benz,You are correct about fuel guage,
Last week I went for a ~1500km ride, I filled petrol every 200km as I cannot trust the fuel guage.
But in the long run the fuel guage was working, can see 1 bar drop every 50~70 km.
Every 200 km, I filled for Rs 450 to 530, so average of Rs500 per 200km.
Its like top 3~4 bars for 500Rs petrol.
It was 2000 on odo when I started the ride.
On highways kept a speed on 120KMPH
.
And after that it was at ~3500
Some photos of the trip here,
First day I rode trivandrum to bangalore about 750Km. Its definitely a power cruiser as it says
I think we can do 1000 non stop or even 1500KM saddle sore easily
, if the traffic is favourable.
After that ride, the engine oil is below the minimum mark.
I am planning to change to Shell, I think its better than Motul, from my experience.
10w50 is not available with shell, But 15w50 also will do, right??.
So for Fuel, best option is to find rule like for Rs500 every ~200km according to your riding style.
Happy Power Cruising!!

Open the oil drain bolt at the gear lever end and remove all the oil. Remove the black engine guard and remove another bolt which is vertical to the bike.Originally posted by abhisheklalnediya View Postbenz,You are correct about fuel guage,

Clean the oil filter which is on the right bottom.
Fill the new oil. There are YouTube videos available for KTM 390. The it's the same procedure for Dominar

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Please do not change the grade, stick to stock. If you really want an aftermarket oil, I would suggest Motul 7100 10W50 Because:Originally posted by abhisheklalnediya View PostI am planning to change to Shell, I think its better than Motul, from my experience.

1) The grade is same
2) This oil has been tried & tested in KTM Duke upon which the Dominar is based.

Fully synthetic 15W50 will do, provided the temperature does not go below 15 degrees where you are! The viscosity here 50 should be kept the same!Originally posted by abhisheklalnediya View Post@benz,You are correct about fuel guage,

As for the fuel gauge has anyone approached bajaj with a formal complaint? when you are touring you should be able to trust your fuel gauge! Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Mates, my dominar did 800 kms. First service is done. A few 100 kms after riding, I noticed slight oil leak nearby crankcase seal. On detailed checking I found oil comes from something like an opening which is plugged. After that I rode for almost 50 kms, but it's not leaking. I didn't took my bike to service centre till now. I just want to know is that plug type thing is some sort of overflow arrangement. Planning to take bike to showroom. If anybody have some idea about it or having same problem pls share.Last edited by manu777; 05-08-2017, 06:38 PM.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
I edited my post and attached the picture. By the mean time i took my bike to Bajaj workshop. There they told me like its a plug and its glued there. I think that's a drill hole and its plugged using some sort of sealant. Leak may be due to that sealant damage, i guess. They told me to leave bike there. I don't want that. I want to see what they are doing. So tomorrow i will take it to workshop. That's why delay in posting picture. Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hi Bros, I get sore wrist if I ride in traffic (for about 30 minutes) with constant clutching and gear shifting, can it be because of wide handle bars which is not very raised ? Anyone observed the same ...
