She had clocked 2200kms now and the rpm limit is still 8500. Heard that it resets to 9500 after 2000kms. Isn't it?

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hi Buddy,Originally posted by ramdante View PostOwners moving from 200NS to the Dominar.. Need a few things clarified.. How different/better is Dominar when compared to 200NS, in terms of riding style, suspension, pillion comfort, acceleration, refinement, engine sound and overall feel??
I just sold my NS and was thinking of getting a 250cc or higher (sub 2L) non Bajaj bike. But the Dominar seems super VFM and pretty much has no competition from any other competitors within that price bracket.. So, my worry is that, I don't want to get a bike which is too similar to NS, as it is, the looks are more of a beefier NS, which I can live with. But expecting the rest of the things to feel new, hence my query..
I too had an NS for quite a while and recently purchased the Dominar. Please find below my thoughts on the parameters you have mentioned:
- Riding style - as compared to the NS, its a bit more bent forward for the rider. Definitely will be a change. Also for me the bike seems lower than the NS. The handlebar is wide and straight and enhances the big bike feel of the bike. The tank from the outside also looks wider and you will definitely see lots of similarity between the 2 bikes in terms of some of the lines and creases.
- Suspension - The stock suspension setting for me is quite hard. Will get it softened in the first service.
- Pillion comfort - much more than the NS. My wife testifies to it. However, the seat is very flat and not angled like the NS which results in the pillion rider slipping backwards under hard acceleration.
- Acceleration - very good. Not orgasmic! If you compare to a Pulsar then excellent. It hides the humongous weight well under acceleration.
- Refinement - beautifully refined through out the rev range except for the 4500 to 5500 bracket where loads of vibes can be felt from the tank and handlebars.
- Engine Sound - a bassy Pulsar finally. Though the NS and RS were good, Dominar takes the exhaust sound to a much better level. It sounds powerful even at idle. It also tends to blip itself slightly when you start up the bike and settles down. Sounds great on the move too.
- Overall feel - the points above covered it

If you want something racy, you have the KTM Duke 250, which is a whole new bike and falls nicely in your price bracket too. So does the FZ25. Do try to prioritise the feel you get from these after test rides. I have had the Dominar for a month now and coming from the NS, it feels heavy even on the move sometimes. In terms of confidence, I feel more confident on it due to the ABS and also somehow the lower seating gives me a better feel of whats happening in the bike.Blood, Sweat and Gears - Enough Said.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Use Ulysse Speedometer app. The best in business. I tired a few others. With this I had the best experience.Originally posted by sman999 View PostAt first Benelli had 2 variants one with MRF's and other with Pirelli's. Since 90% opted for the later they stopped offering the first variant which was 10k cheaper, at least thats what they said. IMO Revz are VFM product, they offer phenomenal grip for that price and for our roads those are enough. Only for track riding you need better tyres like metzeler, pirelli, Michelin(high end).
So lets say 2-3% tyre error due to circumference change and 5% speedo error, so in total 8% error. With 8% error, Speedo should read 100kmph @92kmph as per GPS. But 15% error is where the doubt arrives. Either Benelli's speedo error is high or the app i used is manipulating wrongly. I used an app called GPS speedometer and trip meter developed by some California team in Android."Verso l'infinito e oltre"

That is too much load. Im sure it ll kill the battery twice as fast. Why the HID? how many watts is that? Why not an LED for that too?Originally posted by drvmtm View Post

Also regarding your previous post thanks for the wattage picture. I remember reading in the manual as 20w for headlamp.
This is how Fernanda looks.
12wx2 spot lamps. It did cost 1250 with a switch. Total DIY cost was around 1400 including Fuse, wires, battery clamps.

You will be amazed to know it how much it can pull. Hid is for long range. Led for near vision.sigpic

Battery will only die if you drain it fast. Other factors include charging rates to the battery. So killing the battery is only when the draw of power is more than the charging unit.Originally posted by sman999 View PostThat is too much load. Im sure it ll kill the battery twice as fast. Leds are real good but the optics needed for long range throw is too costly.
Hid s are still cheap in respect to long range pencil throw than Leds at present in India( for off road use).sigpic

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
I think I am facing some issues with the bike. I cannot seem to go past 5k RPM at any gear. I tried accelerating and at every gear change it just sticks below 5k. The acceleration and the speed feels right though but I am not sure if it is since this is the first time i am riding something this powerful. I tried accelerating on a stretch and all the while it just climbs slowly to 5K. I change gears at 3-4K RPM. And the first service still has not been done. Also of late the power delivery feels a bit rough, (if thats the right term to use), and a lot of vibrations have crept in. Also interesting to note is that the showroom rep told us to keep it below 5K for the first 1000kms and thereafter 7.5K until 2000kms. So would it be that the service guys have throttled it via ECU or something? Only asking since some of you seem to have taken it beyond that during the running in period itself..

This sounds strange, I am sure as you would have guessed, its not supposed to happen and I would recommend going to the service centre at the earliest and getting it resolved. My Dominar has no such restrictions.
Also, Could it be that the display is perhaps faulty and that though your bike is going beyond 5000 revs its not showing on the console? Just a thought.Blood, Sweat and Gears - Enough Said.

I also thought it might be a faulty instrument console but when I rev it in neutral it goes beyond 5K albeit not easily. Is it possible to avail the 1st free service before the requisite distance/days?

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Totally bad experience with my dominar. Its second day and my bike is still at service center. They don’t have any clue for way that vibration is coming, they did not manage bike fuel tank or front panel to fixsome sound. Bad bad bad.Originally posted by Khushal Mistry View PostFingers crossed for service of my bike. Going tomorrow for service, hope my all problems solve. Now bike at 570km
