I believe for any bike, the highest mileage is attained by the least throttle input in the highest gear. I hope your mileage figures are gonna improve, coz some Duke 390 guys have gotten 35kmpl at that speeds! And the CBR250 gives out 40-43 kmpl at 70-90kmph speeds.

Can anybody who knows internal thingies of the Dominar explain why it's got poor tractability in lower gears, aka the stalling at 25kmph in 3rd gear? If this is common across Dominars, then we have a "powerless cruiser" in our hands when negotiating traffic.

My Dear Friends, I feel i have taken discussion in wrong direction by including RE.

My only concern is that if it use only High Octane petrol (as suggested by manual) which i came to know be fellow friend. Then riding in metros is not at all issue but Is taking on long rides wherein availability of recommend fuel is an issue for bike?

I personally not a big fan of RE and because of all the issues which all of you have mentioned I have not purchased one till date.

Having said that also don't want to go with bike with specific fuel requirements wherein we live in country wherein we have adulterated fuel in remote areas.

          Friends your views please.

My bike did not stall at 25kmph in third gear even with the pillion i tested it deliberately after reading some post about it i took it to 20kmph in 3rd without stalling it it might satll below that speed . Yes engine is like ok at 25kmph but at 20kmph 3rd gear it did shudder. I have done only 190kms on odo an got around 25 kmpl for the first fill all inside delhi's traffic.

But where does it says highoctane in the manual in my d400's manual it says recommend fule garde is RON91 which is the standar fule sold here in delhi. Highoctane is RON93 and Ron96 if i am right . And ron91 u can get any where in the country.

The bike does absolutely fine with normal petrol. Don't get worried about the petrol availability at certain places. Only thing is avoid purchasing loose petrol from villages and all which are generally adulterated

Did a short ride on the 26th of Jan. This was my first highway ride on the D400.
The ride was from Bengaluru to Lepakshi, about 260 kms round trip.

Here are my first highway ride impressions:

The bike is rock solid on highway. No scary instability in crosswinds.
It is smooth to ride at 75 Kmph in sixth gear and the bike can hold the speed all day long.
My bottom was well pampered. No fatigue whatsoever.
The brakes are really good, at least for me coming from an RE, I am happy with them.

I am sticking to the prescribed run in period speeds and the bike is responding well.
Once i entered the city the urge to continue with the highway speeds did not go away easily

                    Fuel Economy (Normal Fuel):
Maintaining highway speeds of 75 Kmph.
                    90% highway riding.
                    Tank full method of calculation.
Filled the tank full before the ride. A trip of 265.8 Kms. Refilled to full with 6.85 ltrs of petrol. That gives an economy of 38.8 km/l.
                    Impressive i would say.

Need to see how the figures will change after running in the engine post 2k Kms.

I own both an RE and a D400. All i have to say is this.
D400 is like a faithful friend who will do whatever you ask of it and is ready to say, Yes master!
An RE is a Shrink (RE owners only understand this). It is a therapist who will tame you down and tell you life is not all fun

Believe me when i switched from my D400 to my RE, i was as sober as an "old" monk!!!

Sorry No Pics!! Did not take out camera this time. Next time for sure!

                      Hello guys and gurus!!
I am a silent reader of this very informative thread.
I will be getting my Dominar on 5th of Feb and booked it here in Nashik at Wasan Bajaj. I have chosen the midnight blue color.
The on road price including every thing along with the free helmet is 173xxx.
Will be soon starting my ownership thread (after getting the bike) and will try to give my best about the bike.

Thanks to all the owners of Dominar that they influenced me to go and buy the Dominar.

                      Thanking you all,
                      Satyajit

Thats Awesome.. If this mileage continues same, it will fav bike for budgeted rider!!! I think mileage is differing from each rider by the way Rider rides the bike. Approx we can consider 35kmpl.
