Since i got my bike delivered in September 2018, this has happened to me 4 or 5 time's till now. Just now my bike just turned off while i was downshifting from 4th to 3rd in middle of the highway.
I was so lucky that i was able to get the bike off the highway quickly. I took my bike straight to Bajaj service center , they are about to check it.

Does anybody else encountered this issue. What should i do now?

Yes, I faced the same issue while in traffic after the bike was heated. Got ECU to reset in the last service and also cleaned the BS4 petrol drain line and the problem never occurred. Covered 1200 Kms after the work was done and looks fine till date.

Please check the BS4 petrol line, that needs cleaning on a regular basis. I think that is the culprit.

      ECU version - 117
      Odo - 6K Kms.

My brother also faced this same issue on his 2017 model dominar. The culprit was throttle body.

How is it compared to Interceptor 650. I am currently driving Avenger 2011 edition. And looking to upgrade to a more potent option. And have finalised Dominar or Interceptor. My daily usage will be 70% City and 30 % highway. Have driven Dominar for around 100kms with pillion and it was very good. Easy to maneuver in City and Highway. Hopefully 2019 edition is going to be even better. Also test driven Interceptor for around 20km, from seat, footpegs point of view it was a pain. But bike handled and driven beautifully. What's your suggestion?

Interceptor has more performances, but less practicality than dominar, for eg: it runs on tube tyres, more heavy, less flickable than dominar etc.

Someone has had a similar in this thread where the bike sounded differently in a specific gear. He got that gear replaced.

Thanks for the quick response, I am not able to find that thread. one more thing I need to add these sound come from the engine, is it really related to gear issue?. my gear shifting became harder now.

Now the sound has amplified. can anyone help identify what it could be? ignore the video quality, just listen to the sound.

to better describe the sound, it sounds like how the honda eterno sounds, or when you drive a car a bit too fast while going in the reverse gear.
                      Has anyone else experienced this?

Edit 15th Oct 2018 - update - So i visited the showroom sitara motors in margao, Goa. They said its an issue with the 4th gear and some two parts need to be replaced. and looks like my 6 month old bike's engine will need to be opened. now im worried.

Edit 17th Oct 2018 - Update - I did file a complain with bajaj so that they have an official record of whats happening,
i know this will come in handy if things go wrong in the future with the process.

I visited today for a followup,

The two parts that have been ordered are
                      1 x Gear 3Rd-4Th Drive| - part no - JY551229
                      1 x Gear 4Th Driven| - part no - JY551235
                      more information here - https://www.99rpm.com/bajaj/gears-dominar-400.html

And the expected wait time is freaking 12 days minimum. They won't even know if they have the part or not,
to know if they even have the part in stock, it takes 3 days to find out which is ridiculous.
I will keep editing my original post so that everyone can look at it at once glance instead of searching around for the entire story.

Stay tuned for more updates. I will keep editing this post
Here is the thread you're looking for.

The gearbox (not really a 'box' in case of bikes) is also a part of the engine. I can't comment on gear shifting becoming hard in Dominar as I've neither own nor have ridden one till date.

Hey, i did get them replaced all free of cost btw, only had to pay for the engine oil replacement which is fine. the bike no longer makes such sounds .
Turns out the entire manufacturing batch had this gear problem. april 2018 batch to be specific. my friend from Pune had the same issue which belonged to the same batch.

Have you checked the engine oil level? When did you changed the engine oil last time? Is your bike chain is properly cleaned and lubed ?

Gear shifting can be jerky for all above reasons. These are main causes. If shifting is hard for specific gear then show the bike to SVC and get it diagnosed.
