Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hi everyone,
I just joined this forum and this is my first post. I'm sorry if I did something wrong.
I had a Dominar 1 month ago (odo 1000km now) but I think I have a problem. The thing is, this is my second bike. My first bike was Pulsar 150NS. I really like my domi(nar) but I think the low rpm of 1-2-3 gears are not good as Pulsar. The engine is like knocking on lower rpms (2k-3k). Is anyone else facing same thing or is this expected since bike has bigger CC?
The other thing is engine has too much compression, when I lever the clutch bike frees and goes on well. But in same gears as I already said -1,2,3 gears- compression is too much for me (as I compared to pulsar). I checked the discs both rear and front but they are seems okey. Again, is this expected behavior?
Thanks!

Hi peyloride, welcome to the forum! Since dominar has a bigger engine, higher top speed and different ratios as 150ns as well as higher compression ratio so the engine behaviour will be a bit different.Originally posted by peyloride View PostHi everyone,

1. What you mention as knocking is actually the engine struggling at very low revs, refferred to as lugging the engine. This is actually harmful to the engine since the the big end bearing and crank get a lot of beating. It is better to let the engine rev higher in the lower gear. Also, since the bike has a higher top speed, the ratios will be different, the gears will be taller in dominar so at speeds where you could do 3rd or even 4th in 150ns, would require 2nd in dominar. Also, the engine tuning would be different as well.
2. Since the compression ratio is higher, the engine breaking will also be higher meaning, when you leave the accelerator, the bike would want to slow down much more than the 150ns even without brakes since it takes more work to push the piston up during compression stroke.
Do try to learn the bike's characteristics, keep the rpm above 2.5k atleast in lower gears and within the rpm mentioned in the manual and no constant rpms till your running in completes and enjoy hyper-riding!

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
I'm not sure. Did it exactly 2 years back. But there will be steps, you hav to bring it to a lower step to make it soft. If you still want the direction let me know I'll check the vehicle and update later.Originally posted by Greymatter View PostOh, do we need to turn it clockwise or anti clockwise to make it soft?Ride Safe!

If I were you I would remove the tank and check from the top. Are you sure it's oil? And not fuel?Originally posted by TheQuarterMile View PostJust noticed this leak today. Is this from the head gasket? Ride Safe!

Not sure. Will visit the service center tomorrow and update. But how could it be fuel from the sides? Haven't noticed any abnormal drop in fuel level.Originally posted by sman999 View PostIf I were you I would remove the tank and check from the top. Are you sure it's oil? And not fuel?

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Below the fuel tank sits the fuel output. So if it's fuel, my doubts are with the hoses that are associated with the fuel delivery. Get it checked and rectified. Let's hope nothing major.Originally posted by TheQuarterMile View PostNot sure. Will visit the service center tomorrow and update. But how could it be fuel from the sides?
