Ep 90 or 140 is fine too. 140 sprays less.

Anyone change the chain kit earlier, any benefits.
Is it ok to change only chain at 10000 and then entire kit at 20000?Well there is no hard and fast rule that it should changed at some exact KMS, I have known Dukes that have had perfect chains at 25K kms that came from factory.Originally posted by Vipergts07 View PostPreferable and safer to replace both at same time for vehicle. 13-16k is the usual range that is visible among users in forums. It mainly depends on your location and riding conditions and style, how much muddy, lot of dust, moisture your chain picks up and if your are not lugging the engine too much or without any jerky accelerations.
If you always ride on open highway during dry days without any of the mud, rain, dust expect it last more than 22-25K KMS.
Always change both chain and sprockets together, also I have barely seen both of them being sold separately, they always comes as a set in genuine parts from Bajaj, unless you are looking for aftermarket part.
P.S. 700 change labour charge from Bajaj is way way tooooo much, looks like your dealer is taking you for a ride, for my RC390 sprocket chain set cost was 3200 and labour was 300! It's a self serviceable component if you are DIYer or any road side garage can do for 200 bucks (not recommended though). Try a different dealer next time.Bajaj SuperFE 150 - Forever in my heart

Possible on the high charges but I have been enquiring for over a year at sc and i have been given max 4000 estimate.Originally posted by kiran2508 View PostWell there is no hard and fast rule that it should changed at some exact KMS, I have known Dukes that have had perfect chains at 25K kms that came from factory.

I lube myself and would hear noises from chain and front sprocket. I was anyways upto 3/4 max setting.
Chain had rusted quite a bit and bike was not riding smooth. This was not the usual dominar vibration but a jarring feeling when accelerating.
However news today has it that the next version of dominar has usd forks, dohc and greater vibe dampening.
Good for future buyers.

That's because the rpm limiter is set for the 1st 2000 Kms. I have gone to 125kmph on 6th gear and the limiter didn't glow at all (post run in). I would assume it can push till 140+ before it starts to glow.Originally posted by nats View PostIt blinks at around 105-110kmph. I've completed around 280kms on my bike till now. Yes, I had replied to the question considering the rpm linit as he had not completed 2000kms yet and I believe that's what he was asking.Originally posted by sanjeet286 View PostThat's because you have the rpm limiter set for the 1st 2000 Kms. Whoever told you not to use diesel and use only kero, is wrong in first place. Both Diesel and kero are byproducts of same stuff and they are both oil based and equally safe to use. The only difference is that diesel has a longer hydrocarbon molecular chain per molecule, kero is more close to jet fuel.Originally posted by sumith.jagadisan View PostNever ever use diesel for cleaning chain, it will damage the O rings.
90 grade oil is good. Also you can use Kerosene (actually the best agent for cleaning chain).
Diesel is also known as diesel oil and thus diesel engines are known as oil burners.
Kero/ diesel/ wd40 all three are the safest bet when it comes to chain cleaning.
20 to 30mm is the required chain slack so at 25mm your chain is good. And no they did not overcharge you on labour as it is the same here around 750 for labour as the whole swingarm needs to be removed to fit the new set.Originally posted by deepDmnr View PostDid chain kit replacement at 20000. And for the future replacement it is always good to go for the full set. At 20k kms your chain did last really long the longest here in delhi is 25k kms for one user and 21k kms for another the lowest is the 11k kms.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
You can ride as long as you like till you remain under the limiter, limiter is there to prevent the damage and it is safe to hit the limiter on regular Basis. It is just that engine woul consume more fuel at higher revs.Originally posted by faysal_khan View PostOne question guys.
How often you all ride at 7-8k rpm? And how does it affect the longevity of engine life? Or does it even affect it?

Thanks. The kit replacement is money well spent. The bike does ride better. That link does not prove anything. It has 1 or 2 pics of the upgraded dominar with a few items visible, that is all. An upgrade is imminent, but let us wait for an official update from Bajaj before jumping the gun.Originally posted by saorabbh View PostGuys it looks like Bajaj Auto heard us!

Just adding : If what you say is true, i think Bajaj is going for the super premium image for this bike since a few buyers might look at the existing Dominar as a cut down version of the high performance Dukes in more subtle avatar. DOHC, Inverted forks and Ride by Wire will surely seal the deal for this bike.Last edited by Indivar; 10-03-2018, 10:45 PM.

but the way Rushlane guys have posted this article, no other website have those extra spy pics. Maybe they are correct with some aesthetically but yes can't be so sure about the ride by wire or internals.
Fingers crossed.

I dont feel DOHC and ride by wire would be introduced. I really not sure on this, others might be okay and refinement as well might be improved along with few other changes like inverted folks and exhaust upgrade and Digital console can be changed but with very slight change as more information will not add gear shift indicator or something like that as it again needs more sensors and adds up-to cost. Bajaj wont take risk on that is what i feel.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
I also feel same. If they add and borrow all the features from duke 390. It will add to cost and dominar will be then real close to Duke 390 in pricing. Dominar sales would go even further down by that move. So i believe with little updates they will stick to pricing or may increase it by 10k max....Originally posted by Arjunachu View PostI dont feel DOHC and ride by wire would be introduced.
