Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
At what kms did you change to 300v. How much was 7100 run? I felt 7100 little better than the stock when I did at 7900kms, not a vast difference but can feel the temperature going down but results after almost 100-200kms. I've been told 300v is thin,
The SC did not leave any clutch play. It was hard to pull causing delay in shifts. With just a minor party adjustment, the clutch pulls easier and switching gears quickly now.Originally posted by xearoum View PostI suggest you adjust your lever tilt. I have long hands and the clutch pull was hard initially. With correct clutch play and slightly lowered down lever, my hand feel more at ease. It's more natural and easy to operate. Also, the adjustable levers are universal fitment across the range. So any of those should work for you.
As far as I know The 300v is for track use. Don't use it for normal riding unless you change gears closer to the extrrme ends of the Rev band. It needs certain amount of heat to work properly.Originally posted by superfarer View PostAt what kms did you change to 300v. How much was 7100 run?
Heat destroys all things including all synthetic oils. Also the viscosity range i. e how thin it will run cold or hot, is listed on the box. That being said, i have heard similar comments, many of which included the price factor. I have read comments when riders said that they user cheaper semi synthetic so they could dump the oil after track day. Some said this grade is for race day only.Originally posted by deepDmnr View Post

Correct me if I'm wrong.
What i can say is that nothing i do on Pune roads will degrade 300v to the point that it will start hurting. Also i intend to do oil change after. 4000 kms.
My experience is that Dominar ran noticeably smoother on Motul 7100. That might not apply to everyone. Now, it's dying the same, running smooth on 300v. I can tell from how it sounds right after cold start. It quickly settles into a rhythm. The great shifts are better, feels better. I will keep for next 4000 kms before deciding to switch back or not.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hey Everyone,
Got my ECU updated on Wednesday at Bagga Link, Delhi..Though they were initially reluctant to do it as my actual dealer & service center is Fairdeal Bajaj.. Didn't get it at Fairdeal as the Dominar svc engineer was on leave & I was too desperate to get rid of the throttle lag & stutter..
Anyways, post the update, initially the bike stalled about 8-10 times..Got me almost hit in the middle of the road too (Thankfully the car guy was alert & braked behind me on time)..but after about 20-25 kms more & couple of days of rest, it's all good..
Went for a spin around town yesterday & I've been smiling ear to ear since then..Now this is the bike that I signed up for..Post the update, it's literally become a "Torque-do"..Revving up to 6k freely in every gear, it's just zooming past whenever & wherever I want..unlike what people may think, the FE hasn't taken much of a hit either..was getting 28-29 earlier, now it's 27-28 (all city riding)..but really, did you buy this machine to worry about the FE? Or did you buy it for the fun it brings to the mundane daily riding? At least I bought it for the fun 😎
Yes, Deep. They seem to be missing this part religiously.Originally posted by superfarer View PostAt what kms did you change to 300v. How much was 7100 run? I had to fix it almost everytime I gave my bike to fix something.
Now that we are through the pain areas, I'd like to know another aspect from you.. or from other fellow dominar owners.
I have mentioned this issue to them a few times but they have not been able to figure this out. I am not even sure if it is really an issue because I have not noticed it with other rides.
Say you are going at a cruising speed with constant to no throttle input.
e.g. the clutch is fully released in first gear and the bike it hovering at 10-11 KMPH(no throttle input).
At this point, clutch makes a wired noise. like it is slipping but ever so slightly. its the rubbing sound which goes away when you start accelerating. eventually when you attain the desired speed and not accelerating, this noise comes back. Is this a slipper clutch characteristics?

In my case it so happened that the svc (Arun Bajaj, Nagpur) guys don't even know about the ECU. When I take regarding the ECU at the time of servicing they were blank and kept looking at each other's face. Later also when I called them over phone they kept transferring it from phone to phone then they put it on mute and after a while hu going up. They don't even know what an ECU is. My bike fortunately sidebar stall or lag but I definitely feel the engine can be smoother ...
Do you think another dealer can help me out and if so will it void the warranty?
Also is there any Dominar owner from Nagpur here? I need help guys..

Our key is of the same size as that of the tool the service center uses for adjustments. For smooth gear shifting do this adjustment after every 700-800 kms

Sorry to hear about the dreadful condition of Bajaj Service Centers in Nagpur. If I were you, I would probably not rush for this upgrade. They obviously have no clue about it and your bike will become their test mule. Let them fiddle around and check again in a few weeks.

No it doesn't go past 9k for me. Makes out at 9k blinking. 8.5k the Ed light glows. Can some one please post a short clip with the Rev limiter @9.5k so that i can take it as a proof to the svc.?Originally posted by Ijs View PostYes do check the revv limiter and update us as here we checked on 3 bikes all have this 500rpm increase.
And yes u can fit adjustable levers explore ur local market , seen pics of kawasaki levers in our whatsapp group today, didn't remember his xbhp id but i think it is rubber stamp champ. U can try adjusting the lever play take ur bikes key's thickness to measure the play.Ride Safe!

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
deepDmnr - is that really from Motul website?
So Motul recommends 8000 kms for the 7100. Still some clowns will say "ooh, but will the oil last that long?"
Heck, even the mods here don't trust synthetic oil for more than 3.5-4k kms. I've gotten conflicting information from the seniors here, and nobody has any concrete data on how long any oil lasts!

Heheh, there are lab tests on YouTube that you can watch which demonstrate that looks of dark colored synthetic oil can be deceiving. If seems that the chemical mixture that we call synth oil does not loose lubricating power for quite a while. I am a guy who prefers to err on the side of caution and follow 4000 / 5000 kms change for the first year.Originally posted by leech View PostdeepDmnr - is that really from Motul website?

Dominar run great when hot i. e after 20 min of riding. The gear shifting, acceleration all seem better. When I see the 10+ year old Honda splendors still in action, i wonder if all this matters as much. i like my bike and just treating it real nice for the first year.
