Sry, I did not start the ecu update rumor. I am just reporting : ecu update or NOT, bike is behaving differently. Engine breaking is lesser from gear 3 up. I can ride at lower speed on gear 3 and 4 without knocking. This will surely help the fuel economy. Before service i got 30 kms per litre.

Anyone who got manual can please check this sign next to odo and let me know what exactly it is trying to indicate

I'm thinking this sign is indicating the Need for service !

Please update as soon as possible.

Take the bike for service, it's a service reminder indicator

Then my guess is correct , bike is approaching 500km mark, this is started flashing around 450kms.

The same has been explained by Bullet Baba on Dominar 400 group on facebook & later on Thrustzone.

                I quote:

Dear comrades, today I am writing my observations about longterm servicing matter.
Oil Change: As we all know, the D400 is based on KTM 390 engine. This engine has a secondary mesh filter present on the bottom of the crankcase(apart from the primary mesh filter which is inside the drain bolt) present onthe crankcase. ( Not present in KTM/NS 200 engine) During oil change, thisfilter needs to be removed & cleaned.
Dominar has a different exhaust system than the Duke 390. It'sexhaust bend pipe runs downwards. But In Duke 390, the exhaust bend pipe runssideways, away from bottom area. Hence there is no need to remove the silencerin Duke 390. But in D400, the bend pipe obstructs the removal of this filter .So the fiber underbelly & exhaust bend pipe must be removed for a properprocedure of oil change.
Spark Plugs: Dominar has 3 spark plugs, of which cleaning thecenter plug will be difficult, because the tank must be removed to access it.Fuel Tank is an inner metal tank, covered by fiber panels on the outside.
One of the major area where D400 & Duke 390 differ is theengine head. Dominar head uses Single camshaft. Due to this, Dominar has to userocker arms to drive the valves, and the valve clearance are to be manuallyadjusted using feeler gauges.
Dominar uses 3 spark plugs to be more fuel efficient, for 3spark plugs to work, 3 ignition coils are present in the motorcycle, for whomto work in return, higher wattage alternator & stronger magnet are used inthe engine.
Duke uses Dual camshafts, single spark plug. Another importantdifference is that, the Duke uses SHIMS to maintain valve clearance. Thus thecamshafts directly drive the valves via SHIMS. Rocker arms are not present dueto this.
Air Filter: is located below the petrol tank. to access it,literally half of the bike must be stripped. Including side panels, both seats, tank panels, side shrouds, & then the tank shell itself.
Valve Clearance: The D400 has 4 valves, & the engine headaccess is located below the air filter box. To set the valve clearance, airfilter must be removed, along with rest of the parts mentioned above.
I feel Bajaj engineers could have done a better job duringR&D. Perhaps they never thought of "How to service thismotorcycle"
I am also afraid that majority of Bajaj mechanics would skipservicing few areas because they are difficult to operate or they might damagefew parts in the procedure. Home-servicing too is difficult, taking up lot oftime, patience & effort.

                Thanks,
                -
                Bullet Baba
Thanks sir , great information shared.

I booked the motorcycle on the 10th of January and selected Sai Service Andheri, Mumbai as my dealership. However on calling Sai Service Andheri I was informed that any bookings for south mumbai are being transferred to Sai Service Lower Parel.

I visited this branch of Sai Service and they assured me of delivery within 5 days of me receiving the dispatch sms. They also gave me an exchange offer for my 200 ns, where in I was supposed to drop the 200ns on the day of me taking dominar delivery and they would hand me cash of Rs 42000 on the spot.

I received the dispatch sms on the 27th of January (Friday), since I live close to Lower Parel I visited the branch to discuss the details. I was assured that I will get delivery within the next week and was asked to get the payment done as soon as possible. I remitted the payment on the next working day i.e Monday 30th January. On remitting the payment I visited the branch again, there was a very noticeable difference in the attitude of the employees at that point, almost like 'now he doesn't have a choice but to deal with us no matter what we do'.

From the date of the payment it will take you 15 days to receive the bike. I had made my payments on 21st Jan and got the delivery last friday. The RTO process also takes time as there are system upgrades being carried out. In my case as well after receiving the payment their attitude had changed drastically but they happened to mess with the wrong guy. I used my influence and got the bike from these guys a little earlier. For inspection you can request them to allow you to check the bike at their Kandivali warehouse as I got the opportunity to go and select my bike. While taking the delivery my ODO had 20km on it. All the bikes had 8-10km on ODO at their warehouse. They rode the bike from Kandivali to their showroom at Andheri, though I stay in town but I took delivery from Andheri showroom itself.

Yes, they did. I was given 3 choices. And no choking whatsoever!

Yes this would first flash at 450kms and you have to get first service at 500 to 750kms or one 45 days. At time of service they would reset it and it would flash again at time of 2nd service like 4500kms.

                          Finally!
I have got my Dominar today. Not registered yet though!
I must say, bike feels HEAVY. Its not as flickable as the other bikes.
I can confirm the buzz at 3.5-4 k rpm. Its nothing major, it just reminds you that you are actually riding a bigger engine [emoji12]
Also, I felt the rear breaks to be very good. I'm coming from an RTR180 and I've also been riding P220 since a couple of days.

Based out of Mumbai, took it from Sai Service, Andheri, Mumbai. Had 21km on the odo, which was attributed to the distance from Kandivali...

Look forward to a trouble free and enjoyable ownership experience...
