Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Owners moving from 200NS to the Dominar.. Need a few things clarified.. How different/better is Dominar when compared to 200NS, in terms of riding style, suspension, pillion comfort, acceleration, refinement, engine sound and overall feel??
I just sold my NS and was thinking of getting a 250cc or higher (sub 2L) non Bajaj bike. But the Dominar seems super VFM and pretty much has no competition from any other competitors within that price bracket.. So, my worry is that, I don't want to get a bike which is too similar to NS, as it is, the looks are more of a beefier NS, which I can live with. But expecting the rest of the things to feel new, hence my query..Last edited by ramdante; 03-12-2017, 03:12 PM.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
You're probably right..A youtuber also had the same problem.. he too mentioned that in his secondary display padding was missing hence leading to the sound.. I gave a little pressure on the secondary display with my finger and the problem seems to have gone.. I think it would probably reappear.. would have to take my D400 to service centre to have it checked.Originally posted by vengalabdj View PostMost probably, something have gone into the secondary display.

Pillion comfort on dominar is better thn Ns, suspension is stiffer thus better handling, better torque and power output provides more stress free riding for longer rides, breaks are better courtesy ABS, better tyres,Originally posted by ramdante View PostOwners moving from 200NS to the Dominar.. Overall a worthy upgrade.
But only a good test ride would give u a satisfactory answer to how much is better than ns.

Thanks for your opinion.. And yes a long test ride should clear it up, I guess..Originally posted by Ijs View PostPillion comfort on dominar is better thn Ns, suspension is stiffer thus better handling, better torque and power output provides more stress free riding for longer rides, breaks are better courtesy ABS, better tyres,

Regarding the suspension, I read somewhere that it has settings to soften it up, unlike in the NS.. I hope the softest setting, is soft enough for a normal rider..

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Today went for the first official Bajaj dominar ride with bunch of riders. This is the first ever ride officially sponsored by bajaj with free breakfast.
Destination was Chillax N relax the Bikers's den near Revari. Officiating the ride on behalf of Bajaj is Amar srivastava, very nice fellow and experienced rider.
He was the marshall for the group. Total number of bikes was 13, less than expected due to bad morning weather and Holi.
We started from Savdeshi bajaj Rajaj Graden delhi. Toatl distance covered is 172kms. It is my first group ride ever and i palyed the tail of the pack. Overall a very good ride with a very informative group discussion. Amar provided positive feedback to question and also offered assistance to guys facing issues and he also noted down all the suggestions and complaints.
This is a very good initiative from Bajaj and also very good marketing strategy.
The bike behaved well throughout the ride just cross wind is still bothering me sometimes the rear wheel felt fishtailing due to heavy wind balst and 85 to 90kmph post that is is stable. Others also feels this behavior from the rear end, i would be getting the rear wheel alignment and hub checked soon to amke sure everything is fine(visibly all is good). Max speed on the ride was 110kmph.
This is the first of many more smaller and bigger Official Bajaj Dominar ride.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Guys, does checking with a GPS speedometer actually help us find the speedo error in our vehicles?
I checked it with Fernanda. The GPS shows 95kmph when the speedo reads 100kmph. So there is a 5% error. Can this be accurate?Ride Safe!
Cheers,

Havent noticed this as i have only done 450kms after service. But do check it with your SA and fellow owners as what i heard during service is that we need topup at 5000km. But bike drinking oil at this rate is bit odd.Originally posted by deepDmnr View Post150 ml top off required for 1500 kms. Anyone notice this too? At this rate , i will go thru a quart before second service
Yes it does happens and almost very bike would show speedo error when you check it with gps. Mostly the error comes at higher triple digit speeds.Originally posted by sman999 View PostGuys, does checking with a GPS speedometer actually help us find the speedo error in our vehicles?

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
I checked again almost 200 ml. Did not get the low oil light but oil level was touching bottom of the glass window when held upright. i am using Motul 7100, don't think that is a factor. Not revving that hard either. Will check with SC.Originally posted by Ijs View PostHavent noticed this as i have only done 450kms after service. Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Please be cautious. This is not normal. Since no smoke is seen from exhaust, it is possible that oil is escaping the oil path without entering the ignition chamber.Originally posted by deepDmnr View Post150 ml top off required for 1500 kms. This sometimes happens when engine oil & engine coolant mix together, if there is a breach of seal around the water pump area, or wherever there is a seal separating oil & coolant. Also, if there is any fault in breather assembly (like pipe cuts or vacuum leaks), the engine oil sometimes get accumulated in the air filter box.
Another thing to consider would be, since the engine oil is fully synthetic, sometimes under heavy stress, the oil vaporizes itself more than normal and reduces the quantity of oil in the sump noticeably.
What I suggest you is, you please try switching to different brand of oil & see if the same problem persists & then proceed to deeper inspections.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
So my Dominar literally saved my ass today. Had it been my Thunderbird I would have been in the Hospital. Going to work, noticed the Rajiv Gandhi Salai (NH) wet since they water the plants. I was riding at around 55kmph since my bike has not done first service. There was this BC City Bus driving. He suddenly swerved right without reducing speed. I had to hit both my breaks so hard and could actually feel the ABS functioning as my wheels started jerking without locking up
Had it been my TB I would just skidded and hit the road
I just cursed the Bus Driver and left feeling some what relieved.
