That's chain lube and dust.Originally posted by faysal_khan View PostThis is the picture. What do you think?
You can clean it up or get it cleaned up(sprocket too) and that should be gone.Regards,

Rarely!Originally posted by faysal_khan View PostOne question guys.
How often you all ride at 7-8k rpm? And how does it affect the longevity of engine life? Or does it even affect it?
Dominar touches 100 kmph at around 4.5-5k rpm so 6k is a good cruising range. If you want to push the limits then only you touch the 7-8k rpm otherwise no.
If you ride agressively in city just like we ride on the track, then it definitely gonna make difference in fuel economy and service intervals.
Hope this helps."The Answer, My Friend,

At what speed the RPM limiter red light will glow in 6th gear ?
(My ODO reading is 1800KM so I'm still in run-in period and I haven't crossed the 85 KMPH speed limit till now)Last edited by NirmalDushman; 09-30-2018, 10:54 PM.

It blinks at around 105-110kmph. I've completed around 280kms on my bike till now. I guess I have to learn some self control :POriginally posted by NirmalDushman View PostAt what speed the RPM limiter red light will glow in 6th gear ?

I usually variate my speeds keeping them under 75. That 110 was an one-off event buddy
That's some great mileage figures there! I got around 24kmpl on my first full tank, didn't do any spirited riding as such. Just that I weigh equivalent to a rider and a pillion combined

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Did chain kit replacement at 20000. The SC mech has kept it tighter this time, it feels like barely 25mm play in the chain. Bike ride is smoother especially at gear up/ down.
Thinking next time will change the chain earlier as it seems to me the cost of spray and lube adds up anyways.
Anyone change the chain kit earlier, any benefits.
Is it ok to change only chain at 10000 and then entire kit at 20000?

Preferable and safer to replace both at same time for vehicle. 13-16k is the usual range that is visible among users in forums. How much did it lighten the wallet?Originally posted by deepDmnr View PostDid chain kit replacement at 20000. The SC mech has kept it tighter this time, it feels like barely 25mm play in the chain. Use 90 grade transmission oil...500ml lasts around 3 to 4 months.Originally posted by deepDmnr View PostDid chain kit replacement at 20000. The SC mech has kept it tighter this time, it feels like barely 25mm play in the chain. Bike ride is smoother especially at gear up/ down.

Clean with diesel...500 ml lasts for 4 to 5 cleaning.
It will drop your maintenance cost drastically.

Never ever use diesel for cleaning chain, it will damage the O rings.Originally posted by ~wolverine~ View PostUse 90 grade transmission oil...500ml lasts around 3 to 4 months.

90 grade oil is good. Also you can use Kerosene (actually the best agent for cleaning chain).

Actually kerosene is best but diesel is equally good(if not better).
Petrol damages O rings.
