It's best to buy the 2nd iteration of Bajaj bikes after their launch, they always fix the majority issues in the relaunch editions. Take the rs200 for example, the fairing vibration and loose but bolts and ECU problems are now completely solved in the newer 2017 versions, even the vibrations have reduced considerably after you finish the running in period. I think they'll do the same with dominar , it'll go through second round of refinement process after a year or so and then the new 2018 version will have all these minor issues fixed .

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Yes Im asking this question to multiple threads. I want to sell karizma and get a new bike. But want the new bike's engine to be smooth. Seeking trouble-free ownership. People suggested that few have upgraded to dominar so I want to know views of those gentlemen who had been in same boat as I am. I am dying to test ride bikes but unfortunately its not available in my city. Sorry if its bothering anybody.Originally posted by PrinceCruise View PostYou've been asking the same question in multiple threads? What's the purpose?
Do you have a Karizma and want to know which bike the former Karizma owners found better? Well guess what, that's not going to be helpful. Everyone has different preferences and riding style which changes with time. So rather than this, try out the bike of your choice and make a decision.

No worries, no bother buddy. I just wanted to give a heads up on the confusion ahead if you look out for bikes without test riding, solely based on other's opinion.Originally posted by sauravalwaysurs View PostYes Im asking this question to multiple threads. In any case, tell us your riding style and preferences-highway or city, then someone might help choosing proper bike for you.

I understand your desperation but ideally you should not be buying a bike based on other people's recommendation, even if they previously owned the same bike as you currently do. The most obvious reason being that an ex Karizma rider may have been looking for something else when he switched over to the Dominar and his riding style may be different than yours. Karizma has always been touted as a modern day long distance tourer by some but some rev the nuts off the bike using it more as a dragster.
In that case the opinion they give you about their switch will be as different as chalk and cheese. I know you do not have access to test ride vehicles, but still my humble opinion being that if needed get to a nearby city and test ride. Dominar as you know is nearly 2 lakhs (factoring the cost of good riding gear) and thats a lot of money to spend without at least test riding it.
By the way I had the fortune of riding the first gen Karizma for a month all to myself and till date I have not ridden an Indian bike with more character and charm than it. But thats just me!

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Bro, I have been following the simple rule of thumb that whenever the gauge is down to last 2 units, it's time to refuel..Got this from my TB500 as it's gauge is even worse..Was about to get stranded more than a couple of times due to the accuracy (pun intended) of the fuel gauge..Anyways, the last 2 bars in Domi usually would mean that there's about 2.5 litres of fuel left..So, time to head to your trusted fuel pumpOriginally posted by ameyaphulavare View PostI am facing this problem. Talked with the service center guys. They said its solved. But the problem persists. Its irritating

Hey Bro,Originally posted by Vivek Sreekumar View PostHeyPiyush,
I had the same sound that only comes when I am accelerating. I had this sound from day 1. Had mentioned this in one of my initial posts back. When I close the throttle there is no sound. Its a little bit weird to hear this as it makes me think there is some issue with the bike. Thankfully its not just me thats getting this sound. I had pointed this out to the service guy and he said it is the wind hitting the number plate that is making it
.
Also after the first service there is a lot of black sludge coming out of the gearbox. I have taken some snaps, and will post it later. Did anyone else also observe this? When i checked out some other forums for the same issue, they said it was because of the excess chain lube and not the engine oil, which was my initial fear. Still it is a little disconcerting to see such a thing.
And did the gearshifts on your bike improve after the first service. It seems to be as clunky as before. Especially in the 1st and the 2nd region.
No issues here from the gear box or anything..And Yes, the gear shifts have improved a lot since the 1st service..Neutral to 1st is still clunky, but rest of the upshifts have become absolutely smooth..Also, it's about finding the right spot of cable slack too..even now, when I press the clutch & change the gear at fully pressed position (conventional method, the way we were taught), it's still clunky..But when I make the upshift quickly when the clutch is half pressed, it's absolutely smooth..
Hope this helps..

I have already put up a thread in "what bike". Got 2 suggestions of Dominar. And I will try to look for test ride. ThanksOriginally posted by PrinceCruise View PostNo worries, no bother buddy. Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
The signature "thud" that people get from their bikes when shifting gears on is perfectly normal. This is the case with all the bikes. First gear always make a slight thud, this is the case with most bikes above a certain CC. Since we're used to riding commuter bikes with low cc and power we're used to clicking gear shift as opposed to thud. This "thud" is because of the gear ratio, usually the first gear have bigger gear ratio, so when they mesh with with main shaft that "thud".Originally posted by Usual suspect View Post

Though thuds are normal, grinding isn't normal. If this is the case, adjust your clutch play to the point which you are comfortable and the bike doesn't move forward when when the clutch is depressed. If the bike moves forward with the clutch depressed in first gear, then a clutch cable slack adjustment is required.
Cheers!

The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
What is this goooo or humming sound which comes when engine is at idle and disappear when clutch is pulled in . I was ask this from many guys and also read this on this thread , so today noticed it in the Morning silence it is present in my bike too.
I can relate this to fuel pump or gear box as usually the humming which goes off with pulling or pressing the clutch comes from the gear box and also in fi bike there is normal fuel pump sound. This sound can also be felt on move in some bikes.
Some one on whatsapp group also asked this.
Do see if it is present in ur bike or not guys.
And also what could be the reason my guess is fuel pump or slipper clutch.
