Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
I would say yes. But that's not the way it goes for everyone.Originally posted by vivz1989 View PostHello sman999
What's your take on the dominar shld I go for it or no?
You get what you pay for. Take good care and it will last longer than you think. So far no one came up with quality issues like in the RE himalayan. But long term reliability is something that can't be advised as of now. Every essential part seems to be doing good.Originally posted by vivz1989 View PostBudget is 2 so my only worry is the quality
I had a ns 200 was not quit happy so in town minds
I really like the mojo too
I also heard that the dominar abs is not that nippy what's your call
MOJO - refined than the dominar, less viby, more comfortable saddle. But lack of spares. service quality, svc's are where the dominar makes up pretty damn good. I would not suggest MOJO.
If you are looking for pillion comfort within city rides it is quite OK. Barable for at least 30 mins. Anytime after that or after 30+kms it starts to hurt. Try a gel padding and that should solve the issue.Originally posted by vivz1989 View PostI like dominar but iam concerned about the pillion iam heavy and my gal friend too so I want a comfortable bike of city as well as long rides
Don't go by others words, gather opinions, insights about thier choices and choose wisely, whole heartedly.. All the best.Ride Safe!

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
sman999 here u go brother. And for others this is how the revv limiter post the latest ecu update.
And for people facing stalling issue, i too faced that but only on the initial ride post the update. The fact is that before the update the bike free rolls in 1st gear till 11kmph but now it only free rolls till 5kmph means u just need to adjust ur throttle input accordingly . Now it needs lil bit more throttle in the first gear or in low rpm i never faced this stalling again after the initial ride.
zma0101 soni bhai plz correct me if i am wrong.

Any reason settling with dominar?......Duke 390 2017 is also a good bikeOriginally posted by Ghostfreak View PostMojo is a good bike...if you like the styling and can live with it. Dominar is certainly better.
About the ABS, it doesn't feel that good... But don't take my word for it as I've never used a bike before with ABS... Maybe that's how it is supposed to work..
Or maybe just maybe it's bcoz of those tires or brake pads or what not.
You gotta take the test ride before making up your mind.
I was in the market to buy duke390 but settled for dominar.

Mojo is super heavy bro.. from tight parking lot very hard to take it out..Originally posted by vivz1989 View Postsame here I can't ride slow ✌ Kool mahn thanks a lot I guess I'll go for dominar
Dominar is heavy but you wont feel the weight that much but long U turn (turning radius) and there you will feel the heaviness.
City commute slow rides.. dominar is heavy .. you will definitely feel that .. Mojo another story..
Duke 390 is very nimble but it would cost a bomb.. still its worth the money.. I had 200 NS 2016 DUke 390 and now 2017 Duke 390..
Have driven dominar from friends and if you need any help .. let me know in PM.. i willLast edited by srisathiyan89; 05-30-2017, 08:05 PM.

If you can extend your budget.. Guess D390 2017 model is 2.7 or 2.75 in mumbai.. go for it..Originally posted by vivz1989 View PostBudget is 2 so my only worry is the quality

Build quality is superior.. the extra money you pay will be well justified.. with new looks. light weight. premium materials and electronic packages they added..
If you are looking for pillion comfort.. try yamaha fz25.. one of the best cushioned seats in market.. and good bike with good build quality

Hello, am wondering if you had over inflated the tyres? There was an unexpected rain and I did not had time to stop. Instead, I was not even riding under normal limits.Originally posted by Ghostfreak View PostI'm not happy with the performance of tyres specially when road conditions change...today i was riding it in rain...i didn't even lean..was taking a long curve to get off the highway and bam rear tyre went out of line twice.. For a moment i thought I'm gonna fall or slide but i somehow managed.
And it is not the first time it happened..
Lemme know what you guys think of it
Shall i change my tyres to something better...
I mean even if I'm not leaning..it was just a tiny tiny incline to the left how could the tyre can go out of line?
But tyres were coping up just fine. Sure these aren't slicks but they do carry decent grip.
BTW.. have you watched this?

