Congrats on the bike! The bike is 400cc one, hence in the city you possibly can't pull it up to the last gear and ride. Regarding the knocking at lower rpm's, I faced the same in my bike (I don't have a D400). I generally tend to shift to higher gear early (for example - I shift at 45kmph which is the the lowest speed without knocking for my 5th) but then the moment I don't accelerate and let the needle fall a bit down. I hear knocking and have to shift down. And I hate shifting gears, often. So instead of 45, now I push it till 50-55 (my 4th gear can tolerate it easily) and change to 5th in order to avoid knocking.

The front of the bike looks brilliant, super attractive. But I wasn't satisfied with the back part. When I saw it in real (someone else was riding it with a small laptop back, probably going back home from office), there was hardly any room for pillion. For some reason, I feel the pillion seat/back part has been abruptly made short. (Totally personal view). I am sure riding it is an awesome feeling.

Take it out for a spin, I am sure you will like it. Safe riding!

To other owners of this beautiful machine, Do you guys experience backfiring or completely nothing at all?
    Hi hemanz,
I appreciate your time, I was really tired while riding this bike in city traffic for two hours, I found clutch is little hard and I did frequent downshifts. That's fine.
My disappointment is that the bajaj claims that 28nm torque is available at 3k rmp if this is the case they would have made 2nd, 3rd gears little shorter to enable the full use of the torque in the city.

    Plusar 150 can happily pull in 2nd n 3rd.

Though I have no idea on ECU settings, if any software work around is available it will be appreciated.

      Hello,
People at Coimbatore dealership did the temporary registration and sent it via courier to Salem dealer. Salem dealer called me after a week, when their set of bikes (pulsar, discover, etc) went for registration. I went to the RTO. I paid 1500rs. for the registration. The registration was done in short time. I called the dealer today and I was told, I'll be getting my RC in a week.

Bangalore is notorious for its traffic, mate. I try my best to take routes which are empty or deserted even if it means to ride 5kms more (or) I start early-leave early. Else it is a rider/driver's nightmare. The clutch issue should go down after the service.

Bajaj claimed 28NM Torque at 3K rpm? What calculation was applied to get the number of 28NM? Because I read the from the specs that they are trying to achieve a flat torque curve plus it produces 35NM@6500rpm. Also, it is said that the bike has better torque at lower rpms.

Pulsar had a better pull? That's something unbelievable.

Yes bro, you are correct. Only once I took my bike to office(white Field) since it was my last day at office [emoji23],
New office will be next to UB city(close to my home) so I purchased bike to have flexy hours. That was the plan[emoji56].
28nm torque @3k was given by bajaj during media drive I believe and same thing mentioned in power drift. I guess that's true as well since my bike takes less than 3k rmp to touch 50kmph.

For plusar claim, yes plusar has perfect gear ration on each gear that's smooth in traffic. IMOP.

just filled fuel again, pre service it is giving 28kmpl I hope it will be more efficient after service.

            Hi folks,

I see the thread has grown since I last posted and so happy about it.
I got my Midnight Blue Dominar ABS on 20th Jan from Amba Bajaj Bangalore and have been riding happily since.

Dealership guys are/were not very pro-active or helpful. I was just crazy about getting the ride asap and did all the communications from my side.

            About my experience :
Likes: (Although everybody have shared them)
            1. The sheer beauty of the bike.
            2. It fits snugly on my 6'3" frames.
            3. The bassy exhaust.
            4. The mid-range.
            5. Front brakes bite like a crocodile.

            Problems i faced till now:
            1. As some owners wrote, the engine tries to shut off/wheezes when the gear is a bit low for the current RPM, shuts down sometimes.
            2. Some vibes at around 3-4 k RPM.
            3. Loose clutch , lots of play at the lever for a power cruiser. (Maybe tightening the wire will work, i have to take it up with the service guys).
            4. Engaging the first gear from neutral introduces a small jerk which i feel shouldn't be there.

