Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Glad to have got my D400 delivered last evening. The wait was getting on my nerves
This was the first batch of around 15 bikes delivered from Popular Bajaj Banneraghatta road showroom in a small ceremony.
Got a D400 T-Shirt, nice quality for a showroom give away.
A bouquet of red Roses, Funny "My better half was laughing".
A set of two keys with the bike, would have liked it to be a bit thicker, would be nice to hold .
I will get the number plate and the other documents by Thursday.
I have got a comprehensive insurance for three years straight away.
So did the customary pooja at the temple just a few kilometers away and brought the bike home after filling in some fuel.
Initial experience:
The bike justifies it looks. It looks butch and powerful. And it is!
The power it generates and the way it does in a linear fashion is something that i am already in love with.
I have got the Twilight Plum colour. Love the colour and the paint quality. Hate to see any scratches on it.
Will check with 3M for detailing and protection.
The dealer said, 65% to 70% of the bookings are for white. The white looks good and is an attention grabber for sure.
I am happy not attracting a lot of attention. (An R15 owner was checking out the bike though)
The bike is very well put together. It feels solid. Need to see if it lasts the test of time.
Too much has been said about the headlamps, I am not a fan of them, but they are powerful.
The AHO is powerful but not really lighting up the road. I feel for city it is better to switch on the headlight switch and put it in low beam, visibility at shorter distance is better this way.
I feel this is necessary for the Bengaluru roads
I don't really slow down for really small pot holes and undulations. The suspensions seem to do the job well, albeit a bit stiff for my liking. I am not a cornering fanatic, so will make the rear suspension a bit softer during first service. This should make the city ride better.
The brakes are Fantastic! Period.
The slipper clutch does its job beautifully. I am new to the tech, but understand why it is there and what it does.
I do not have the memory of an elephant !!
All i remember is this, i guess I was busy looking at Bike and better half (You still need to give attention required to your wife)
First service between 500-750 Kms.
Synthetic oil for the engine, not sure of the rating though.
Owner's Manual should be on its way.
Cold starts, good to idle for 15-20 seconds before starting your journey.
If the bike is in gear, and on the side stand, the bike will not start. However, it will start if in Neutral.
I am not writing about mileage, too early for that.
I will pen down my ownership experience slowly but surely.
PS: All this coming from an RE owner. I miss my thump but I am in love with my new ride!!
Not many pics as of now. Will post them in due course of time.
Ride Safe. Peace!Nothing is comparable to the simple pleasures of a bike ride.

Nice to hear that deliveries have begun here in Bangalore.
I have a question to you, Do you find the ground clearance to be fine? I mean the part of Bangalore I stay in has these bigger/taller concrete humps. The ground clearance being similar to that of RS200, I feel it might be an issue.
Cheers and Ride safe!

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
With two up, which is a considerable amount of weight, the bike sails overs the stupid and unscientific potholes and not once did i scrape the bottom. The road to the temple is undergoing a "treasure hunt" by the BBMP, and no scrapes there either.
I guess the suspension is very well tuned. The boffins at Bajaj seem to have thought it out
The acceleration does ask the pillion to always be alert! It just throws them back at a slight twist of throttle!!

Thanks for the mini review & good to know you are happy with D400. Best wishes for safe mile munching.
May I ask about the insurance? How to get 3 year package? Which company, quote please?
Because I hate paying premiums yearly!
