Aye sir, I do. The Dominar, no doubt beautiful, will not suffice as a replacement for the CBR 250, which isn't out of its 5 yr warranty yet. If I buy a bigger bike it would be just for the joy of owning, pride, and speed. Wouldn't make financial sense to own one, then. Thus, I'll upgrade from 2lakh bikes only to a liter bike or a hypersport. Have my eye on the Busa and the Fireblade.

Many here has shared the positives of the bike, and I largely echo the same.
Specially I'd like to share a weird issue I faced within one day of taking delivery.

Went to Dealership today to get delivery and got my vehicle. (Response from dealership from the day I booked to day I took delivery, is another experience which I'd save for another post). Went thro PDI, and everything seemed fine.

1) On my way back home (21 kms distance), at one point when I opened throttle the bike engine went off (I was in the right gear and rpm so it didn't knock ). With many vehicles behind me, I instantly tried to engage clutch and cranked, but no luck. I had to manually drag to the side and get to neutral and crank it again. Bike started. Got home.

2) Same thing happened in the evening when I took out my wife and kid. This time I was on a slopy road; once the engine went off, the heavy bike started getting pulled backwards. Another embarrassment which I ignored again.

3) Reached some place late in the evening, spent some time thr and tried starting the bike, and alas it wouldn't start. The instrument cluster lights when I turn on ignition. But when I crank it, all the lights just goes off, and nothing happens. Looks like a short circuit somewhere. Tried in vain for 15 mins before I called showroom; luckily they provided a service person number. Spoke to him; he suspected a blown out fuse. He asked me if I can change myself. I had no choice but to try out; I opened the seat with toolkit, changed the fuse and tried to start, but no luck. The place was dark and my wife/kid standing beside me. Service guy told to leave the bike there; he'd attend next morning, but there can't be a dumber idea to leave such a bike in some place. I was hopelessly standing there for another 1 hour, and gave a final try; this time the bike started.. HUGE RELIEF... Headed home straight away...

In-spite of asking a million times to do stringent checks on electricals, seems the dealership has overlooked it. My repeated request to choose the vehicle before regn was turned down. (But then, how can I inspect sporadical electrical issues?).
Greatly miss the kick starter in this bike; Imagine taking it to some remote place; the bike doesn't start and you pull the 182kg bike for a few kms!
Looks like I need a mechanic pillion to accompany me for the first few days until these issues are sorted out.
I'm sure this issue may not be with every bike out there, but can't ignore this totally; nothing wrong in being cautious.

Suggestion to anyone planning on taking this on long tours/road trips. Try using the bike for a first few days in the city (where you can get some help), before you plan for long trips. This helps you understand the character and uncover issues with your bike and fix it. Also carry a lot of spare fuses. There is just one spare, and for some reason if that's blown too, your bike is just a 180kg luggage until you find a spare.

If someone else is facing the same issue, please share your experiences here as well. Thx.

Congrats for your new ride. Very sad to hear this incident.
Apparently, I have booked my D400 from the same dealer and he has promised me the PDI today or tomorrow. I shall update further things here.

The 2017 fireblade looks heavenly... Is this bike also HMSI will say for India the older fireblade is enough?

And how about the fuse that you replaced was it blown.
Also i read somewhere that side stand acts as kill switch with a 2 sec delay.
Please note that bike would not start in gear by pressing clutch with side stand down.

Do wait for 5 sec for re cranking the engine .
Hey Ijs Thanks for your inputs... I had a service personnel come down today to inspect the vehicle. He found that the wires weren't fastened properly to the battery terminal; there was a loose connection. He tried to tighten the bolt, but that was jammed. I took it to the service station and they replaced the nut, which solved the issue for now. Glad it was not something more serious. It was not fuse related, as I couldn't start with either fuse. It just happened that the wire came in touch with the terminal after sometime and it started. Had I looked closer, I would have noticed this thing, but it was dark and I overlooked it.

If it was a side stand switch problem, how did the random shutoff happen twice when the owner was riding the bike?
@vinod, did this incident happen after the ECU update or before it?
leech, it wasn't an issue with fuse as the service guy suggested, but it was a loose connection with the battery... It behaved similarly with both fuses, so I knew it couldn't be the fuses. Later when I tried, the terminal must have been in contact with the wire, and the bike started.

But the bike stopped twice while riding, I'm not sure if this is related to loose connection as well. I will ride another couple of days to confirm on this.

I took delivery yesterday; I do not know if the ECU update was done before giving delivery. Do you suggest to do the ECU update?

I thought a rat ate your wires. Thank God it's only a loose connection.

Hey guys, ran into this video on youtube. Some kind of protection film for the tank to avoid scratches. Is this good, advisable, worthy?

Friends its a must to do for your Dominar, since the Tank is prone to scratches, watch my tank already minor scratches can be seen.Gadgets n Gears that I use...

That PPF is pretty expensive, and some 3m centers won't touch bikes.
So find out the prices, and the cost of the tank cover (if a dominar has one i.e.) then decide if it's really worth it.
E.g. the duke has a tank cover (the actual tank is under the cover), and the price of the tank cover is only around 1200rs. So i see no point adding a tank pad or some fancy face pack over it

My personal opinion, not needed.. this type of ppf (paint protection film) is generally applied towards the bottom parts of cars (bumpers, lower parts of doors etc..) to prevent paint chiping/damage caused due to dirt/tar/stone chips hitting the bottom part of the car and preventing minor scratches from affecting the paint.
Use a good wax and polish every 4-6 months and you should be fine on the dominar.
Some bikes like say the RC might benefit from maybe just using a patch of it in place of a tank pad (due to it's forward biased riding stance, that results in your belt buckle rubbing against the tank)

Why only Bajaj ?
Ideally folks should be doing this for every manufacturer irrespective of product (from Cars/bikes/electronics etc..). When you take up issues/feedback with the manufacturer directly in writing, there is a higher probability of things getting better.

DOMINAR ECU MAJOR UPDATE:

One of my friend went to checkup camp at bajaj showroom Swadeshi Bajaj New Delhi, for free bike check up.

Below are words from him:
.........................
ODO reading 2700 KMS

Got a call from Swadeshi yesterday that their is an inspection camp for Dominar & that there will be a team from Pune present
As I was having the jerking issue below 5000 RPM decided to head in today before office
Informed the Dominar technician of the jerking issue & he responded he knew of it & without even taking out the bike pulled out the OBD & connected it to BOSCH reader for an ECU update

5 mins later.. I've a bike that's TRANSFORMED completely.. know that sounds exaggeration.. but the vibes & general roughness from the engine has disappeared completely... Dare I call it.. as smooth as a HONDA... the pull is as linear as before but only much smoother... Rode 200 KMS today apart from my daily office commute to further ascertain that things have infact changed dramatically

Much recommended

Thank you Bajaj for such a prompt action
