Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
If they haven't charged you for the filters then it's a gurantee that they haven't changed it.Originally posted by antan_shank View PostSorry my bad, typo I meant Total.
Yes, they took 120 rupees for chain lubing. I am already DYI person and lubing the chain on my own. I was in a desperate situation to get the chain cleaned and lubed hence opted for doing it in the service center.
My concern is regarding Oil filter, they didn't charge me for the same hence forcing me to believe that they didn't change it in the first service. Can you please clear following doubts:
a. Is oil filter part of oil change charges?
b. If not changed, should I change it now already done 100 Kms or wait till 2nd service.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Antan Banerjee.

RE used to cost me 200 rupee.
Change the oil filter at every oil change (I do it at every 5kms though it's 'recommended' to do it every 10kms). Clean the magnetic filter and one more filter below the engine (can be accessed by removing the engine cowl).Wind in my hair.... and I'm semi bald...

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
According to me, each bar is 1.25ltrs. So once you see nobats left, you'll be left with approx 3ltrs of reserve fuel.Originally posted by Kshah View PostAny help on fuel gauge? How much is 1 bar and when should I fill fuel? I mean should I wait till last bar to disappear? Since I bought used bike it came with more than 3/4 tank. Right now it's 3 bar.
I happened to go down to no bars once for 2kms, and then tanked up and 10ltrs got filled at the bunk.Wind in my hair.... and I'm semi bald...

Simply put, BS4 means they have REDUCED the pollution, it's not like we're driving E-bikes. So, a regular checking of vehicle pollution simply shows how well is the engine efficiency. My mechanic uses that Pollution checking machine to set the A/FR.Originally posted by saorabbh View PostAnd why the hell we required PUC certificate on BSIV engines.
Every BS4 engine is made to follow pollution norms. Then why there's is this PUC and huge penalty for not having it.

Assuming you have completed your trip already, but incase you haven't, then you can do the below (in no particular order).Originally posted by antan_shank View PostThen I will wait for few more days and then take a call..
I will be doing a weekend trip of 400 KMs. Any tip, this will be my first long ride. Planning to be within 80kms / hr as I have not completed 2k KMs.
Another question:
I have got my number plate fitted, Pollution done, road tax done and insurance done. But didn't receive the RC but have the RC downloaded in digilocker. Can I take the bike another city in same state? This will be helpful.

Thanks!! Happy riding..

Grab the tank I assume.. sure let me check this weekend..
1) don't rev too aggressively, esp when starting from a stationary position
2) you can push to 85-100kmph during the journey, but not for too long. Don't rev more than 5.5k rpm
3) don't stay at a particular speed for too long. Go to 80, them slow down to 60 for a bit, then push to 90, then back to 75 etc etc. You can stay on certain speed for a bit and then change it.
4) Stop every 60-80kms or every 45mins if it's your first long ride. The benefits of a quick 10min break is unbelievable. And your body will thank you later.
5) riding gears!!
6) tank up, fill air in your tires (I generally do 30F 33R for long rides), check oil and coolant levels
7) have fun :-). Assuming it'll be only you and your Dominar, take time to understand her and how she reacts to the road. Accordingly adjust your riding style.Last edited by sanjeet286; 11-19-2018, 01:15 PM.Wind in my hair.... and I'm semi bald...

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Sorry forgot to update, changed the oil filter and engine oil both for free from the service center. They acknowledged that it was their mistake and they provided free engine oil change, engine oil filter, foam wash and free access to their service bay.Originally posted by sanjeet286 View PostIf they haven't charged you for the filters then it's a gurantee that they haven't changed it.

They pleaded and begged for not launching a complaint against their service center.

Yes that process is called co check and afr is set accordingly , and it is one of the accurate way to do it.Originally posted by Zapps View PostSimply put, BS4 means they have REDUCED the pollution, it's not like we're driving E-bikes. Yes, I have seen this before , But i wanted the info for how many kms of range is the flushing required. The video clearly shows the process of flushing the radiator but he doesn't mention the interval.

Yupp, and it made my vehicle pass the Pollution test, the CO & NOx numbers came down within limits, efficiency increased. Too bad those idiots at PUC centre don't inform about that.Originally posted by Ijs View PostYes that process is called co check and afr is set accordingly , and it is one of the accurate way to do it.

When the last bar is shown and the fuel gauge blinks it's approx 3/3.5ltrs remaining, the gauge starts blinking early... The rest out of 13ltrs i.e. 8.5/9ltrs you can divide by the number of bars that are out.. Don't ride long on the last bar as what I heard from the service guys is the FI system works better with atleast 3ltrs at store... Not sure why n how, but I take this seriously as I won't be able to push the bike to any gas station

I don't think anyone would consider pushing this 180kgs beast [emoji23][emoji23]. The low fuel happened only once, and I more or less fill when the last bar starts blinking.Originally posted by ginzon View PostWhen the last bar is shown and the fuel gauge blinks it's approx 3/3.5ltrs remaining, the gauge starts blinking early... Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Guys need a help. I own a Gixxer since 2015 and was never satisfied with the stock Headlights on it. Had changed the regular Halogens to LEDs when I bought the bike, but as I did not add projectors, the LED hardly had any focus on the road. Did not matter much as I had very limited night driving. But past few months my night driving has increased and the Gixxer Headlights are very tough to manage.
I did not want to go with a higher wattage Halogen as the battery in Gixxer is very puny. So finally went ahead and got the Dominar Headlight assembly fixed. The Light throw & focus is awesome from the unit. The issue I'm having is with the wiring. Online Videos of fixing Dominar assembly in other bikes are older model headlights which have only one socket. The one I have got has two sockets. Currently I can either switch on the Pilot lamps or the entire Low & Highbeam together. My electrician is unable to find a way to the Low beam mode. He did not want to experiment too much with LEDs. Asked me to wait till he gets a new Dominar for some work and will assess the exact wiring.
Anyone here has any suggestions?
