And do a warm Check first thing in the morning , keep the bike straight.
It takes a hell lot of time to get warm and considering the cold I don't see any till it runs.. I ride a few kms and check, it's above the max but then only reason I am considering a top up is I'm planning a Goa trip this December.. Don't want any issues there..

Is it normal to get some foul smell of the exhaust all of a sudden?

You can keep 100 ml bottles of bajaj dtsi 10000 20w50 , many has done this and used it to top up with motul without any issues.

What kind of foul smell, some times it is the water or chain lube which has fallen on the exhaust causes this smell.

Can we top up the oil by ourselves? I know we can, but when it's cold or warm?

The exhaust, tt rained recently could be due to some splashes or oily water on the road.. Will wash it once and verify again..

Yes you can do topup on ur own, just do a warm check at top up if needed do it in 50ml parts.

Just for the information and it is important step, as i have seen and heard many svc and mechanics avoid doing it at the oil change.
There are three filters to be taken care of, one is oik filter which is changed with each oil change, then the strainer filter inside the drain bolt which is cleaned, and most importantly the one more strainer/collector/magnetic filter which collects the metal dust and it is placed at the bottom center this is the one which most svc and mechanics do not open saying that exhaust needs to be removed for it, which is not true.
Just the bottom cowl is removed to access it and when we open this good 80 to 100ml old dirty oil comes out. This filter is also cleaned with each oil change.

This time i have clicked a clear pic of this and to open this size 13 or 14 ring spanner is needed.

A query specifically for brother IJS.
You said your bikes odo is at 11k kms. And your running on apollo alphas now. So what was the life of your stock MRF? Isn't it's too less? Or 10-11k is fine? Because that's the life of metzellers i believe.

Ps. I tried to ask you in message but seems like your inbox is full. Sorry.

Yes that inbox fills very fast.
Regarding the tyres I have already mentioned it that my very close friend is whoelsale sale Dealer/ distributor of Apollo so we knew about these tyres way before any meet or press release and he wanted me to be the first one in Delhi to get these Alpha h1s so my Dominar is the first one to get this set here in Delhi if not pan India got it before the official launch. I changed tyres at 9k kms on odo the old mrf are still eating dust at my place no cuts no puncture but this is the very worthy upgrade Alpha has really good grip.

Highway milage achieved on last 350kms ride before the service with 5000kms old oil is 33.5kmpl city fe stands at 26 to 28kmpl.
Got the ecu updated to 117 at this service , and yes this is the confirmed latest version for Abs Dominar. Did stalled the bike few times after the update while downshifts to counter this use the revv matching and this will be normal after 5 to 10kms no stalling after that. This happens coz the ecu takes a little time to adjust to throttle input with new software.

Service cost is INR 2510, which includes bajaj dtsi 10000 10w50 oil 1.5 ltrs, new airfilter, new oil filter, new inline fuel filter, rear break pads(older ones still have 40% life left), chain overhaul/service, some consumables and paid labour charges which is 500 plus gst.

Chain adjustment of my Dominar is now at the second point which means it can easily last over 20k kms. I am regular with lubing but, i avoid Cleaning at frequent short intervals and i dont ride in Jack the ripper mode(sometimes i do ride like that).

Now the important part, for the owners of older lot or 2017 Made bikes bajaj have released a tank vibration reduction kit which is free of cost for old owners(some labour might be charged).
And the other very important part is the L shaped clamp for chain slider to keep it in its place to prevent it form coming off and ending up in the front sproket (which has happened with few owners).
Today the vibration kit was out of stock but they did install the chain slider clamp behind the chain dust cover, for this the technician did remove the gear lever (don't know why). For this clamp i was not charged a single rupee , only a warranty slip was made relating to the chassis number.
Do contact your service center for this clamp( do not refer my name ) i am not allowed to shared the pic of the part here. But this update seems to be an important one and kudos to bajaj for keep working to improve a already fantastic motorcycle.

My Dominar is from the very first lot and delivered on the first day.
Wish you all infinite happy miles.

Awesome! I got the AMC done for the bike here in Thane, Maharashtra. 1500 excl gst.

I miss the 118 update on the bike LJS bhai. The bike was butter smooth with it, except that I couldn't go above 91km/hr. I'd consider the fact that the ECU takes time to get used to the new fueling and throttle input, but I'd already covered 300+ km on the highway. The downgrade to 117 makes the engine response a bit coarse and industrial and induces vibrations as well. At least on my bike. The mileage on this thing is still terrific, considering the peak hour traffic and my stupidish riding habits. I love this machine. And I miss the 118 update on this thing. Can't say it enough. Should I reflash it with 117 just incase?

Asked the SVC guy about this and he confirmed it too. For those from the Mumbai region, the guys at Sai Service Lower Parel and Borivali change this "third" filter just on the first service. They remove the cowl and do it. Later on at the second service (around 7k on odo) when I got the oil replaced, they didn't. I changed the SVC from Sai Service to Kanchan bajaj in Thane and they do remove and replace this third filter. Planning to get the oil changed at 16k now.

I have got the 117 update and it is the confirmed version for abs and i did not feel any significant diffrence from the previous 116 i had, the engine characteristics are still the same. A long rider can only tell more as till now i have only rode 20km with the update, If you are thinking for a reflash then 117 is the file to go with.
And for the third filter , important thing to note here is that even if they do not clean it but still make them open it as after opening it good 80 to 100ml old oil comes out and it is important to drain the dirty oil completely before filling fresh oil.

Already have the 117 "downgrade" that I flashed at Kolhapur. The flash was done in a haste and hence I was wondering if a proper clean and reflash would help?

                                Hi Guys.

I want to know does anyone has installed FOG Lamps on Dominar 400? I want to install them under the headlamp for better throw and visibility unlike on Leg guard.

Any other apt place to install them? Please suggest.
