Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hey Guys, New entrant to the Dominar Family. I've upgraded from my 7 years old ZMA to Dominar this may. Been riding the Domi for a month now & super impressed with the machine. Of course it vibrates & the refinement is missing (ZMA to Domi change. My quick take on this machine:
Pros:
Amazing pick up
Runs & Sounds great
Can be a great tourer
As of now, seems like a VFM product
Cons:
That 'THUD' every time I change gear
Engine Heat (Waiting for 2nd service & Delhi heat to settle down)
Tyres are pathetic (would need to change before the monsoon kicks in
Fuel tank capacity....
Here's she:

Change the oil to fully synthetic one and the vibration will reduce as well the gears will become smooth. Your bike is brand new, give her some time to settle in, she will become smooth with time.Originally posted by ajaydhansu View PostHey Guys, New entrant to the Dominar Family. 8 months that I'm running my beast.. 2018 model..
Every chain clean and lube, I start getting this Thud Thud noise on every gear up shift.. Any reason to it? It usually subsides, but now it's been 2 weeks and it still persists..

Please do some reading on why a muffler exists for vehicles. Then you should post questions.Originally posted by Jawahar.T View PostHello I own a 2018 Dominar ...I removed the end canister ...now the exhaust note is now bassy...will my mileage affects ? ..I never checked mileage before.

You need to get the chain slack adjusted.Originally posted by ginzon View PostHello guys..

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Are you opening the front sprocket cover and cleaning that area as well? If no, then open it up and don't be surprised with what you see. If yes, then it could be chain slack issue. The Thud sound generally comes in the 1st gear only for me and if I change gears less than 4k rpm. Anything about 4-4.5k rpm is butter smooth.Originally posted by ginzon View PostHello guys..

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Not at all. When you change oil filter you need more oil. If not 1500ml is fine. New oil filter absorbs & retains some oil. Thats why the difference.Originally posted by Greymatter View PostSo, Bajaj revised the recommended engine oil capacity for Dominar, it is now 1700ML. This explains why even after filling 1500ML in older version the engine oil level use to remain on the lower side, Dominar engine always needed 1700ML.Ride Safe!

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hello, encountered a strange thing today on my 2018 edition dominar.
I was riding at 30kms in second gear and the engine shut off,low oil warning popped up for a second.
Turned off ignition and tried to start the bike but it wouldn't, again the low oil warning on the speedometer was blinking.
Turned the ignition off again, waited for a minute and then the bike started as normal. No low oil warning this time
The weather was quite humid, but hadn't faced such issues on even hotter days. Kindly help! Is this normal?Thank you.. have a nice day guys.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
My Dom '19 had its first fall. It pinched me real bad to see it slip out my hands and slide to the ground. Luckily no major damages other than a scratched clutch lever end and the crash guard. This bring out my biggest concerns about crash guards. There are options from Sahyadri, Lluvia and Zana. Which amongst these three brands has the sturdiest one that I can bet my money on ?
Any Dom owners with any of these crash guards, can you please share your advice/experience/feedback and help me with getting the better one ?

I clean that area once a month coz the lube and dirty combo is awful there...Originally posted by sanjeet286 View PostAre you opening the front sprocket cover and cleaning that area as well? Kind of similar behavior with the thud...

Same happened with me within a month of purchase when had been for a trip.. Fell once on both sides, scratching the same levers and guard.. Did not change the guard as I felt it was sufficient, no leg damage nor bike body scratched..

That reminds me, I need to push some 100ml more to it.. I see the levels are below max though above min but when I have the oil why not..Originally posted by sman999 View PostNot at all. Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Below max above min, that's how exactly the oil supposed to be filled. The new update in engine oil quantity for 2019 dominar may be due to the dohc setup of the engine as opposed to the sohc of the older ones.Originally posted by ginzon View PostThat reminds me, I need to push some 100ml more to it..
