Buy either Fiber glass Helmets or if Wallot allows, a Carbon fiber Helmet...Plastic helmets and others cause head injury in a crash .Originally posted by deepDmnr View Post

Regarding exhaust try not to change atleast until 2000kms of run in period.Originally posted by ksibendra View PostPlanning to get a ixil ehaust for my dominar.. anybody who have made changes with the exhaust..??

One more thing actually my bae is running 1100kms now.. need to know whether the ecu update is done in all servicings..?? Mention whenever it will be done..
Thanks in advance brothers..
To check if ECU is updated Rev the engine in idling, if the rpm maxes out at 8500 then it is upto date and no further updates had been out yet.Ride Safe!

They'd need a more precise tool/method to spot warpage.. like a dial gauge. Alas our folks are rudimentary when it comes to checking certain stuff.Originally posted by Unforgiv3n biker View PostWell, thank you for the info bro. Will get it checked at CBE on Monday and let you know what happens.
They said, that the jerking whike hardbraking is infact a symptom of disc warp, though they couldn't find any. I was there when they checked for it. They had some kind of a white chalk/marker thing and rotated the front wheel to check for a bend or something.
Will try riding another Dominar tomo, meeting the clan at CBE.
That's some sad thing, reg your d200. I'll make sure whatever happens it is in front of me
Anyway, If they decide that the disc is bad but tell you that they will fix it 'on a lathe' by removing some material off it or unbend it by hammering it, then do not settle for such a fix. you should insist on a replacement under warranty and if necessary shoot an email to bajaj customer care.

ksibendra someone here in delhi has installed iixl exhaust his name is yashveer he is member of DOC Delhi . Cost was around 28500 including fitting. But brother that exhaust is specifically made for tnt300 which is a twin cylinder bike. And also it is too loud and can cause discomfort on log rides. IMO it is better to stick with oe exhaust.
I haven't seen it personally but i think rohanspeedofreaksharma has seen it as he is also in DOC.

Thanks for your reply brother.. even i have checked the video but it sounds louder as if its fitted in a pulsar 150.. its better i will stick to the stock exhaust as it has a bassy sound..Originally posted by Ijs View Postksibendra someone here in delhi has installed iixl exhaust his name is yashveer he is member of DOC Delhi . Actually i was thinking to make it sound like a benelli
But benelli's sound will always be a classy and dominar will always be dominar in bassy sound..

This is how the underneath of rider seat looks and I had connected two line separately for mobile charger and 12v cigarette lighter socket. That grey hose is where the wires of the 12v socket is concealed for hassle free removal.
This is the RideOn robotouch charger that I had installed on the Rvm mount. Zip tied the wires to my perfection.
The installed 12v socket concealed in plastic hose. I mainly use this for air compressor.
I was not happy with the placement of horn in the stock horn clamp. I felt it might damage the radiator if hit. Also when the handle bar is pushed to the extreme left it slightly touches the horn if mounted there. So mounted it on the other side as the other horn below. So now it's mounted on either side of the lower clamps of the radiator. The problem was running the horn wire to the other side. Had to figure out a DIY due to the danger of hot exhaust nd radiator.
There was this pipe lying around in house unused. (some thing that's a part of toilet flush tank) So I made use of it to conceal wires from the heat of the engine, radiator & exhaust pipe. It sits behind the radiator clamps where the horn are mounted.
Be cautious as the lower radiator clamps are flimsy and I stupidly bent it one side while trying the bend the horn clamp after mounting on it.
Some more pics of the DIY hose
This is the major culprit for the rattling noise under the rear seat while running over pot holes/undulations. So zip tied it and now it's arrested. Still one slight noise is there. Will figure that out soon.
And finally, I found out that the Rvm's are screwed in too much. So twisted few turns and the height has raised up my few mm. Better but still not the best.
Sorry for the long post.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Today i had my first solo highway ride without pillion on my previous rides i had wife as pillion.
My orignal plan was to get up early and ride atleast 100+kms one side but had fever last night so couldn't get up early . But still decided to ride today. Left from home at 12.45pm and hit the gt road.
It was way to windy and with very heavy wind blast. I had to crouch post 80kmph and directional changes were scary due to cross winds . Bike felt uneasy due to high cross wind , would like other owners to clarify this. Top speed i hit is 130kmph fully crouched at 7k rpm ,my personal best on a single cylinder bike. Rode till sonipat and took a u turn on the return leg bike is less affected by cross winds and was able to hit 100 with ease without any crouching. Touched 120kmph few times without any discomfort ,Kept the bike at 5k rpm for most part during the ride.
Return leg is better than forward one.
On my previous rides with wife as pillion i did not feel this unstable behavior due to cross winds , maybe due to more payload. I weigh only 60kg.
Now for those who are feeling lag in throttle response after ecu updated i did not feel any such lag and my bike is very happy accelerating even from 100kmph and while shutting throttle there is no lag and no such engine shutoff feeling at 90kmph. And no bad behavior while downshift as i follow revv matching and suggest every one to follow it to deal with engine braking.
Would like suggestions from others regarding instability at high speed due to heavy cross wind i mean pointers to mangae cross winds.
Overall a very good ride bike is happy doing high speeds without any stress on engine and punch is available all through the rev range.
And to add in advance my jacket and helmet were not lose.

