After using close to 1000 kms on the odo the suspension improveed a lot. It's softer now.

      Hi Friends,

New to the community and this thread! But have been an avid reader of many posts/threads at xBHP since ages. Really looking forward to getting my hands on my white D400 , got it booked yesterday. It was this thread and couple others which let me zero onto D400 , TBH500 was also on my radar.
Subscribed to this thread so that I can be aware of what to expect from the machine..keep sharing your experiences, it has been a great learning and of absolute worth.

      Cheers,

My honest and humble opinion about dominar 400 is its more manageable than other tourer. It's new aged but didn't find any issue doing service of it myself. It's easy to open up and do work upon. Parts are easy to get. Had a squcking sound from breaks so opened up last week just to find out pads are shared with pulsar s. So acute problem of parts will never be an issue like my old Cbr 250. Clutch and break leaver s are also shared. Suspension is getting soft with daily use.
For vibration still thinking about changing the footpegs to Honda one.
Even with 4 extra led auxiliary led s and driving beam of hid along with stock lights charging system never showed any sign of stress in amp meter.
Need to do something about pillion seat though for long rides. It's inadequate for all day touring in my humble opinion.
One more thing i have seen if i put more load on front by tank bag and flank bag, the bike feels more planted.
Apache mirrors are doing a good job for rear view of matters. Definitely better than stock. Added extenders will do wonders.
Well after 1000 kms I should say it's more easy to live with then Honda as I Can get all the parts. I don't have to see service center. But I miss my Cbr. No offence though.

Today while going to office from home it was raining. I felt like the rear tyre skids in corners. i was unable to take corners confidently in wet roads. Is this the the problem with the tyres or anything else? I have completed 1100 kms on the odo. Previously i owned Hornet. It was not that scary while cornering in wet roads with hornet. Is it due to the weight of Dominar?

            Hi Jayanta,

I had a wheel spin moment yesterday too, took a left handed hard turn out of my colony. The visibility is good both ways so I could see there was no traffic in either direction and gave it more juice than needed, there was some dirt on the road and i had a mild wheelspin/fishtail. Came out with a grin plasted under my lid. But i guess If you want better grip on wet, upgrade to Michelin. I had done that in NS and it made a world of difference.

The torque of Dominar is high, so you need to be careful in the turns. Also the tyre pressure, tyre grip, cold/hot tyres make a difference.

Basically, each bike handles a bit differently.

On a separate note, the dreaded "loss of throttle power" is plaguing my bike too, I havent completed the run in but I guess the ECU reset will have to be done. I have not seen the video shared here, and am a total noob when it comes to opening up parts of the bike or disconnecting battery terminals, so may need to take it to the service centre or ask my old mechanic to help out after seeing the video myself.

Kinda bummed out that such issues are cropping up. I mean since its happening with so many people, Bajaj seriously lapsed in the testing part i guess. And I do realize that this is a serious issue because if it happens in the middle of an overtake, one may end up becoming the hood ornament of the vehicle coming from the opposite direction.

I was going in constant speed. It should not happen even on MRF Revs C1.I have heard that it is not that bad tyre that it would skid.

But I was just going in constant speed 50-55 kmph. I have not even opened the throttle. So It was not supposed to skid with that speed and in new tyre. Tyre pressure was ok may be little bit more

I suggest you drive both in city n highway to ride on all gears. In city you will hardly get a chance to drive in 6th gear.

Don't drive aggressively, don't try to see if you can touch the RPM limiter. Don't give the bike to others to do test drives or for fun drive. Go smoothly for first 2k KM and you will enjoy rest of the years to come.
I think it is better to use high octane petrol for first few thousand km of a new bike. Power-petrol or speed-petrol will be smooth on the walls of a new engine.

Shorting the positive and negative wires after disconnecting the battery should reset the ECU fast, as it will drain all the capacitors.

Typically the first rains bring a lot of grime , dirt and other slippery substance in the road and one should be very careful even with the best of tyres. The real test of the tyres will be after a bit of prolonged rain when all these foreign substance gets washed away.

The new manual for the dominar says a oil change interval of 5000kms and not 10000kms.. Also, the recommended oil isn't just bajaj oil anymore.

                          Hi Wolverine,

I want to change the stock horn and would like to know if we can replace it with single piece which produce more sound than the stock horn without any wiring. If so, please provide me a model.

Agreed, because i by mistake did a power wheelie when exiting the corner in order to check the grip of the rear tyre on concrete road but the tyre was stuck like anything on the road that front tyre had to come up so i don think that tyres are that bad imo.

There were too many mistakes and typos in the earlier version of the manual. Hope they correct them in the new version.

Nope. I checked. The mistakes are still there. This is the only change.
