Today went to workshop. Gear shifts are better now. Other problem that rear tire skids when trying to accelerate excessively from zero remains. Manager said that it is expected behaviour. I am not sure though.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
That's pretty common though, when you apply full throttle in the 1st gear, if there is not enough traction on the rear wheel, it skids. Depends on tyre as well. Michelin pilot street radials are better and does not skid a lot, specially on D390.Originally posted by old_novice View PostToday went to workshop. Gear shifts are better now. Thanks!Originally posted by Ijs View PostCongrats on the bike.
And someone in this very thread has faced similar issue like yours if u go a few pages back , his ride was also just off the showroom floor. And all of us told our point.
But the real issue was loose battery terminals they wires were lose and thus the starting issue . Open the rider seat with a size 8 spanner and check, could also be a discharged battery.
God speed.

One more thing , did they updated your bikes ecu with remapped settings. If not do ask for the same . This update is done for vibes and knocking etc , i dont know the full details . I would get mine updated at first service.
I did ask the service manager and he said it will be done on the 1st service.
Turns out it was a battery defect, wasn't getting charged properly.
For now they set me up with a different battery and will replace the faulty one under warranty and then swap it again.
Beast is roaring again

Btw, where are you from and which dealer are you taking the bike from in Chennai.?

Bhai, just FYI, the bike will not start if the vehicle's side stand is down. Though the bike will start in neutral, when you shift it to the first gear, ignitiong cuts-off. Do check that. Because, every instance that you've stated, there's a possibility that it could be this. If not, it could be loose connections at the battery terminals. Hope your problem gets rectified
Cheers.
Thanks!
I tried cranking it w/o the side stand most of the times.
We got the issue, it was the faulty battery, they have given a different battery for now, will get mine repaired/replaced and then swap it again.

Thanks!Originally posted by vikvis14 View PostCheck the battery terminals for loose connections.
Note: it's just a suggestion from my side and not the solution
Looks like the fault was with the battery itself.
They have given a different batt for now and will replace the faulty one under warranty and then swap it.

I am surprised to hear this. Never had this problem in m P220. This kills my confidence while riding. Not only from standstill, it skids also when you try to zoom past from low speeds. If it is totally due to tyre, I might get a new one.Originally posted by Skanda View PostThat's pretty common though, when you apply full throttle in the 1st gear, if there is not enough traction on the rear wheel, it skids. Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
P220 would not have this problem as this happens due to the sudden acceleration that the bike can produce and how good the tyre is. Dominor has good and D390 has the best acceleration and if the road has bit of sand or dust, the tyre would lose traction and skids during hard acceleration. This doesn't happen on good tarmac though. I have faced the rear tyre sliding during hard acceleration from slow speeds when the road is wet and during hard acceleration from stand still when the road is sandy or has some gravel. Metz slides more than Michelin. Never ridden the one with MRF, so can't comment on how this tyre behaves.Originally posted by old_novice View PostCongratulations.

In dealership they suggested to use speed grade, but if you use shell then regular grade is sufficient. Has anyone got the same suggestion from dealership?Originally posted by n1tesh View PostHey guys, Do we have to use High Octane Petrol on Dominar?
What petrol type you are using ?

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Would like to add up and enlighten everyone upon breaking period of dominar 400 through my ownership review. I got delivery of my Dominar on 15th Jan 2017 from Bagga Link Bajaj Karol bagh. Mine is Midnight Blue
which is brutally good. So its been 20 days now that im riding it.
My Strong Opinion- Till now i've done 600 kms and first service is yet to be done and i have clocked bike at speeds of over 110 kmph without hesitating and no signs of unusual refinement degradation or unusual noise from the engine. The only thing to be kept in mind is that we don't have to keep the throttle constant at a higher rpm. Even if the rpm is higher just make sure that it is fluctuating rather than stagnant. These are higher capacity machines which are made for certain purpose which in this case is power riding rather cruising at low speed which is 60-70 kmph
. Bike is still butter smooth and no change in whatsoever form was found.
Ill get the service done this week and let you all know what changes ive experienced after the service.
CONS- Fuel economy which im getting now is around 23-25 kmpl which is quite low. Lets see if it increases after the service.
Tank pad edges are coming off so early. I talked to the service center they are ready to fix it though.