**But the major problems was what I faced today... luckily it happened today as I was planning to go to Avalabetta tomorrow morning.
In the morning, before starting for office I always keep the bike on idling at the first start for a minute or two for oil circulation while i clean the dust off (damn construction going on).
I did that and shut off the engine and came back after two minutes, and cranked the engine, and to my horror, it just cranked a little bit and then just went silent.
I waited for a min after turning the key to off, then turned it on, disengaged the kill switch, and alas, just a click of a relay somewhere but no cranking....
Tried it a couple of times and the same clicking noise upon pressing the start switch.

Gave up and called the service manager and told him, he said he will send a guy in the evening to check on it.
Came back in the evening and thought of cranking it one more time, and voila! it started!! Roaring like a beast..
I thought maybe the battery lost charge so i kept it on idling for 5 mins or so, called the manager to tell the bike had started and not to send the technicians today.
Aaaand then i thought of going for a short ride to see if all is ok, and then i pulled the clutch and engaged the 1st gear, and even before i could disengage the clutch she shut off.

Tried cranking the engine again on neutral, and again thee click sounds came in to spoil the party, just like in the morning.

Called the manager and he had already sent the guys home as it was late evening.
He said he will send the guys tomorrow morning.... So here I am... waiting... gazing helplessly on the beast, no battery probs, no lose connections coz it shut off right after i put the first gear.
Will see in the morning when the technicians come, will tell them the other issues as well, but first I need the beast to prowl the roads again, with me on the saddle.

              Congrats on the bike.
And someone in this very thread has faced similar issue like yours if u go a few pages back , his ride was also just off the showroom floor. And all of us told our point.
But the real issue was loose battery terminals they wires were lose and thus the starting issue . Open the rider seat with a size 8 spanner and check, could also be a discharged battery.
              God speed.

One more thing , did they updated your bikes ecu with remapped settings. If not do ask for the same . This update is done for vibes and knocking etc , i dont know the full details . I would get mine updated at first service.

Is it the same dealer in both coimbatore and Salem? Because in chennai, I am informed that I should take the bike to the RTO on my own and I should register it by myself. No support will be given from my local dealership.

I exactly had the same issue, and in my case it was a loose connection in the neutral terminal of the battery. You'd find battery under rider's seat; check if bolts on the terminals are fastened to the wires ; the wires shouldn't be dangling. Seems the battery will be either installed or charged at the ASS before delivery and they forget to tighten it.

If the bike never starts, it could be a dead battery or blown fuse, but since in your case it starts randomly, you can rule out that.

It's rvms are a major plus point. I could never use them in my 220. No matter how I adjusted they just showed my arms. Here I am getting a view of the traffic behind, just like car. Seats are super comfy and mirrors are useful.

Bhai, just FYI, the bike will not start if the vehicle's side stand is down. Though the bike will start in neutral, when you shift it to the first gear, ignitiong cuts-off. Do check that. Because, every instance that you've stated, there's a possibility that it could be this. If not, it could be loose connections at the battery terminals. Hope your problem gets rectified
                        Cheers.

Ask the manager at Jai Bajaj to talk to the dealer at Trichy. They have to give you a temporary registration certificate. If this isn't made available to you, it will be very difficult for you to do permanent registration at Trichy. In case, this doesnt work out, talk to the dealers at Trichy, and talk to the person who takes the bike to the RTO for registration. Tell him your current situation and ask him to let you know when he takes new bikes to the RTO so that you can tag along. But for all this to happen, you need to have the TCR from the Chennai dealer.
Another problem may raise, that since the bike is unavailable in Trichy yet, the officers at the RTO will ask for 2-3 days time inorder to input the name of the vehicle after further verification from chief TO at Chennai. So, you may have to take your bike twice or thrice to the office. But, if all this is done by the dealer itself, you just have to go the RTO when they call you.

My suggestion would be to ask the Chennai dealer talk to a dealer at Trichy.
