          Hi all,
          Just my two cents.
Please don't get confused between CDI and ECU. CDI is purely for ignition. An ECU bike can come with CDI unit also.
High voltage is needed for spark plug. CDI system is used for generating this high voltage. The next thing is ignition timing which clearly gives signals to the CDI unit. In old bikes , there is something called pulse coil ( ex: CBZ Xtreme Ist gen ) which gives a pulse to the CDI unit which in turn causes sparking.
In newer bikes , digital systems are used ( ex: microprocessor ) to generate the pulse to the CDI unit. So these bikes doesn't have the pulse coil.
This can be called as Digital CDI units and many of these comes with different maps mostly preflashed from factory. You can also buy aftermarket CDI units.

The newer system for ignition which replaces CDI is called TCI ignition.Fuel injected bikes will have the ECU so as to mix the air & fuel in correct ratio.
Mostly fuel injected bikes comes with TCI ignition.

So a carbureted bike can come with a CDI or TCI unit. Also a fuel injected bike can also come with CDI or TCI unit.

The type of ignition used in a bike - CDI or TCI purely depends on manufacturer as both has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Easy to identify - CDI bikes can be started with a dead battery while TCI can't.

          Thanks

Has anybody tried installing the adjustable levers from the 2017 RC390/Duke 390? Is it a direct fit?

To install them on Dominar 400. I was asking whether the adjustable levers can be bought from KTM and used in Dominar. Is it a direct fit?

                  Hi Bro,
Which lever ? I am bit confused and asking to clarify if I may need one.
                  Thanks.

Clutch and front brake lever. The ones on the handlebar. Left side is clutch lever and right side is front brake lever. In 2017 KTMs they are adjustable. Meaning the reach position wrt handlebar can be changed.

I would like to share a little bit of my knowledge here...

A CDI is Capacitor Discharge Ignition while a TCI is Transistor controlled Ignition(IDI)...In general terms they both perform the same function of the firing pulse in the Primary of Ignition Coil..

In CDI there are AC CDI type and DC CDI types. AC CDI gets AC voltage from Stator while DC CDI needs battery or generator power for CDI voltage.

Older 2 stroke bikes and HH Splendor are some of the example for AC CDI, while HH Karizma, CBZ, Ninja ,CBR250R are some of the examples for DC CDI.

The RTR is a classic example for TCI Inductive Discharge Ignition.

A CDI spark is of shorter duration ,while the TCI is mostly of longer duration and helps in better combustion of AFR charge. This is so due to the fact the TCI is , unless specified otherwise, Inductive Discharge Ignition..

The pulse coil exists in one form or other..In CDI there is a dedicated pulse coil to pickup the position of crank and hence the piston relative position during a compression stroke to time the Ignition Pulse...In MPFi ECU controlled ignition there is a Crank angle sensor which does the same job...

                        Hope this helps.

Seen dark marronish levers on one domi here in delhi the guy got it from Karol bagh.

And to all who are confused with Dominar's ecu.
Yes it has a bosh ecu setup i had a chit chat with the engineer while getting my ecu updated as there was some code issue cropping up when the servicr guy is doing my ecu. They had used a bosh obd device to update the map and while the update was going on the screen of the device showing AAP 2 loading please wait.
And as per the engineer we might get another update later on to remove the limiter.

got my devil on 21st .. rided 50+ km until now

                              cons :-
                              mirror not satisfactory
got rear wheel lock on high speed (scared the shit outta me)
                              tank vibrates
engine gets hot bit fast while moving in city traffic ..may be coz of breakin period and mineral oil
seems to be a problem with ECU, upper light was not turned onn and symbol blinked.
if bike shuts down while moving in traffic, doesn't start's immediately (may be coz of FI)
                              cant do a triplee (obviously)

                              pros:-

Get it checked. These issues are not common except for vibration.

The bike should start at first crank irrespective of the weather condition. FI bikes starts at first press of the button. First of all it should not switch off. You may feel little more hot engine as it's summer. Check if fan is working.

You can either use a Mirror extender or try from other bike mirror.

Video of OBD and Torque connected and all the readings shown on a tab. You can also see the list of sensors shown.

I created this video with the YouTube Video Editor (http://www.youtube.com/editor)

Hope this clears your doubt that there isn't any ECU in Dominar.