Hi, apart from the regular check-up, I suggest a few more checks.Originally posted by BAMBI143 View PostHi all..been away from biking for a yr or two..had fz 16 and cbr 250 earlier sold both..planning to return.. test ridden a dominar 400..haven't been able to find issues mentioned in this forums..may be they have kept the test bike well maintained..currently sorting out finances ..no waiting period, on road all inclusive price in Kolkata is 1.83L for abs bajaj hiked price by 2k on 25th May.. any word of advice guys like pdi list or things to keep in mind.. also how to get exact manufacturing date pls let me know..
1) check the right side (that circular cover at the extreme right of the engine) for any oil leakage. Bajaj has still not managed to fix it for me.
2) release the throttle at 10kmph and listen to the sound of the engine. If you hear anything apart from chain rattle and engine sound, refrain from picking it up. My bike has been producing strange rubbing sound from clutch and yet again.. no fix provided.
3) I would suggest that you verify that new ECU update is already done.
4) notice clutch play. 1-2 mm gap should be present.
5) check coolant and oil level (including the break oil bank).
6) this might seem odd but do not let them peel off the plastic. You'll need it in future to cut the exact marking.. when you choose to use better screen protector.
7) Take a short spin and let her do 4.5k RPM. If you can live with the vibration now, you'll be alright after 1st service. Unfortunately.. my dominar.. too bad.
8) You are buying a premium bike from not so premium seller. Don't laugh it out. Be thorough.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Service Engineer wanted to check the bike's fuel pump and mentioned that bad fuel could also be causing the engine to stall.Originally posted by zma0101 View PostCannot be adjusted manually , it's all linked to ecu .. the ideal rpm is 1600.. which is the normal.. there are some bikes which has faced the stalling issue. Ride it for a day or two, part aggressive part gentle .. let it settle.. though technically speaking ..once the update is done it should behave according to the cpmmand given by the new software.. but sometimes in some bike it takes time.. Now what happens if even after 2-3 days ou still undergo the stalling issue.. Unfortunately, you will have to re visit the service center ..and tell the head technicall depatment that the ecu update wasn't done properly..and they will have to re do it .. once this is done ride for 10kms on a normal speed .. and then test your bike.. it should work ..
Infact He was recommending BP Speed or HP Power to be used.
Given the bike for checking the stalling issue at the service center.
Will update once I get it back.
Cheers.

Yes I've watched this video before and maybe just maybe the tyres could be over inflated... Do you think it's better to opt for better tyres and trade in these mrf revz.?Originally posted by xearoum View PostHello, am wondering if you had over inflated the tyres? What do you think about filling in nitrogen instead of air?

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
I might not be adding any awesome info but inherently, the Bajaj bikes I have owned works well with BP fuel. Best bet would be to get Shell Unleaded Normal. You should steer away from HP. They've got notorious rapport with Bajaj bikes. It's an immediate effect - the bike runs hotter, harsher and doesn't sound good too.Originally posted by I Ride Alone View PostService Engineer wanted to check the bike's fuel pump and mentioned that bad fuel could also be causing the engine to stall.

Nitrogen will hardly make any difference. Scientific generic reasoning is - Air is 78.x% nitrogen. I'd suggest to get the air check up done and get the reading 1-1.5 PS more than the rating given on the swingarm.Originally posted by Ghostfreak View PostYes I've watched this video before and maybe just maybe the tyres could be over inflated... Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
I've filled 29in front and 32 in rear... That's as per manual... But as the weather is quite hot here.. That makes air expand and in turn over inflated... And you're telling me to go 1-2psi above...😓 Confused I'mOriginally posted by Akash.Yadav View PostI might not be adding any awesome info but inherently, the Bajaj bikes I have owned works well with BP fuel.
