        Very nicely written and every word is true.
        I would like to add that with ABS the breaking distance would increase marginally but the rider has more control over the bike and in result , can steer the bike to avoid a collision or a fall.
        It is a lif saver and 14k is not much when you are spending 1.5lac.
        Best way to break is to practice it even if you are experienced enough. Find and good empty road and practice breaking and see how much distance it needs before halting and how is the bike respond under hard breaking.

          Hello all, Took delivery of my Dominar ABS from Khivraj, Kasturba rd, Bangalore.
          Many here has shared the positives of the bike, and I largely echo the same.
          Specially I'd like to share a weird issue I faced within one day of taking delivery.

          Went to Dealership today to get delivery and got my vehicle. (Response from dealership from the day I booked to day I took delivery, is another experience which I'd save for another post). Went thro PDI, and everything seemed fine.

          1) On my way back home (21 kms distance), at one point when I opened throttle the bike engine went off (I was in the right gear and rpm so it didn't knock ). With many vehicles behind me, I instantly tried to engage clutch and cranked, but no luck. I had to manually drag to the side and get to neutral and crank it again. Bike started. Got home.

          2) Same thing happened in the evening when I took out my wife and kid. This time I was on a slopy road; once the engine went off, the heavy bike started getting pulled backwards. Another embarrassment which I ignored again.

          3) Reached some place late in the evening, spent some time thr and tried starting the bike, and alas it wouldn't start. The instrument cluster lights when I turn on ignition. But when I crank it, all the lights just goes off, and nothing happens. Looks like a short circuit somewhere. Tried in vain for 15 mins before I called showroom; luckily they provided a service person number. Spoke to him; he suspected a blown out fuse. He asked me if I can change myself. I had no choice but to try out; I opened the seat with toolkit, changed the fuse and tried to start, but no luck. The place was dark and my wife/kid standing beside me. Service guy told to leave the bike there; he'd attend next morning, but there can't be a dumber idea to leave such a bike in some place. I was hopelessly standing there for another 1 hour, and gave a final try; this time the bike started.. HUGE RELIEF... Headed home straight away...


          In-spite of asking a million times to do stringent checks on electricals, seems the dealership has overlooked it. My repeated request to choose the vehicle before regn was turned down. (But then, how can I inspect sporadical electrical issues?).
          Greatly miss the kick starter in this bike; Imagine taking it to some remote place; the bike doesn't start and you pull the 182kg bike for a few kms!
          Looks like I need a mechanic pillion to accompany me for the first few days until these issues are sorted out.
          I'm sure this issue may not be with every bike out there, but can't ignore this totally; nothing wrong in being cautious.

          Suggestion to anyone planning on taking this on long tours/road trips. Try using the bike for a first few days in the city (where you can get some help), before you plan for long trips. This helps you understand the character and uncover issues with your bike and fix it. Also carry a lot of spare fuses. There is just one spare, and for some reason if that's blown too, your bike is just a 180kg luggage until you find a spare.

          If someone else is facing the same issue, please share your experiences here as well. Thx.

              PDI by bajaj or by dealer should improvise as its not carburator bike in which a kick or by pushing bike just starts. electricals like battery , fuse , stator coil, and rrunit (rectifier unit) should properly be checked this plays a major role specially in fuel injected bike as fuel pass on and it totally dependent on power from battery and always before going for a very long trip or ride do check this out in service centre.

                Yes.
                Its actually like a norm, that before one goes for a long ride bike must be serviced, no matter who is the maker, and which is the bike.

                And even if we give it for service, other than changing the engine oil if needed, may be water service also, what else will the SVC guys do?
                I don't think, they will check all the stuffs even if me mention them word by word.

                  Congrats on the new bike dear. And dont worry things would be fine , looks like a fuse issue . Also the side stand is connected to the kill switch so do get that mechanism check and please notice all lights when the bike goes off again hope it did not. Do note if the side stand light comes on.
                  And how about the fuse that you replaced was it blown.
                  Also i read somewhere that side stand acts as kill switch with a 2 sec delay.
                  Please note that bike would not start in gear by pressing clutch with side stand down.

                    If it was a blown fuse, why did the bike start again the first time without changing it? If the fuse was the problem, why did the bike take one hour of tries to start even after replacing the fuse?

                    If it was a side stand switch problem, how did the random shutoff happen twice when the owner was riding the bike?

                      Congrats on your new bike. By the indications, this surely looks like a dead battery. I had the same issue with NS once. But luckily, push start works in NS

                      I went to the service center with this query and the service manager told me that you should not fill more than 10 litres of fuel in the tank.
                      In the manual, it says clearly, for calculating economy, you need to fill fuel to the brim of the inner hole. And this is exactly what i did.
                      While delivery, the same Service Manager, pointed out to the mechanism provided, if there is excess fuel, there is a hole where the petrol will seep back in the tank and not overflow.
                      I am confused and concerned now. I have written Bajaj customer care seeking an explanation.

                      Anybody else facing similar issues?

                      PS: This is not true for all owners. This issue is noticed by very few owners. Not sure, if this is a defect in the first batch.

                        Athul bro, I haven't bought the Dominar. Btw, I haven't seen one on the roads, I stay at Nilambur. Is there any offline meet for xbhpians in Perinthalmanna? I want a glimpse of one and hear the exhaust note at idle. [emoji4]

                          Exhaust note is music to the ears, best in the market at that range. Looks are very improved over the rest of the Bajaj offerings. If you can manage with a heavy bike you can undoubtedly buy the Dominar with ABS.
