• Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread

Just completed a 500 km ride from Salem to Pondy and back home.
Will post a detailed tlog in the touring section.
No complaints on the bike. Bike is tailormade for highway cruising.
Although, my pillion had a bad experience due to narrow seat.
I might install aftermarket seats, depending on necessity.
Odo stands at 720 km. Time for first service.
Good day.

I would have given you a fitting reply for RE but then this thread is about Bajaj Dominar. Your reply suggests how much you know about bike.

Rider comfort is good enough. Getting some pain in the tailbone after an 80-90km stretch.
After a 5 min break, everything is fine again.
saran_RS200
For the onward journey I got a mileage of 29.3 kmpl.
For the return journey, I got 31.8 kmpl
Both tested by usual full tank method.
I'll have to service the bike in CBE only, I'll do that on Feb 12th. Will post service details after then.

Unforgiven bro, also let us know how many litres of engine oil the Dominar gulps.
Also, what speeds did you do to get that mileage?

You can give the reply.

I know about bikes.
How much i know?
Ans: more than a RE owner.

Just see the following comments also about what i said about RE.

RE is for?
Old vintage looks and sound!
Nothing else.

Yes, I'll let u know about the engine oil info when I service it.
And, regarding the mileage, I am quite confused. Because, for the onward journey, there was no hurry, and I rode at 70-85kmph, max 90, very rarely and it gave me some 29 kmpl.
Whereas, during the return journey, my pillion had a skype interview at 10.00. And problem came up when scheduled time wasn't maintained for starting the ride. So, I rode at about 80-100kmph, and it gave me close to 32kmpl.
I called the service engineer a few hours back to check and I was told 'the economy zone is in between 70-100 and we'll get the max mileage in this region of speed, provided the roads are good and the speed is maintained.' sounds legit.

30kmpl is good mielage for this category. I hope mielage will open up more after proper run in.

I am also getting slight Back pain when ever I am riding even for 20 kms stretch. Earlier I used to drive a Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 in which I never experienced any kind of pain

Your back will take some time to adjust to different riding position.

I don't think Dominar will give super comfy ride, because the suspensions are quite stiff for better handling and stability.
Cheers.
