Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Some of you guys have been asking about a 42teeth driven Sprocket mod. I got the Rolon 42 teeth sprocket and fitted on to Fernanda.
Pros:
- The first change that I noticed was that she was running on lower rpm's for higher speeds. 100kmph usually comes around @5500 on the odo now its achieved at about @5000rpm. This will result in a better fuel economy.
- I didn't feel any power loss in the lower gears 1,2&3. I'm 52kgs btw. I haven't tried with a pillion yet.
Cons:
- The chain is on the other edge of the adjuster now. As there are 3 teeths less than the stock, the chain had to be tightened to a level that only the last 3 points in the adjuster are left out. (btw the chain is 2500kms old)
- The lack of pickup was felt at higher gears. Say you are cruising @100kmph and you slow down to about 60kmph. With the 42 teeth sprocket it couldnt pull from 60kmph at 6th gear, it knocks, you ll have to downshift and then pick up the pace. To me is not a big concern.
Not sure though how long will the chain hold with the last 3 points in the adjuster after a while. I'll keep it posted about further info as I experience things.
And don't ask me about the top speed as I'll never test it out.Ride Safe!
Cheers,

No not that one, this one -Originally posted by sman999 View Postis this the one? It ll be roughly 1 - 1.5ft. Btb whats the need?
Need to replace stock brake hose on fz25abs version with steel braided ones. and looks like d400's brake lines are long enough (abs unit on fz25 is located under airbox, so abs unit to front caliper hose is longer on that bike). unfortunately local bajaj svc doesn't have any in stock and they don't let me measure on bike also. that's why i asked here. thanks btw.Fz25 2018 (ABS retrofitted)

I own the abs variant but don't know the exact length. I suspect it to be more than a metre atleast since the dominar is longish. Also try to find brake lines online. Some of them are quite long (1-2 metre) and might serve your purpose.

Actually there are options available online but those are either too costly or lower quality. d400's are in my budget but just don't know the length.Originally posted by Throttlefreak View PostI own the abs variant but don't know the exact length.
Just wondering if you finally went ahead and replaced your front fork setup with Mojo's USD forks ?Originally posted by saudjawed View PostHTML Code:Few of the upgrade on my Dominar

This is surely a head turner... looks premium. no doubt.
Looks like you've swapped entire front assembly including triple clamp and forks with Duke 390..???
I'm thinking the same kinda setup for my friend's 2017 Dom ABS version. IMO swapping the front fork setup with mahindra MOJO's USD forks(143 mm travel) would be better than Duke's.
Is it possible to use Mojo's forks on Dominar?
I own Impulse right now for all stuff like off-roading, touring, and daily commute.
Its been 3 weeks i'm using my friend's Dominar 400 ABS as she's out of India
I find the suspension setup like very stiff for my style. It's like even on 25-30 kmph the front and rear suspensions make thud/tuck sound on normal sized speed breaker and it's really annoying to use those pathetic (nearly non existent) brakes and gear down every time.
So basically what I want is comfortable seat for like 700-1000 kms/day, cozy suspension with more travel than stock with more ground clearance to do normal off roading.
so here's what I am thinking to do with Dom,
1) Front Fork upgrade - MOJO USD 143mm travel
2) Sofa seat from Autolog Designs,Pune
3) Rear suspension upgrade - don't know which one and where I can get it done. (Yes it'll affect the chain sprocket if i increase the rear suspension travel)
4) Spoke wheels front 19 rear 17/18 tube type. (finger's crossed
)
5) Brakes upgrade - stock ABS brakes are pathetic on highway/ city traffic... so thinking whether we can do master cylinder/ caliper upgrade to get it just right.
Any advice on this would be helpful. TIA

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Has anyone noticed that the trip meters count upto 999.9kms only
Is it the same since the beginning or started with 2019 model?
It's a bummer for such advanced bike since you can't show off your long rides by taking trip meter pics

It's a bug for sure and has to be for 2019 models only. Mine's waaaaaay past that mark and the trip meters show it rightly.Originally posted by kdevdatta View PostHas anyone noticed that the trip meters count upto 999.9kms only

It looks like there are some console problems reported in the first 500 bikes or so and not sure if yours is amongst them. Get it checked at a nearby SC.Wind in my hair.... and I'm semi bald...

Mine is the 2017 batch. The trip resets at 999. I don't think it's a bug. It's a stupid idea from Bajaj as such the second display in the tank.Originally posted by sanjeet286 View PostIt's a bug for sure and has to be for 2019 models only.
