b. Highway Drive - I will be doing weekend drives (around 200 KMs) and occasional long drives (~500 KMs).
c. Mileage - a. City Mileage b. Highway Mileage.
d. Suspension - I will have my wife accompanying me where I go.
e. Maintenance - Service interval and approx cost.
My wheels
a. Pulsar 180 (2005 Model).
b. ZMR (2011 - 2017)
c. Thunderbird (2017 - 2018).

Hi Antan,
here's mine..
a. 40 kms including high traffic will be roasting. bike gets hot in heavy traffic. but nothing to worry about it as it won't stalls mid way as D390 used to happen (they resolved this issue) also another point you'll find is it wont respond smoothly in heavy traffic condition. If your palm is small, you may find clutch on a heavier side in heavy stop and go traffic.
b. Highways are like best friend of Dominar (Made 4 each other). No issues at all. Handle bar risers and optional AUX lights are added charm.
c. Mileage - a. 25-29 km-pl b. 31-37 km-pl. This one is totally depends on your riding style.
d. Suspension are little stiff in city roads with so many potholes and speed breakers. feels like abusing your bike whenever you underestimate any pothole. but on highways....
real deal is here... Amazing !!
Never been a pillion on long ride so can't say about pillion comfort. There's pillion backrest you can install for better comfort.
e. cant say about maintenance cuz I don't own Dominar yet. But used first batch bike for more than 2000kms/ 3 months (including long rides (700+kms). So the everything you see above is what I experienced.
its a value for money bike my friend. You wont feel the bike until you ride it. find a friend who owns a Dom. Use that Dom for a week or two.. then decide. Cuz frankly.. Dom gulps a lot fuel if you gonna use for commuting also.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Mine is july 2018 production. I believe it has more to do with bad fuel quality. Or maybe a less fuel. It wasn't less by any means. It was 2 bars of fuel. Just refueled to brim and runs fine. It is intermittent issue. But still makes me worried as it is new bike and wanna munch much more happy miles with it.Originally posted by Ijs View PostGet the ecu reflashed. This thing you are trying to tell does happened with few but only once or twice just after crossing the 2000kms , something like rpm unlocking.
Ecu flash with latest files would definitely resolve this. Or else do get the af checked as told by hardik.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Probably bad fuel then , 2 bars mean there us good enough fuel in the tank. I usually fill when the last one starts to blink and at that point around little more then 10trs goes in, which means there is around 3 ltrs remaining.Originally posted by faysal_khan View PostMine is july 2018 production. Keep an eye on it for now.

Get the airfiler n intake path checked.. Or sometimes it could be like an fuel pump unable to pump in fuel due to air lock hence the lag.. Try opening the tank and closing it and checking if it occurs againOriginally posted by faysal_khan View PostHello guys. Completed first 2k kms of run in period in my dominar a while ago. Now i try to ride it hard sometimes like it's meant to be.
Now the problem is when i try to accelerate it suddenly. It gives me kind of turbo lag in turbo car at around 4.5k rpm. N then power. Only the problem is lag period is so longer than cars. I don't know if it is present in all bikes or only mine! I don't remember if test ride vehicle had this problem. Is it common? It just ruins the thrill. It's not a smooth power delivery like they claim. It feels powerless for more than a second. And then give it a power. What could be the issue?

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hello guys. I've a query about dominar's LED headlight.
If one of 10 LEDs malfunction or goes off what should we do. I know LEDs have real long life. But i read a while ago on this same forum about a same issue.
Are we supposed to change whole headlight assembly (which is definitely quitr expensive) or can we replace only the LEDs?
Thank you.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Bought the new Dominar on Monday. Thanks to faysal for suggesting shisa baja, vadodara. Overtaking is very easy with this much power and in love with power. on highways it feels very smooth. on the first day itself i drove 210km on highway(not above 4.5k rpm), once tried to accelerate to see the remaining power of bike but after 80kmph it was virbating so much and after 88kmph there was no power. is it because of new engine? will it be fixed by itself? should i be worried?

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
It'll be so much smoother after first service. Bike comes with mineral oil from factory. Once they pour synthetic at first service. It'll make huge difference. Don't worry about anything. Just enjoy the ride. Have fun.Originally posted by jitark View PostBought the new Dominar on Monday. Thanks to faysal for suggesting shisa baja, vadodara. Bajaj will only ask you to replace the the headlight unit.Originally posted by faysal_khan View PostHello guys. I've a query about dominar's LED headlight.

But it might be possible to replace the led depending on the availability of such led modules and the ease/practicality of opening up the headlamp unit.. Sometimes it might not be the led but other associated electronic components that might be causing the headlight to fail.
Gotta wait n see if someone is tearing up a headlight unit and repairing it and posts some info about it.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Think this is discussed in the upcoming threads, but one guy from DOC Bangalore had major issues when he used non Bajaj oil (similar grade) during his warranty period. So stick to the oil in the warranty period and then use your choice of oil post that.Originally posted by ksmtkmr View PostThanks for the info about fuel pump in FI system, didn't know that! I don't think I will ever let the fuel indicator blink. It's always gonna be full tank. I used reserve as an indicator to fill fuel on my old bike. I guess I have to get used to relying of the fuel gauge. As I'm gonna give my bike for servicing tomorrow, wondering if I should stick with the oil Bajaj intends to use? Should I buy some other brand and ask them to use it instead?Wind in my hair.... and I'm semi bald...

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
I actually bumped into a guy who works for MRPL and we spoke a lot about the fuel of shell vs BP vs HP. He said that Shell gets thier fuel from them only and is the same quality as hp vs BP. There's no difference and are all BS V compliant. I think the only reason they are expensive is because of being pvt and hence may have less subsidies.Originally posted by Akash.Yadav View Post1. That could be the oil left after changing it. Usually when the drain bolt underneath the engine is removed, the oil gushes out in all directions. Some of it might have logged itself in some location and slowly appearing as drops when you parked on thr side stand. Use a clean cloth to clean the underside and exhaust part of the bike and check if the drain bolt is properly tightened.
2. Shell normal fuel is Euro 6 compliant and is 91 octane petrol. There's no need to go for Xtra-Premium or Speed for Dominar. A clean normal Shell petrol works nicely.
You have any other sources of info? I'm presently going a bit further to fill at HP rather than Shell which is closer. Don't want to be paying 3rs extra per litre at Shell.Wind in my hair.... and I'm semi bald...

Yes, this is the new Insurance duration set recently for all bikes sold after Sept 01. Painful to pay such a high premium all at once.Originally posted by antan_shank View PostLet's see. Red and black combination is deadly.
Heard the 5 years insurance is compulsory. Got a call from showroom to do 50% payment and get the bike before the compulsory rule chips in.Wind in my hair.... and I'm semi bald...

They have their own refinery and they purify the thing they call fuel.
They are costly because they do work with a refinery.
As Shell says, their quality of fuel remains the same throughout the world.
Euro 6 is more or less the BS4 which we have.
I've personally experienced this in my P220. With HP or BP(COCO pumps) my 220 runs a bit hotter and harsher. With Shell, I get a slightly better fuel efficiency and a lot smoother bike.Regards,

Just to clarify, Shell get their fuel from MRPL (refineries) directly.Originally posted by Akash.Yadav View PostYes, that's right that Shell gets their fuel from HP or BP.

Your feedback about the fuel of Shell vs the others seems to debunk what the guy told me. So difficult to figure out what the actual truth is :-)Wind in my hair.... and I'm semi bald...