Do a good run in, follow down shift recommendations, change engine oil to mineral 10-40 w and go for a long ride. Keep the revs under 4000 for now. Get the first service done. give it time, don't lose hopes yet.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hey guys, I finally booked a Midnight Blue Dominar on the 3rd from Kalyani Motors, Mekhiri Circle. I had paid the booking amount on the 28th of Feb and after getting the loan sanctioned, gave them the whole amount. I had paid 178069 + 1100 for the RC card. I didnt do much of dealership hopping but got to know from a few of my friends that the price of the bike is approximately the same across different dealers. Also I was told by the dealer that I will be getting the bike by the 6th or the 7th. But surprisingly he also said in the same breath that people who had booked the bikes before the 15th of Feb are still waiting for the bikes! So I was a little confused. But he said he will ready the bike by 7th latest. When asked how is that possible, he said a shipment of bikes would be coming on the 5th. So fingers crossed and lets see if they make good on their promise.
One thing that I want to know is that he said I could choose my bike, but from what I came across this thread is that the chassis number is allotted to a booking id and it takes approximately a month for the bikes to be dispatched from the factory. So, apart from the thread starter, did anyone else get the bike early without having to wait?
And Also i know its too late to ask this but did any of you guys negotiate the price of the bike before buying? Only asking since couple of my friends asked me why i did not negotiate?
Will keep you posted as and when the bike comes..Last edited by Vivek Sreekumar; 03-05-2017, 11:35 PM.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
I chose my bike from Popular Bajaj and that was my condition before I book. May be in the initial batch they did not allow people to chose and people were getting SMS from Bajaj also on the allotment of bike. Not anymore.Originally posted by Vivek Sreekumar View Post

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Great to hear your inputs after the ECU update. Yes, cross winds do affect bikes. There have been experiences where I was literally thrown off or pushed into opposite lane by a sudden gust of "devil wind" or for a lack of better word they say, is so intense it just slows your bike's pace. Mind you I weight a hefty more and coupled with my bike's wet weight upwards of 180 KGS with luggage, the wind was so significant that no amount of rev had any effect on the bike. I've faced both crosswinds and headwind, headwinds are the slowing your motorcycle type, the cross wind are outright arrogant, just slams you out of nowhere.Originally posted by Ijs View PostToday i had my first solo..... not feel any such lag and my bike is very happy accelerating even from 100kmph and while shutting throttle there is no lag and no such engine shutoff feeling at 90kmph. This is even more amplified when you are in a cross wind area and a truck or bus passes you fast enough, it just creates ruckus. Couple of instances I've had the heart in mouth moments like both vortex from passing trucks/buses or huge mediums, and cross wind at the same time.
Negotiation is a part of our bloodline. We negotiate from education to wedding. Well, that aside, I'd suggest you to make an offer from your side as you're paying full cash, and usually they'll always resist to any cash discounts, but if you pester them enough, they'd come down by a few hundred to thousand bucks, but not much. But, we Indians have a feel we'd reached the Mars and back, even if we can make someone reduce 500 bucks. Feels great though.Originally posted by Vivek Sreekumar View PostHey guys,

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

B7ACKTHORN nice to hear your thoughts on cross winds and yes you are right it is worst when passing a truck. And all these things made me doubt the claims of people who says that they ride their bikes at 150kmph+ speeds. Actually this is my first bike which i am riding 100+ on regular bassis, as on my bullets i kept it at 70kmph and on the avenger 85kmph.
Also i would like to suggest ecu reset for guys facing lag in throttle response post ecu update. I suggested it to someone and he has done that yesterday so today he would be telling me about the result so i would explain the process of resetting the ecu if any positive results are there.

Vivek Sreekumar brother i booked mine on 29 dec2016 and got it delivered in the first lot on jan13 2017 and i get to pick from four bikes that were available in same colour here in delhi , where as i was supposed to get it around jan end or feb 1st week. I also paid full in cash through IMPS 168250 without helmet including zero dep insurance and save around 250 as some last minute increase in govt fee but didn't pay it as my dealer said leave it sir u already made the payment.
