not perpendicular to the tyre, it was more of a slant.

But in the event of a puncture, how is the tyre repair shop supposed to repair it? for normal punctures I know they would not need to remove the wheel. But what if there is a need to remove the wheel.

Any ideas? And can you get a main stand installed?

There is a thing called Ghodi or tripod like stand which is also used for cars i have seen some tyre walas use that for changing the rear trye of d390 and cbr250 the place it on the swing arm on both sides .

Local mechanics do it the jugaad way. Put the bike in center stand remove the wheel and do the tire replacement (this is for the tire replacement, you'd get a paddock stand by then from lots of aftermarket players in India) Secondly, in case of punctures, same policy applies here, side stand, pull the bike to one side, and rotate the rear wheel with the help of an assistant.

The same has been explained by Bullet Baba on Dominar 400 group on facebook & later on Thrustzone.

                      I quote:

Dear comrades, today I am writing my observations about longterm servicing matter.
Oil Change: As we all know, the D400 is based on KTM 390 engine. This engine has a secondary mesh filter present on the bottom of the crankcase(apart from the primary mesh filter which is inside the drain bolt) present onthe crankcase. ( Not present in KTM/NS 200 engine) During oil change, thisfilter needs to be removed & cleaned.
Dominar has a different exhaust system than the Duke 390. It'sexhaust bend pipe runs downwards. But In Duke 390, the exhaust bend pipe runssideways, away from bottom area. Hence there is no need to remove the silencerin Duke 390. But in D400, the bend pipe obstructs the removal of this filter .So the fiber underbelly & exhaust bend pipe must be removed for a properprocedure of oil change.
Spark Plugs: Dominar has 3 spark plugs, of which cleaning thecenter plug will be difficult, because the tank must be removed to access it.Fuel Tank is an inner metal tank, covered by fiber panels on the outside.
One of the major area where D400 & Duke 390 differ is theengine head. Dominar head uses Single camshaft. Due to this, Dominar has to userocker arms to drive the valves, and the valve clearance are to be manuallyadjusted using feeler gauges.
Dominar uses 3 spark plugs to be more fuel efficient, for 3spark plugs to work, 3 ignition coils are present in the motorcycle, for whomto work in return, higher wattage alternator & stronger magnet are used inthe engine.
Duke uses Dual camshafts, single spark plug. Another importantdifference is that, the Duke uses SHIMS to maintain valve clearance. Thus thecamshafts directly drive the valves via SHIMS. Rocker arms are not present dueto this.
Air Filter: is located below the petrol tank. to access it,literally half of the bike must be stripped. Including side panels, both seats, tank panels, side shrouds, & then the tank shell itself.
Valve Clearance: The D400 has 4 valves, & the engine headaccess is located below the air filter box. To set the valve clearance, airfilter must be removed, along with rest of the parts mentioned above.
I feel Bajaj engineers could have done a better job duringR&D. Perhaps they never thought of "How to service thismotorcycle"
I am also afraid that majority of Bajaj mechanics would skipservicing few areas because they are difficult to operate or they might damagefew parts in the procedure. Home-servicing too is difficult, taking up lot oftime, patience & effort.

                      Thanks,
                      -
                      Bullet Baba
Beautifully complied, though would love to add some more color. Actually, SHIMS or no shims almost all vehicles have cam shaft and rocker arms. The Duke 390 has a DLC finger follower or rocker arm which in turn is actuated by the camshaft. And I would like to second on the point of how PITA this motorcycle is to engage in on even basic service, from DIY enthusiasts already.

                      Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                      The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

"Today I was caught by cops for using bright led headlight in daytime. I tried making them understand, but in vain. They let me leave after I paid a fine of 400rs. with charges of using aftermarket LED headlights. This is so dumb. What's happening guys ? This is pathetic. What do you guys feel and what is the solution for this?"

Apparently, he's from Bangalore. I pm him asking him to carry the user manual along, and try showing the cop about the AHO and that it's a rule to make it mandatory in all the motorcycles. He said, he tried explaining but the cops didn't understand or didn't wanna understand :P
                        Cheers guys,

They put a stool or a piece of wood under the exhaust and tilt the bike on the side stand. Even local puncture repair walas know that trick almost perfectly.

This is hilarious but Bangalore traffic police does listen to valid points. Thisthough is 200% valid. He should have shown the online press release or bajaj's official website along with statement to get out of the situation.

I know it's easier to write than handling those cops, but next time guys do give it a try. This if continued will be a huge issue for Dominar owners and a way to mint money for others.

I have booked my bike on Feb 1st and expected delivery is Feb 15th.

I am looking forward for the following modification:

                              1. Gear Shift Indicator
                              2. Turn signal blinker modification.
                              3. Battery Voltage display
                              4. Engine temp display
                              5. Cut off switch for DRL
                              6. new set of horn
                              7. Extra FAN for radiator depending on the temperature that the engine reaches. (I know that it does not heat up as much as KTM 390 but still want to try to cool it further)
                              8. Handle bar end lights (will have white light and then turn signal light integrated)
                              9. Low fuel voice alert (last thing to do as it takes lot of time).
                              10. Security alarm with GPS.

Hello, its your own bike and nobody has a say in what you do but just some suggestions. You have a wonderful list of mods, i myself want 2-3 from this list .
                                That being said
Why do you want a battery voltage meter, all this will clutter your dash. Until you are not in a mood to put a hell lot of lighting equipment , battery meter won't be necessary.

For drl cutoff, its in built in the wiring , so to cut it off , you need to alter wires, that if caught , will void the warrenty of your brand new bike. God forbid , but incase thier is a factory fault or if you had some accident and then they caught the alterations, could result in problems.

Coming to engine fan, as you mentioned it doesn't heat up as much as duke, radiator and fan takes too much science, putting an extra fan up their might cause more harm then profit.

Take care of the gps, they are known to suck the hell out of battery, never a good idea!
But i wish you all the best and do post every update here 😁🖒😀
