The excitement part and unable to sleep because of it speaks volumes about your passion and this in particular steals the show! Congrats on your new purchase and looking forward to seeing a splash of colours which Bajaj will be decorating their future Dominars with!

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread

Hello there , got the delivery of dominar on 9th of January from Sri Siddhi Vinayaka Bajaj Kachiguda. went to the showroom at 10.00 AM and had to wait till 6.15 PM for the delivery. Very unfriedly sales team, they did not inform the customer regarding the payment options well in advance. I was hoping to buy it through my debit card but the showroom guys told 1.5% extra will be charged. so the only bettr option i had was NEFT, just rushed to the bank and transferred the said amount of 1,63,100 to the respective account and the balance of 9000/-being paid in advance. So the final cost coming down to 1,72100. The bikes came from the Godown at 2.30 PM but my tranferred amount had not got reflected in their account. The amount finally got credited at 4.30 and it was a big relief for me, and there was another problem , the advance that i paid online Bajaj Auto on the day of registration has to get credited to the showroom guys which did not happen , so i had to pay 9000 extra again and collect the 9000 rs cheque in a couple of days which did not happen till date. And now coming to the bike i felt a whole lot of difference when i rode the bike for the first time, because i have been riding Enfield's for the past 5 Years, it was a tough decision switching over to a brand which is least preferred by me. But somehow got tempted and here i am , owning Indias one of the most value For Money Bike. Clocked close to 500 kms so far and trying to control my speed as well as accelerations for the run in period. so far i am getting a Mileage of around 30 kmpl. which is close to what my RE TBTS was giving. Now coming to driveability, I being a 5.7' incher i felt i am short by 2 inches, but i am somehow managing with some good shoes which can add a little height. Anyways happy with the purchase without even taking a Test Ride but it was not a bad decision i felt.

sales rep is saying that RTO is on strike. I couldn't find any such news on Google though.

I guess the suspension is very well tuned. The boffins at Bajaj seem to have thought it out

The acceleration does ask the pillion to always be alert! It just throws them back at a slight twist of throttle!!

              Hi rajuisback,

The mileage you claimed is based on city rides or highway rides?
              Congrats for your D400 BTW.

Did any owner of the Dominar 400 find the OBD2 connector under the pillion seat? Duke 390 has one and I want to know if Dominar also has the same

I couldn't find. Although i went to KTM showroom to check if indicator flasher chip which they provide for KTM bikes is compatible with Dominar or not. They checked but couldn't confirm it as well. [emoji1] [emoji1]

Just to have a rough idea where and how it looks. Please see the video and check if you have similar connector anywhere below the seat.

If the person downshifts to reduce speed of the Bike and Engine Braking is used for this purpose, then YES, over a period of time it can happen. The slipper clutch works when the Rear wheel spin is more than engine RPM for Respective gear. ie., when the rear tire ,loads on engine ...To make things clear here is a Video...

There are different ways to runin or break in the engine. Traditionally its been like less than 5000 RPM until 1000 kms. I don't believe in that kind of runin. I would rather do a break in of the engine. I am not sure whose idea this was (had read it on internet) rip the bike right from the start for the first 100 kms. Don't keep a constant speed, vary that. Now once 100 kms is done change the engine oil and then go steady on the bike.
When you change the engine oil, you will be able to see many particulars in the oil during the first 100kms.

First of all congrats on the new bike. Now i wonder why you feel short at 5.7ft i am barely 5.4ft 62kg and i am very comfortable while rinding it . There is no need to put the feet down even on the crawling speeds. Pushing part i manage by getting off it.
Please share how is the shift quality on your bike , mine is bit clunky first gear is little clunky and sometimes 2and 3rd also feels clunky. Sometimes all gears feels smooth. They said it will be ok after first service.

I got the number plates and other documents like bill, insurance, rto receipt yesterday but still no owners manual, showroom guys said no dealership any where has got the manuals. Please share if anyone got the manual.

And i dont know why my post get deleted whenever i try to edit it. I am using chrome on my android marshmallow.
