Normally bajaj oils are pathetic, but for Dominar they had sourced it from Total. Its rebranded for Bajaj as "Bajaj 10000".
There is both the 10w50 and 20w50 in the motul 7100. And svc's (at least the ktm svc's i've seen) can have either or both depending on what is available/supplied to them since these oils are imported either from France or Vietnam.
No big deal with either of them especially in our temperate weather.

I thought the bajaj 10000 oil was supplied by HP (HP also supplies bajaj their Brake fluid and fork oils). Did they change their supplier? Have you seen the label on the oil bottle and did it mention 'Total' ? Just curious.

Yes, Total logo is printed in the bottle label. That gave me some relief actually.

With oil companies making billions of dollars and employing smartest of engineers, you would think that they would recommend you which grade to use in which city/part of the world. Instead they choose to offer technical but confusing explanations on what the numbers mean for multi grade oils. I might get 10w50 for December Jan in Pune but use 20w-50 for rest of the year. Problem solved.

            But wouldn't this void warranty?

Should it? Wolverine just mentioned that he was offered a choice. I will ask the same question for second service and opt for Motul. Besides Bajaj 10000 and Motul 7100 look same color after 500 kms. Heheh they won't know anyways.

I wasn't offered. I asked them for so but i was said that bajaj recommended their engine oil.
I was totally my choice to choose which engine oil i want. As like its totally your choice to cut the wires of bike or not at the time of installing any electronic accessories.
Obviously changing engine oil to other manufacturer may void the warranty.

Ok will check but for now i am sure i am good. But i would love to do a few mods which will void the warranty and hence i plan to do them later.
                  1. Turn beeper : cheap mod but absolutely essential since with my head height, the turn flasher just does not catch my eye. I keep forgetting to switch it off. On earlier bike the position was such that i would notice it flashing. It might be ok for slow 2 wheelers but on fast bikes, it's dangerous to be indicating wrong signal.
                  2. Gear indicator : Suzuki offers that on bike less than half the cost. Hopefully i will find someone in Pune who can do after market installation.

With due regards, I do not think in Pune's median weather conditions, you'd need to shift between those oil grades. One should do, probably the 10w50 one. But again, that's just my opinion! It'd be good to see what comes out of your experiment, may benefit us all.

Agreed, these last 12 months we've seen a hotter and a colder Pune than of all recent times but still that's nothing drastic I'd say. I think we're good in Pune.

                      Regards.

Acc to Xbhp ian post. Calculation of mileage is from once you fill full tank petrol to next full tank.

It's a Bajaj. Better stick to what they say than repent later. Honda has 500 miles of run in for their 250.

Odo at 1854km, still following the run-in, cruising at 70-90kmph.
Will be done with 2k on Monday, as I'll be returning home from Mysuru.
Bike has performed extremely well during the trip. Was getting mileage of 29-32 before first service. Getting 35-36kmpl now.
I would recommended following the run-in. I hope that recommended run-in procedure gives better mileage.
                                Cheers.
