  • Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread

    Dear Domi Bikers,

Am a new and proud owner of D400 which I purchased from KLN Bajaj, Chennai. She was very responsive and feels like the movie Avatar where every rider should get connected to the beast .

Except for a clunk while downshifting to 1st gear, everything is smooth. I found that when the timing of clutch and gear shifting is good, then the clunk sound is reduced significantly. So far have cloaked 100 kms in the last three days.

I just have a small query of mine. Is it ok to take my bike to 400 Km to and fro journey before first service. If i revv within the limits, will it be ok?

Thanks guys again. If i knew about this bike, I owe to this thread.

Also, the booking process is online, but then what happens is sometimes customers who have booked before are not able to arrange finances in time when the bike arrives. In such a case the dealer then gives that available bike to you if your payment is processed.

As far as meet ups and rides are concerned, no dealer does it. There was just one ride organised in Pune and that too by Bajaj.

          Hope this helps.
Thanks for ur reply! Wouldn't this also mean that people who did PDI and rejected those bikes that would also be "in-stock" with the dealer?

At most what we do in a PDI is check for scratches.. Which you could also do before choosing your bike.. If you are happy with it then go ahead, or else you could reject it..

One way of checking that is, if the bike you are checking already has fuel, then someone had checked it and probably decided to take another bike.

Try to focus more on engine sound, vibrations than minor cosmetic glitches.

Ideally, if your bike is dry and they fuel it for the first time, it should typically start in the first attempt after connecting the battery. Let it idle without throttle and wait to see if the radiator fan turns on.

                    Cheers.

Also i would suggest that if there is no India group for dominar owners lets create one. It will be great for guys going on a trip. This way we can meet with dominar owners in other states and tag along for rides if possible. Just a suggestion.
Bhai pm me ur number ill senf u the invite link for Bagga link karol bagh dominar grp, it is one of the biggest here in delhi, or simply ask sourabh singh at bagga link karol bag to add u to the group, i guess u got the bike from bagga .
And for the India group there is one on face book created by Omar bin Abdullah , called Dominar owners group it has around 8.5k members. U can join it.

All the potential buyers/owners/fans/haters are most welcome. Everyone are requested to share their views/reviews good or bad. Tip and suggestions. Complaints and issues. All under one place.

Kind of disagree here as i got the delivery of my bike in the first lot and on the 2nd day of delivery and i picked my bike from 3 bikes present in the same shade(since the dealership is a very big one and the got bulk lot on the first 2 days).
I started all three bikes before choosing mine and all has battery and some fule in the tank. But all the bikes there were freshly unloaded from the truck.

I have messaged you my whatsapp number. Yes i got it from bagga but not from KB. That shouldn't matter i guess.

I have one question. In the manual it wqs written that the customer id will be messaged to the registered number. I havent got one. Will it be needed at the first service as mentioned in the manual? Should i talk to the dealer tomorrow as day after tomorrow i will be going for the service?

Even I didn't get any customer id , but i guess it would be the mobile mumber as you would be getting service related msgs on it and also the satisfaction code.
But do ask for it and let me know too.

Same with me, today i had my dominar 1st free service @ 729 kms. The sales rep asked me for the booklet and had it filled up, i was surprised that they noted the battery details again by accessing them physically (earlier done during pdi).

The service guys drained the oil and filled new oil (motul 7100 10w 50 as they did not have bajaj oil : been bought by me from outside sc). They washed my bike and dried, on insisting they replaced the oil filter after drying the bike.
Then they had the service warning deactivated.

I also had the clutch adjusted along with the rvms.

Prior to leaving the sc, I checked for any leakage from the filter cap and observed nothing, however, on reaching my office i smelt burning oil and smoke fumes were visible. On inspection is observed oily bottom of the oil filter cap - what should i do, should i wait and see if the problem is still there or go back to the sc.

Bajaj says something as a rule and does not follow up whether their dealer follows them or not. They also seem not to be able to provide support to their dealers in respect of spares and timely delivery.

Yes, the bike is smoother now.

Ok. So i went to the dealer and they dont know anything about customer id being sent by phone. They asked me talk at Karol Bagh dealership when i will go for the service.
