Another XBHPian here who goes by the name of ‘Mr.Osm’, shared his experience a few pages earlier (Page 774) and his doesn’t seem to be an isolated case with the only difference being that it was the showroom employees abusing the motorcycle themselves.

    Some questions around this -

    1. I have often heard from friends that they have seen test ridden motorcycles with disconnected speedometers that have been later put up for sale by dealerships. Would love to hear what a customer can do to avoid such vehicles?
    2. It is often recommended that one should get a bike that is offloaded from the factory delivery truck right in front of you. How is that possible given the fact that sometimes such offloading happens in the early hours of morning (3 AM?). I wonder if Bajaj can confirm the delivery date to a customer because ‘the-sooner-off-of-their-hands-the-better’?

    Thank you guys!
    1. To avoid such used/abused/test ridden vehicles check for the following things.

    >Worn out paint/scratches on the tank where knees are locked and near the tank pad area.

    >Tyre wear - A new tyre will have hair like things on it, formed during tyre manufacturing. They should be present on a new bike.

    >Scuff marks on brake/clutch levers.

    > General cleanliness/greasing.

    2. If the dealership guys insist on the same bike put your foot down and tell them that you're willing to come down to the dealership at 3 A.M. in the morning (not to be done literally [emoji14] ). This will convey the message to them that you're serious about the money you're spending. Also build a rapport with the sales guy so he will get the job done.

Here's a one more quick tip: Walk into the showroom confidently so the guys know that you have done your homework and will hesitate before saying anything that might get them into trouble.

"and will hesitate before saying anything that might get them into trouble."

Assuming that the last line meant "and THEY will hesitate before saying anything that might get them into trouble." [emoji1]

So it's us dealing with the way things are and keeping our eyes peeled. Thanks for the post Throttlefreak.

Guys a query. Is there a lockable side pannier (lovingly known as dikki) available for Dominar that serves the purpose and at the same time doesn't spoil the looks of this machine? I have to travel three different companies with two laptops that aren't allowed inside each other's premises hence have to kept in the pannier. Thanks for your help in advance

Why of course! Here's a lovingly green chute pannier. Google had this to throw up for a Dominar green pannier. I'm not sure if it'd match to everyone's taste but it is green and seemingly has the potential to be shut and locked up quite good.

            Hello XBHPians,

This is Dipanjan from Kolkata. I used to have Avenger 220, which I sold recently and got hold of the new Dominar (Matte Black). Just got the delivery yesterday. The machine is amazing, just love the raw power it delivers. Only cons I found is that the rear brakes aren't strong enough. But I hope they will get stronger over time. Else will have to follow up with the SVC. Would love to know about other owners opinions too.

            Regards

Even i bought 2019 Dominar on 3rd May. Even i'm facing the weak rear brake issue. Is that a common issue in all Dominar's?

Something for Indian conditions? That bag you listed can be torn up and made to look like it never existed on my biker, ever!

Did the delivery of new updated 2019 model start already and happening silently? Many people are yet to hear about delivery date those who had pre-booked these bikes.

I've got my '19 Dom too. The issue I'm facing is that the moment you take your hands off the handle bar it just pulls to the right immediately. Even when hitting the front brake, I can feel it dampening more towards the right. What can be causing this ?

Wow, Similar issue with mine too. I was surprised to see that the machine is not balanced at all, like you said, it pulls towards the right after I leave my handlebars.
Also, I would request the new owners to check the engine oil level through the window, mine is not visible at all, going to buy the bajaj oil and will top it up.
I checked the engine oil level while the vehicle was upright, not on side stand.

Yesterday I was checking the rear brake, and I found that since Dominar is almost aggresive stanced bike, the front brake is the primary one to stop the vehicle, the rear brake also does the work, however, since the weight is concentrated on the front while braking, rear brake wont give you that much feedback. I managed to kick the ABS of the rear wheel several times during testing, hence can confirm it works.

Hpw many KMs have you guys clocked till date? Changed the coolant at what KM?

A lockable side pannier may be difficult to find as they are pretty expensive. Also using a single sided pannier might upset the balance of the bike. You can fit a top box which is available from studds along with a rack. A top box can also swallow up a helmet. One xbhpian has done it and you can find the details on page 280 of this forum.
