In lot of reviews too they said it is not for shorties.. The saddle height being 800 mm isn't that short as I come from Royal Enfield Thunderbird for which the saddle height is around 775.Coming to the user manual my friend who got the delivery this Monday got the manual

Try using the xBhp app on your smartphone.
I had noticed this gear shift issue even on the TR bike. When I asked the concerned person at the showroom, he mentioned that gearshifts need to be done at higher RPMs. I'm not sure if its right.

Update (100 Kms):
The gear box is very clunky. Spoke to the Service manager and he says, it needs to be checked at first service as this should not be the case.
The downshift is smoother compared to up shifts.
I tried shifting around 3-4k rpm and the upshifts were better.
However, The first gear is very clunky. Need to see if this will be sorted out in first service.

@vishalmusle : 3-4K is what everyone follows generally for other bikes. But I would suggest you to shift between 4-5K RPMs. I don't think this would be of any issue even during run-in period.
I'm not sure of this, may be others can correct me here.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread

Hi all,

My 1st post -

I booked my bike online in early Jan 2017 and Feb 2017 is the expected delivery.

Today I got an SMS from Bajaj Showroom "Karol Bagh Bagga Link"

"Dear Customer we are pleased to inform you that we are in process of delivering motorcycles to respective customers. Request you to complete docs/payment formalities enabling us to deliver m/cycles on time"

I called them right away and and they stated that they have multiple bikes of my color choice, I can come make the payment and take the bike anytime.
And the reason the showroom guy stated is that these bikes are ready for delivery but the customer who made online payment for these bikes are in process of financing. Those who have money can choose the bike(not the color) and take it away.

I'm confused, should I go to the showroom and take the bike as I have the cash or should I wait for February which Bajaj confirms for my bike to be delivered to showroom.

Are these bikes faulty/rejected etc hence the showroom is trying to sell off to the ones who are impatient like me? Please suggest.

I suggest you to wait for feb lot because as far as i heard from Jai Bajaj Adyar Chennai, the vehicles is being allotted to respective customers before dispatch itself. Might be these bikes which are ready are those for which the respective persons who booked it did not turn up.

Even I am told that the bikes are already allotted to respective consumer before despatch .
My comment regarding the manual got deleted . My dealer is saying that they have it with them. I will be picking up my bike today evening . All formalities are done.

Kirankj1724 Thanks for the suggestion! But i still need to get the first gear clumsiness sorted out.

Suggestion by Service manager on speed limit until completion of 1000Kms as follows

1st Gear - 0-20
2nd Gear - 20-30
3rd Gear - 30-40
4th Gear - 40-50
5th Gear - 50-60
6th Gear - 60-70
If I follow this method of break in, I will not cross 4k rpm at all
I doubt i will stick to this after another 150Kms

When I recieved the bike, the service engineer told us to shift the gears at higher rpms or even at the rpm limit, which is at 8-8.5k rpm, you'll get used to it soon, I shift my gears around 5-6K I guess, and no problems with the gears so far. And maintain below 7500 rpm at 6th gear,(told by the service engr.) which gives around 110-120kmph.

Shift at higher rpms, I'm sure you'll find no problems, even if you got 'em, they will be no more after first service probably.

Got the owners manual today warranty is 2years 30000kms, battery warranty is 18months.
Engine oil grade is 10w50 full synthetic bajaj dtsi 10000.
1st service at 500 to 750kms 30 to 45 days,
2nd 240 days 4500 to 5000kms,
3rd 360 days 9500 to 10000kms.
Forget to ask for the air filter Location and service ,it is not mentioned in the manual. Will ask that at 1st service or some diy guy will post a video.
Battery is under the rider seat.

Got the gear shift inspected by the dominar specific mechanic he was working on duke series before that. He told me the clunky ness is normal and it is present in all bike made me check 2 more bike and both have clunkyness and sound at 1st gear. He also said it would be better post 1st service and oil change.

Hello,
Booked the bike right away on the very first day still I haven't got the delivery of my bike. I was the first one to book at that particular dealership (Rolta Bajaj,in Baguihati,Kolkata) which I confirmed from their booking list .The bike is in their warehouse from last week. After receiving dispatch message from BAL on 5th Jan,When I called them to enquire whether it had reached the warehouse or not on 14th,then only they told me that already it has. I made the full payment 4 days back on last Monday on 16th Jan,the cheques I gave them have been cleared too by the bank. Still when i called the dealership today, they are still asking me to wait till tomorrow when they will check about my payment update and then they will call me to come and do the necessary pdi, paperworks, invoicing etc after which they will send the bike for premenant reg and hand it over to me after about 4 to 10days!!
Another disturbing fact is that, their warehouse is about 40km away from the showroom and they are bringing the bikes from there by riding them one by one by some of their office personnels. It irked me a lot and I offered them to bring my particular one riding myself from their warehouse to showroom which was also turned down by them strongly.
It's getting so frustrating to deal with this particular bajaj dealership and to wait to get the bike after so many days after booking when every other city already have recieved their lot and enjoying their ride. Patiently awaiting for tomorrow and hoping for the best only till now.

Live safe.
Ride safer.
