Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
I expected this and was planning to replace @ 5000 kms anyways. Also good to know that Motul can be used officially now. Good to know, thanksOriginally posted by vengalabdj View PostThe new manual for the dominar says a oil change interval of 5000kms and not 10000kms.. Also, the recommended oil isn't just bajaj oil anymore.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
So in 5000, we need to change oil or at 10000??
Any body did 500+ on a single day?
I am planning to do ~800 (Trivandrum to Bangalore).
Its 2000+ on odo.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Just a thought: can we switch the stock D400 ECU with the one from KTM Duke 390? Anyone who knows the pins for both the bikes and their ECUs?
Maybe it solves the useless rpm raising issue when the bike is moving with clutch depressed! And maybe improve fueling!- Royal Enfield Classic 500 - 17 June 2015 - 14 March 2016
- Hero Honda Karizma ZMR - 31 Jan 2011 - 17 June 2015
- Bajaj Pulsar 200 - 3 May 2007 - 2010 some time
- Bajaj Pulsar 180 - 14 Oct 2002 - 3 May 2007

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
You cannot. ECU of KTM is advanced one than D400. KTM has more sensors and the mapping is different. You cannot simply switch ECU from different bikes.Originally posted by numanr View PostJust a thought: can we switch the stock D400 ECU with the one from KTM Duke 390? But is it possible to remap the ECU and fiddle with the curves?Originally posted by benz View PostYou cannot. ECU of KTM is advanced one than D400. KTM has more sensors and the mapping is different. You cannot simply switch ECU from different bikes.

You need to know the sensor data and calculations and engine dynamics and what not. It's not as easy as it looks. You need software to do the mapping and also interface with the system. Also, you need a platform to run the bike in test mode and do the changes.Originally posted by Chetak.Jr View PostBut is it possible to remap the ECU and fiddle with the curves?
There are few brands that makes ECU modifications with their device attached with stock ECU. (PowerTronics, racedynamics) There is one available is for KTM. I have asked them about D400 and they said they need a bike to do the testing.
Maybe down the lane you may get one for D400.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Yeah. I too have contacted them and they said 3-4hp power gains would be there and that they needed time to test it out. It will be expensive though.Originally posted by benz View PostYou need to know the sensor data and calculations and engine dynamics and what not. It's not as easy as it looks. Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Just for 4hp gain do you want to void the warranty? With gain in power there will be a drop in mileage. I don't see a need of performance ECU for this bike. You are not going to race on tracks. Stick to the stock ECU. There maybe updates coming based on customer feedback.Originally posted by vengalabdj View PostYeah. Yes, that started this whole Dominar ECU debate. A couple customers asked Kiirus for ECU remaps for their bike.Originally posted by Chetak.Jr View PostBut is it possible to remap the ECU and fiddle with the curves?
Kiirus stripped a Dominar to check for the ECU and they claim they found no ECU, just a carburettor controlled by a CDI unit. So Kiirus said they can't help with aftermarket ECU fitting or ECU remaps.
I don't know either Bajaj marketing or Kiirus, so take these claims at your own risk.

There is a ECU for sure. You must have seen my video. Tell that guy to pull out Battery compartment and there you can see ECU.Originally posted by leech View PostYes, that started this whole Dominar ECU debate. A couple customers asked Kiirus for ECU remaps for their bike. .

What did they strip in D400 and still couldn't find ECU? Strange
I wonder what update can he do without even identifying the ECU. It's very easy to locate any ECU. Just follow the wiring and a bunch of wires will go to a single device.
In KTM, the ECU is under the tank cover.

Buddy can you strip the bike further and thoroughly check if there is a carb unit nearby? If there is no carb, i will personally mail Bajaj the false claims by Kiirus.Originally posted by benz View PostThere is a ECU for sure. You must have seen my video. How did they find a carburetor? They must have been high when they did that.Originally posted by leech View PostYes, that started this whole Dominar ECU debate. A couple customers asked Kiirus for ECU remaps for their bike.

Maybe they opened other bike after getting high and saw a carburetor.Originally posted by vengalabdj View PostHow did they find a carburetor? They must have been high when they did that.
Do they really have D400 or they are doing time pass? That guy never came back after seeing my ECU video.
