Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
The change intervals for Motul are surprising. Past few posts say that we need to do top ups for Motul every 3-4k Kms.Originally posted by kany1991 View PostStay away from Castrol
I would prefer Bajaj's( total) synthetic oil over Castrol
And I've used shell advance too it lasts upto 3,500 kms on my NS
Bajaj's oil 4.5-5k kms
Motul 7100 - 6-6.5kWind in my hair.... and I'm semi bald...

Well every oil needs top up after 3-4k kms but most of the oil won't last that long[emoji1787]Originally posted by sanjeet286 View PostThe change intervals for Motul are surprising. Past few posts say that we need to do top ups for Motul every 3-4k Kms.

Our market is full of counterfeit Castrol Oils and the packaging is done so well that it's almost impossible to distinguish between genuine and duplicate so better avoid Castrol.Originally posted by ashislakra1989 View PostAny valid reason to stay away from Castrol oil or you meant to avoid certain mineral oil ?2005 HH Karizma [SOLD]

Ohk. I'm on Bajaj Synthetic till date and change it every 4-5k Kms and hence never topped it till date. It's been within the min max level after a warm engine level check, hence thought of asking.Originally posted by kany1991 View PostWell every oil needs top up after 3-4k kms but most of the oil won't last that long[emoji1787]Wind in my hair.... and I'm semi bald...

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Many owners here said that Motul specially 7100 burns quickly in Dominar. If you wanna stick with 10W50 grade then I'd suggest Liqui Moly, Repsol, Veedol FS Oils.Originally posted by rookster View PostSo, all in all is the Motul better or the Bajaj FS oil better ?2005 HH Karizma [SOLD]

Quickly as in 3k kms.. I topped up 100ml then..Originally posted by Greymatter View PostMany owners here said that Motul specially 7100 burns quickly in Dominar. If you wanna stick with 10W50 grade then I'd suggest Liqui Moly, Repsol, Veedol FS Oils.
Not much pain, do it in your own parking...

In that case, did you ask the SVC guys why use Motul Inugel instead of Bajaj Koolnex as coolant? Won't that void warranty of the respective parts?Originally posted by rookster View PostBut for the first year of ownership you have to stick to Bajaj oil for warranty purposes, isn't it ?
I don't see any reason other than marketing and profit for pushing Bajaj's oil.. Stick to the oil specs and respective oil change interval, all is good...
Oil Grade: 10w50 API SN & JASO MA2
Don't forget JASO MA2 as we have slipper clutch..
I'm on Motul since my first servicing.. The first 300kms that the factory oil ran in, since then Motul only...

I would'nt know why Motul Inugel instead of Bajaj Koolex coz I haven't got to that point yet. These are all clearing of facts and learning phase for a better maintenance of the motorbike.Originally posted by ginzon View PostQuickly as in 3k kms.. I topped up 100ml then..

So, the Bajaj FS is 20w50 and Motul FS is 10w50. Is that degree difference acceptable ?
And what's the difference between Motul FS and Motul 300v ?

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
There two types of Bajaj DTS-i oil available, one is 20W50 Semi Synthetic which is used in Discover, Pulsar & Avenger. Then there is Bajaj DTS-i 10W50 Fully Synthetic for Dominar.Originally posted by rookster View PostI would'nt know why Motul Inugel instead of Bajaj Koolex coz I haven't got to that point yet. Motul 300V is a Fully Synthetic oil specially used in High Performance Bikes for Racing. It is not recommended for street use though.2005 HH Karizma [SOLD]

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
20w and 10w is the cold start temperature.. That is acceptable based on the temperature of your city.. I don't understand why people even bother with it..Originally posted by rookster View PostI would'nt know why Motul Inugel instead of Bajaj Koolex coz I haven't got to that point yet. For Dominar even Bajaj offer 10w50...
Motul 300v, don't think we really need that on a tourer.. Racing oil.. I suppose it's like running the factory mineral oil that we had during the run-in period... I can be wrong with that information..

YouTube video of 2019 Bajaj Dominar 400 test ridden with Speedo disconnected.
Hello fellow XBHPians,
Here’s a YouTube video of the Bajaj Dominar 2019 being test ridden. The speedometer is at a constant zero because it has been disconnected by the dealership. Yeah, I know the uploader has clarified his position in the comments and that the dealership will eventually register the bike in its name but even then, disconnecting the speedometer doesn’t make sense.

Another XBHPian here who goes by the name of ‘Mr.Osm’, shared his experience a few pages earlier (Page 774) and his doesn’t seem to be an isolated case with the only difference being that it was the showroom employees abusing the motorcycle themselves.
Originally posted by Mr.Osm View PostHello everyone i booked a dominar 2019 model my bike came to showroom and waiting for rto approval but mechanics are riding the bike like anything they are riding in higher rpms and revving the engine... ...kind of activities and after 25km only they will give the bikes to the customers seems... ... Please help me out guys
Some questions around this -
- I have often heard from friends that they have seen test ridden motorcycles with disconnected speedometers that have been later put up for sale by dealerships. Would love to hear what a customer can do to avoid such vehicles?
- It is often recommended that one should get a bike that is offloaded from the factory delivery truck right in front of you. How is that possible given the fact that sometimes such offloading happens in the early hours of morning (3 AM?). I wonder if Bajaj can confirm the delivery date to a customer because ‘the-sooner-off-of-their-hands-the-better’?
Thank you guys!Last edited by trailwright; 05-09-2019, 09:11 AM.
