Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Yes, the premiumness along with a very low vertical play (due to the lever's thickness) can be felt every time you press the clutch. A friend of mine also installed the adjustable brake lever and noticed a considerable improvement in braking performance.Originally posted by antan_shank View PostHi,
Installed the adjustable clutch from Duke 390. Felt the difference in build quality, more premium. I will change the front lever to adjustable once it's available at my place.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hi, my Dominar 400 ABS completed 700 KMS and I got the 1st first servicing done at 507 KMS. I noticed something and would like to know if its common among all Dominar's. See, Dominar is a very powerful bike but still while riding within the city specially through slowly moving traffic I felt that I need to shuffle gears alot just like my previous bike 2008 R15 V1.0. What really confuses me is that R15 V1.0 had a weak bottom end so it was understandable but our Dominar is a torquey machine so it should perform better na? Situations in which an RTR or Pulsar would pull cleanly from slow speeds at 2nd gear without knocking, I have to downshift to 1st. Is it because of the weight or what?
P.S:- I am 6ft tall and my weight is 67 KG.2005 HH Karizma [SOLD]

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
That is because the commuter bikes have the gear ratios such that the commuter-ish speeds (10-30kmph) in each gear would or could overlap. I had owned a pulsar 150 and i could ride at a constant speed of 15kmph in either 1st (at 4500 rpm), or 2nd (at 3000 rpm) or 3rd (at 2000 rpm). This is done so that you don't need to make frequent gear shifts in crawling traffic and can ride easily. For Dominar or other performance oriented bikes (r15 per se) the speeds don't overlap around 10-30kmph (city traffic). In dominar you cannot ride below 16 kmph in 2nd without half clutching thats how the gear ratios are created, similarly you cannot ride below 21 kmph in 3rd without half clutching. Such gear ratios ensure you reach higher speeds in each gear.Originally posted by Greymatter View PostHi, my Dominar 400 ABS completed 700 KMS and I got the 1st first servicing done at 507 KMS. A splendor can pull in either of the 4 gears at around speeds of 20 despite the smaller engine but will max out around 80. Compare that to dominar which will cruise at 80 at just around 4500 rpm but cannot pull easily in 3rd or 4th at 20kmph.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Looks killer.
Just one point : They should have raised the ground clearance as they revised the exhaust.

Just wanted to know if there is possibility of the Old gen dominar to replace the Overhead cam with the new UG DOHC ??Originally posted by Rituraj_singh View PostLooks killer.

coz it would be sufficient if the cylinder dimension where Cam sits is same size. Not sure though

My answer would be no.Originally posted by Arjunachu View PostJust wanted to know if there is possibility of the Old gen dominar to replace the Overhead cam with the new UG DOHC ??

And another answer would be that you are asking at a wrong place your local bajaj workshop mechanic would be the best person to reply this question.
Could be possible that there are lot many things which are changed inside the block.
And more importantly, is that thing really needed, i I don't think so as for me the one we have is perfect bike in itself. Model upgrades always brings up some tempting changes which are not possible to do on the older versions. Body kit i think can be easily replaced ans same for usd as many have already using usd from d390.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
No, as explained by IJS.
The only option would be to get whole engine rebuild/replaced
. Thus, it would be better to buy the new one than getting this job done.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
The same problem I experience everyday on my dominar, but in 4500 rpm.Originally posted by PrinceCruise View PostIf the peak torque comes up at 3000 RPM, doesn't mean it ended there.
And, different parts resonate at different frequencies. Example - my bike's left mirror will vibe only at a specific 6500 RPM, anything less or higher, it doesn't create any noise.
